We went for afternoon tea at Barnsdale Lodge with my brother and his wife at our suggestion as we had been before for a meal and had really enjoyed it. However, we were very disappointed with the Afternoon Tea. It was certainly not value for money and the staff were very disinterested in serving us. No one asked if we...

We had a special celebration for our Silver Wedding anniversary on 20th May 2017, and definitely made the right choice to hold it at Barnsdale Lodge. The hotel was warm and welcoming, the food was delicious and beautifully served, and the staff helpful and courteous. Even though the hotel was very busy with a wedding party and another large group,...

The only problem was with our actual reservations the rooms were not ready on arrival and there was serous problems at checkout with incorrect prices being charges, This was such a pity as otherwise the staff are very attentive and good and the food is excellent. I was staying in a superior room,...

My husband and I stayed overnight on route home. The Hôtel was in a beautiful setting. The receptionist was friendly and welcoming. Our room was quaint and well furnished. We both slept well. The evening meal was delicious and the ambience in the bar was relaxed. We enjoyed the breakfast. All the staff were helpful. We are looking forward to...

As a Rutlander, and patron of Barnsdale Lodge over many years, we thought it would be a great idea to experience the Gentleman's Tea and Full English Tea this week. We had booked a time and date over the phone as the day was predicted to be good and sitting outside would be a treat. On arrival our booking had...

Dear Adele, thank you for the lovely recognition for our kitchen brigade and the quality of food you enjoyed during your visit. I was very sorry to learn you had been left unattended by the team, and have already shared your feedback across the service team. Attentiveness is something I talk with them about a great deal, as you say...

I'm so sorry, we've had an issue with the fire system triggering with our sparkler candles, but should have brought a celebration plate instead. I'm sorry your special occasion was not recognised to the full and will share your feedback with my team.

Our room was lovely and all the staff were very friendly. Breakfast was brilliant too, I had scrambled eggs with salmon and the fish was divine! With the small exceptions of having to request the dog bed that I had booked and our waiter being a bit grumpy at breakfast, we had a great time. The wedding reception went off...

Thanks for your lovely feedback - I will follow up with the "grumpy" waiter and remind him we are in the service (with a smile) industry!

The room we were allocated seemed tired. The use of quaint furniture may have been an attempt to create authenticity which sadly doesn't work. Although the ensuite was functional it also appeared tired and while fitted with a modern shower the cubical door was off it's track. The food in the restaurant was acceptable but not exceptional. Breakfast service lacked...
