The hotel has easy parking close to reception, where we were met by a very friendly & helpful lady who made it a pleasure to be checking in. We had opted for the smallest room in the main house, which was bigger than expected with en-suite bath & shower over. Full range of toiletries, nice towels and plenty of hanging...

Had a really lovely evening with my husband at Fischers restaurant. We were made to feel very welcome upon arrival and were taken into the bar area for a pre meal drink and canapés. Then we selected the tasting menu which was £80 a head for around 10 locally sourced courses. We were shortly taken to our table which was...

This was a special birthday treat and unfortunately we've eaten much better meals locally for a lot less money. Pretentious in the extreme. The food was certainly not poor but not as good as it thinks it is. The staff were attentive and competent. The restaurant is fine but not particularly welcoming with no ambience at all, the occupants of...

Baslow Hall (Fischer's) is superbly situated for the discerning visitor to the gorgeous Peak District. From the very special town of Chesterfield to the various delights of Matlock, Bakewell and Eyam - Baslow Hall is situated perfectly. The food deserves the enhanced Michelin reputation. We ate two delicious meals over consecutive evenings. The stunning gardens provide some of the raw...

We vIsited Fischer's for our first wedding anniversary, treating ourselves to the tasting menu and a stay. The service was outstanding, attentive and considerate. Unfortunately the room was small and the bed not even full size, making our stay uncomfortable, our legs sticking out from the end of the bed! We were also disappointed with the tasting menu, whilst lovely...

We stayed for 2 nights over the late May Bank Holiday weekend in the Rutland Room in the main house. Our room had a separate lounge, a very nice bathroom with a big bath, views over the kitchen garden, and was nicely decorated in keeping with the style of the house. The highlights are the great location, the very friendly...

Weekday lunch menu and very good food and good value. Choice of 3 starters, mains and puddings. Preceded by an amuse bouche of jersey royal veloute with a wild garlic foam (lovely), hazelnut and raisin bread and stout and treacle bread (the former better than the latter). Starters of quail terrine and asian salad, and a cheese pannacotta with a...

Our expectation were quite high, given that the restaurant has a michelin star and the rooms are described as luxurious. In fact the rooms are nice but nothing special and the dinner was not particularly delicious. It is certainly too expensive for the level of service and food.
