We stayed for a fortnight in October. Our flight arrived after midnight but Mantha was there to greet us. The next morning she devoted time to telling us all about the island, during which she mentioned a sailing excursion. Eight of us were up for it and she booked it straight away. It was an excellent day with an astonishing sunset as the culmination, as welll as visiting the volcanic island. That day sealed the bond between the 8 of us which made for a lovely first week. Throughout the holiday Mantha was ever present, always with a cheery welcome and nothing was ever too much trouble including staying until 9pm on oiur last day. The breakfasts are simple but filling and there is pool food available from lunch till late. This is a small, clean, friendly hotel, with a lovely pool and spectacular mountain views. Kamari Beach is a great cebntre for your holiday and there is no shortage of eating places in town. We booked this holiday to charge our batteries for winter. This is a lovely time of year and we were blessed with the weather. We kept things simple, catching the bus everywhere and walking plenty. Right behind the hotel and a steep hours walk uphill is the Temple of Thira. Spectacular! You can then return or walk the m ountain path down to Perussia for lunch. We also walked to Gaia Winery and on to Argyros Winery and back for a cheap and effective wine tour. This was a simple holiday in every way and thats sometimes what you need. We would definitely return. You don't need 5 star luxury when you have somebody like Mantha to look after you, guide you and constantly cheer you.…
We stayed at Black Sand apartments at the end of September for our sons wedding. All I can say is we had a fantastic stay due to Mantha and her team being so welcoming and looking after us so well. From the minute we arrived which was late at night to leaving also late evening, and including breakfasts Mantha was always there ready to help. Our apartment was lovely right by the pool and there are great views from everywhere. They are spotlessly clean, and cleaned by very friendly staff every day. The cleaning staff even found inflatables for our grandchildren to play with in the pool. Even the barman on our last evening played football with our grandchildren. We also had lunch there a few times and it was as good as any of the restaurants that we ate in. Thankyou Mantha and her team for a wonderful stay from The Hibbert family.…
We travelled on the 9th September and stayed for two weeks, we were greeted at about midnight and taken to our room, and given a bottle of water. The lounge was big with a kitchen/dining room and then bathroom and the bedroom, we had a balcony facing the front of the hotel. There was air in the lounge and bedroom, we stayed in room 118 and the only downfall was the beds, every time you moved they made a noise, the Wi-Fi was also not great, didn’t work at all in our room. The room was perfect for what you use it for, cleaned daily and one of the hottest showers we have ever had. There is a safe that’s kept in the main office. The hotel is situated so close to the beach, shops/restaurants. In the two weeks we never had a bad meal just amazing food and average around 40 euros for a meal with wine, really reasonable prices. We took the bus to Oia, so easy to do, Mantha will tell you where the bus stop is, it was really cheap and so easy to do. We always go all inclusive and this definitely converted us. The pool was lovely we sat by this every day, it’s not particularly warm but so refreshing. The weather was beautiful, although started to turn slightly in the evenings. There is a bar that does food and drinks so you don’t have to leave, although the patisserie down the road is amazing. Would definitely return, staff are so friendly, accommodating.…
We had a fantastic 4day break in Santorini 1st - 4th Sept staying at Proteas Hotel plus enjoying all the amenities of the Black Sand Hotel & Oxygen Hotel The manager Mantha was fantastic helping us anyway she could with our onward travel arrangements plus was there if we needed any help-----She is such a lovely friendly person we just can't wait to travel to Santorini again--- All the 3 Hotel had fantastic breakfasts & were excellent very clean & comfy
I don't want to sound dramatic, but Black Sand has to be one of the nicest places i've stayed in over 30 years of travelling abroad. Mantha & all of the staff are wonderfully friendly and helpful - incredibly knowledgeable. The place is just a hidden treasure, rooms are beautiful, cleaned every day, air con and really spacious. Our bathroom (110) was amazing! themed on Atlantis, so creative and different. We were right next to the pool (relaxing quiet area) which was also fantastic, sunbeds were perfect and you could always get one. The pool bar serves lovely local dishes which were very very good and well priced, as were the drinks. Lots of shops & restaurants nearby too and the most amazing bakery! What I will comment on is that every single guest there was polite and acknowledged each other at breakfast etc each morn. Having done AI hols for a number of years with young children this was refreshing and has rekindled my desire to go to smaller places. I loved it, and if I am lucky enough to go back to Santorini it will be the first place I try, The other (more photographed) resorts were lovely but far too busy for me, give me Kamari every time!…
Booked a 2 bed apt and received 1 bed Apt and 1 room which suited us fine as we were a family of 4 (16 years plus) so had extra bathroom and more space. Very pretty accommodation, love the bougainvillea and mountain views. Pool area was larger than we were expecting from the pictures seen online Rooms were very clean with air con. Basic kitchenette facilities in the apt, suitable for breakfast/lunch. Great choice of food and drinks at pool bar/restaurant and very good value. Pool area/bar/restaurant and surrounding area was kept very clean and tidy. Good choice available for breakfast, you can pay as you go. Mantha and Riad were so friendly and accommodating, nothing was too much trouble and always happy and keen to answer any questions/provide advise. Thank you, we would highly recommend and definitely hope to return. Situated in a nice (slightly quieter) part of the resort. Close to shops, bars, restaurants & bus stop and. 5 min walk to beach and beach front shops/bars/restaurants Top Tip: “ Fabulous bakery and gelato, Erotokritos Bakery, 2 mins from Black Sand Apts. If you are walking up to Ancient Thera it is very windy! and the entrance is up the slope from the roundabout, past the house! We nearly missed it. We walked up to the church in the mountain then across to the zigzag road rather than walking back down the steep steps. Would recommend beach shoes as black sand on the beach is so hot! Buses to Thera and Oia are cheap and frequent. Thera bus station is a bit chaotic!…
What a lovely little gem of a place that is welcoming and safe for any female solo travellers Mantha came out to meet me as I was dropped off at gone midnight, showed me around, explained it was safe to walk around and was the friendly face welcoming me every morning. Happy to arrange any trips, taxis or give advice There is a very chilled vibe at Black Samds - its a small hotel with a real family feel, easy to chill by the pool in the small bar, great wifi and air con in every room A few minutes walk to the main town and beach front which is busy and colourful with lots of little streets to explore , shop and a wide spectrum of eateries Love Black Sands and will definitely come back
We had the most amazing stay here at black sands apartments. Manthas husband was there to greet us at 4am after we got delayed and even gave us a bottle of big water, which was needed. Mantha and all the other staff were amazing, could no fault this place at all. In a prefect location, the beach is only a few mins walk away so are the shops and restaurants and the bus stop as well. The pool bar had a great selection of food and drinks. We will definitely be back again :)
Fantastic small hotel, Greeted by the hotel owner Mantha well after midnight, nothing is too much trouble for anyone who works at the Black Sands all you need to do is ask. Rooms are simple and have everything you need, pool area is small but never missed out on sun beds, bar area lovely with shaded seating area, food was excellent and not expensive. Mantha was very kind in offering her other hotel for our last night so we could have a late checkout, very helpful. Would definitely recommend this hotel.
Like everyone else, I have to say Mantha is the most wonderful host, she cant do enough for you and is so upbeat everyday. We had a problem with our room (not her fault) and she could not do enough to try and sort the issue, The barman (mr right) is great too the food and drinks are great and better prices than the village. Apartments are cleaned everyday with fresh towels and even towels everyday for the pool. Only 5 minutes walk to the beach and bars. Book the sunset Cruise (Mantha will do this for you) great trip and not to be missed. Would recommend this place to anyone just great all round.
