We stayed in the two bed apartment with another couple in feb 2012 and it was perfect. It was spotless and well equipt, we used the BBQ in the evening with fresh herbs picked from the garden for our salad. On arrival we were greeted with homemade cookies and the jar was promptly topped up once we ran out. Breafast... More

We stayed in the little apartment at Ika Lodge in January, 2012 . There were two couples the first night and then just the two of us the second night and there was plenty of room. It would work great for a small family as well. The kitchen was well appointed for cooking simple meals and the hosts had wine,... More

We have just been lucky enough to enjoy a 2nd trip to Ika Lodge. What an experience.. The attention to detail, the hospitality , the food and the generosity of the hosts Kenneth and Margaret, are outstanding. We loved every minute and even though we have rolled home several kilos the worse for wear, the thought of a little austerity now... Ika Lodge has a wonderful location a stones throw from the river. Possibly the best trout fishing river in New Zealand. And if you are into wildlife a location where the Blue Duck nests. The homestay itself is down a lane and next to a park so is very peaceful. The cottage is very comfortable and beautifully furnished. Our room... More

We found this place as it was recommend in the Rough Guide and it did not disappoint. A superb B&B that supplied us with the most enormous breakfasts. Our hosts, Ken and Margaret, couldn't have made us feel more welcome or looked after us any better. They were on hand to offer us good local advice, even arranging for us... More

Ika Lodge was New Zealand hospitality at its best. Breakfast was delicious with plenty of home made fare (preserves, croissants, bircher museli etc.) My one complaint was that the dinner the previous evening was so substantial and delicious we could not do the breakfast justice! The house was delightful with beautiful gardens and on the banks of an excellent trout... More

We experienced a warm welcome by our hosts Margeret and Kenneth. They are so friendly, always have a smile on their face and supply you with wonderful suggestions for activities in the area. A beautiful house, spacious room, everything equipped with attention to detail. We enjoyed a superb breakfast with freshly made Croissants, homemade jams, eggs, and delicious cake.
