The Tllou Lodge deserves nothing more than a 2 Star rating. The accommodation is old and neglected, and can be improved in terms of the cleanliness. The lodge has no airconditioning, no flat screen TV, and DSTV channels. The garden area around the lodge and boma are overgrown and dirty. I will definitely not recommended or stay at the lodge...

This was a wonderful experience. An open plan bed, lounge area with a separate bath and toilet. The chalet was clean and neat. There is a ceiling fan and fridge in the unit. When walking out to the veranda there is a built-in two-plate stove with a cupboard providing cutlery, plates and pans. The unit is serviced daily. We enjoyed...

The quality of the very old furniture and fittings was extremely poor. No comfortable chairs to sit in, no bedside tables. The bathroom was horrendous. There was black mould growing between the tiles surrounding the bath, and at times the bath water was almost black, the bathroom in general smelled badly. Early morning coffee, only one Nescafe supplied! NOT ON....

My mom turned 60 and loves wildlife ! No better way to see this than 1.5 hour drive from JHB. We stayed at the Tlou Lodge at Mabalingwe. Check-in was super efficient and reception staff are great and friendly ! The rooms are set out nicely with good use of space and everything you need from big couch, tv, dressing...

Recently stayed at Tlou Lodge (again) for my birthday and wedding anniversary (1st July 2016 weekend). Been visiting Mabalingwe for approx. 29 years and something just keeps taking us back (not limited to Tlou though ... we occupy the chalets and more regularly camp in the caravan park). As usual, lovely place - gorgeous environment and very close to nature...

We had a great relaxing weekend! Our chalet was neat and tidy, thou the Lodge is in need of a upgrade as it is a beautiful environment and has so much potential! The game drive early morning was a nice experience although we didn't see much animals. The meals at the Restaurant was certainly worth a five star rating as...

The furniture in our chalet needs a major revamp. Its too old. Not too happy with that. Staff is super efficient and really helpful. The game drive was a real dissapoint. Wouldn't recommend it. No wildlife to see. Was promised to see the Big 5 not even ONE. Overall the lodge itself is very clean and the views from the...

We had a nice time there. It was a long weekend and the camp was not fully booked that was a bit weird as we have been going there for the past 7 years and its always jam packed. The 6 bed self catering chalet has got everything you need, though it was not that clean this time. It is...

We had a wonderful time! Our chalet was beautiful. We went on two game drives and a lion feeding, our guide Jason, who took us on both our night drive and on the Lion feeding drive, was amazing! He really went above and beyond, he took us to see the hyena's, hippo's etc. The stay was amazing, the staff at...

We stayed at the Tlou lodge and I must say that the rooms are really dated, the bathroom terrible and the bites from the bedbugs were appalling!! Game was also very scarce, mainly Impala and warthog, with a few young Kudu.

“This is not a fancy hotel, but a lodge where animals walk around freely. No grass around the lodge, probably due to the drought.”
