We slept one night in a self contained cottage and it was extremely cosy and fun. We were also stuck with a broken car and the owner, which I dont recall his name was very nice and helpful. He even towed our car to where we needed... A great place and a great owner!

Was disappointed that it wasn't a budget due to ghosts. No ghosts to be found whatsoever in this hostel. Lovely facilities, decent amount of shared space. Keas everywhere! Had breakfast with the Keas at the store next to the hostel, highly recommend if you love paying for food that will be immediately stolen by a cheeky parrot. The manager sent...

My mate and I decided after a two week driving tour of NZ to take a few days off to enjoy the beauty and hiking trails of Arthur's Pass. Although Arthur's Pass community is very small, it does boast a couple of hotels/b&bs. I'm so glad we picked this one. We were made to feel so warm and welcome by...

His words actually included another word. Anyway. The place is amazing. Not only for the hundreds of opportunities that the national park offers (hikes), but for the homy and cosy environment that the mountain house offers. The nearby shop is a bit expensive ("the most expensive groceries in the world" cit.) so remember to take supplies from outside before cooking...

Booked YHA Mountain Hostel for 3 nights and we were put up in their Motel across the street. Wonderful private digs to wake up to every morning, hike/trek/tramp and then return back happy and exhausted; so many and various treks/tramps available depending on your stamina and willingness and time to enjoy this National Park. We saw unlimited number of awesomesauce...

The YHA hostel (check-in untill 7PM) provides good beds, a kitchen and a lovely living room for your stay at Arthurs Pass. The Wi-Fi is available if you have YHA pass. Otherwise you should make use of the paid option ($5 for 24h) or make use of the Spark services (across the street & possible if you have a spark...

I arrived from a TranzAlpine ride to meet complete silence at YHA Mountain House. After spending about 15 minutes saying hello to the doors and windows all through inside the building, I just left my suitcase and backpack behind the front desk with a note on the table, because I wasn't going to forsake the blue sky -- which doesn't...

Thanks for the review! Actually getting a 3 out of 5 was quite a good score considering you didn't have a great stay. Most of your points are fair enough. Sometimes there are just perfect storms of disaster It was me who was working and I remember that day quite clearly. In the morning I was cleaning in another building...

Nice clean hostel, good place to stay during winter time, wouldn't need any more than this. Only couldn't find the hostel on hostelworld world or book it from another YHA strangely. Ah yes Bob is a great guy thanks for the help! Would stay again any time.

Very nice and clean room & shared areas. The kitchen area was basically spotless. The night was quiet. Room and bathroom were nothing flash but convenient. There was a wee wait at arrival until the owner showed up to give us the key & it was pretty cold to wait outside but other than that no issues at all.

Remember those winter night cozy movies where the actors snuggle by the fireplace eating warm foods and drink a cup hot chocolate. Reminiscent that night reminds me of those movies. We checked in Mountain House YHA (Arthurs Pass) at dusk after a detour from Punakaiki. It was already dark when we checked in, and as usual, for the past week...
