Great place but it is the only place to stay. Expensive considering what you get. The Al la Carte very very expensive and buffets $63 NZ each don't think so! But down the road there is this awesome pub for back packers great meals and fantastic atmosphere.

Stayed here one night on Moatrek Tour Room was like small box easily worst hotel on our 14 day Tour of NZ. No free wi fi in room but available in the Lounge (why do supposedly better hotels charge for wi fi in your room these days, just trying to rip us off!) Very poor selection of tv channels. Adequate...

Noise from outside the room was louder than I expected. I attempted to stifle the noise by placing a blanket at the bottom of the hotel door, but this wasn't successful. We found a fake finger nail attached to the blanket stored in the closet. The carpet of the room was worn more than I would have expected in a...

On a extended holiday in New Zealand and Australia with my wife, brother, and sister-in-law, we stayed in six deluxe accommodations. This was the worst of them all, by common agreement. To be fair, the other stops on our journey were more far more intimate and "cosy." The Hermitage seemed like a mass market enterprise. We were particularly put out...

Not the first time we have stayed here and the room we chose (again) , Premium Plus on the 10th floor gives one of the most spectacular views you can imagine. Yes it is quite expensive but worth every penny just fir this view of Mount Cook. Room itself other than the view is pretty good, the usual robe and...

What an amazing weekend we had - the activities (Glacier Explorer, Mount Cook Magic in 3D and The Digital Dome Planetarium) are fantastic. The Hotel had all the options we needed to keep our family entertained over two days. Easy access to the great scenic walks surrounding the Hotel. It felt like being in Switzerland - only better, as it...

We stayed here because my husband stayed here 30 years ago but the view was just as amazing(so he said). We bought the Explorer Pass and went through the museum/movie. We waked up to see the glacier. We arrived late and wanted to eat fast so we walked down to the hostel area to the casual restaurant. That was lively...

The drive in, and clear view of Aoraki was spectacular, and the hotel with unobstructed mountain facing views was brilliant. So many walks to choose from, everything from 15 minutes to full day hikes. Good food in the buffet for main meals, and the cafe above the museum served up good coffee and snacks. Overall, a great place to unwind...

You just can't fault this location, with incredible views of the surrounding mountains, and a good overnight snow sprinkling whilst we were there. Food (evening and breakfast) also excellent. Only disappointment was that we had to pay for wifi in the rooms, the only place that charged in our whole 2 weeks NZ tour - archaic in this day and...

The hotel has rooms overlooking the mountains that are a must - waking up in the morning to mount cook bathed in sunshine is one of the most beautiful sights imaginable Activities are very weather dependent and so keep an eye on the (not too dependable) weather forecasts and stay two days to increase the odds of tours operating Lovely...
