we went up to Bala for our annual Thanksgiving Blue Rodeo show. This was the first time staying at the hotel - in the past we have stayed at a motel and bed and breakfast. The hotel room was small, but suited our needs, as we were only staying one night. I read some of the reviews regarding the rooms...

Lots of places were fully booked for the long thanksgiving weekend and Bala Bay Inn had one room left facing the lake. It came with one queen and one twin bed and suited my family of 3. The rate was $174 + tax. The pictures on the website gave me a funky vibe. Bright green walls, colored towels etc. It...

Being by myself, I decided to treat myself to their buffet dinner at 24.95 - the only good thing about the meal was the pumpkin cheesecake and the ribs. I never saw my server, was not offered a drink - soda or otherwise and had to flag down a completely different server after waiting 30 minutes, with my napkin on...

Upon arrival, the clerk was very friendly and helpful. We went straight to our room and found it quite small and the TV was the size of a computer screen and outdated. While watching TV, the channel would go off air. No fridge, no microwave. Had an alarm clock but nowhere to plug it in. One socket was behind the...

Stayed here for one night over Labour day weekend- were going to the Kee for a concert and BBI is the only place to stay that is close The hotel needs a lot of work and updating. We had some drinks and some dinner in the bar- the menu is NOT what is on their website- it’s very limited, however,...

My husband went for a drive looking at different spots for a permanent summer home. Went into Bala and decided to have lunch since the weather was not very nice. Went to Bala Bay Inn saw cars out the front thought well that's a good sign. We enter the foyer not even acknowledged by the desk staff, found our way...

Stayed there for one night, as many do for a concert at the Kee. Looks beautiful from the outside and the lobby is OK but has too many signs telling you what you can't do! The room was small but that is expected in an old hotel. The bed was comfortable. This the best I can say about the place....

The hotel is in DESPERATE need of a major overhaul. Rooms are in very poor condition, bathrooms circa 1975, and cleanliness not a priority. We needed a place in Bala and there's not much choice. Extortionate price for such a poor hotel and the stand alone AC unit made you feel you were sleeping on the runway of a busy...

Our trip started with a little bit of chaos. There were thunderstorms the night before and the power went out in Bala. We received and email the night before saying they 'hoped' to have the the room ready by 4pm and they were still out of power. Of course we got lost(we always do), so we got there shortly after...

Stately old building... in need of some TLC, but comfortable! Stayed in Rm 312, reputed to be the most haunted room in the hotel --- did get some good activity footage and EVPs (Paranormal Investigator!) The room was clean, the bed very comfortable, the staff very friendly, and the food excellent. My only complaint is the insane smoking policy! It...
