My cousin and I stumbled upon this hotel on a short business trip in Erbil. The hotel looked decent on the outside, and we were tired, so we just went in. Here’s a list of my first impressions: • Electric doors don’t open because of power outage. • The hotel is poorly maintained and dirty. • The receptionist doesn’t seem to have an idea what he’s doing. • The price per room is too cheap to be true, and flexible! • The room looks nice, but on closer inspection, the sheets and couch are stained. Later that evening, the stench of the bathroom made us open the room windows to get rid of the smell. In the morning, the stench of the restaurant forced us to leave to have breakfast at another hotel. Don’t be fooled by the looks of this hotel. It’s shady as F.

Stayed 2 nights at USD $76 per night including breakfast. Modern and comfortable hotel. Single Room was spacious with comfortable double bed, TV, spacious bathroom and air conditioning. Desk and chair and seat with small table. WIFI worked perfectly in room. Breakfast was OK and available to 10.30am. Provided a late check out of 1.30pm which was appreciated. Seating available in Lobby or restaurant / terrace area. Highly recommend the chicken fajitas and the coffee was pretty good too. Very efficient and helpful attentive staff. Bring cash because I have a feeling the credit card facility may not work more times than not and also handy to have smaller USD notes so you don't get left with a bundle of Dinar. Citadel was 4000 Dinar in a taxi. Airport taxis ask USD $35 but I managed to get one from the "Meet and Greet" area for USD $25 - hop on the shuttle bus outside arrivals and it takes you to the checkpoint a 3 minute drive away. Hotel arranged a taxi for 10,000 on the return trip. The ATM in the baggage area worked for my Visa card. A very good option for Erbil.

What amazed me most about the "Helin De Ville" was the high level of friendliness and hospitality throughout the entire hotel staff, from reception to restaurant to housekeeping. I really enjoyed my time there in this regards. If you are a person who is interested in details in terms of welcoming, service, quality, taste & variety of food, cleanliness, comfort, quality of staff & guests, response to your requests and the most important factor is the positive management involvement then "Helin De Ville Hotel" is your first and best choice. Prices are very competitive and for sure you will get the Value against the price you are paying.
