We go there twice a year and love the place! This time we took some friends and booked the big Cattle Rustlers house. What a great stay we all had! We had 6 adults and 3 children and there was plenty of space for us all. The staff are great and always helpful with excellent service. Fishing is right out...

Hi Mark, Thanks for taking the time to write a review of your stay at Tongariro Lodge, so pleased that you had a great time, and were able to share it with friends. Great fishing effort of your daughters as well. We look forward to welcoming you back to The Lodge on your next visit. Happy travels.

My son and I are from the U.S. and spent 2 weeks driving 2000+ miles through the North and South Island of New Zealand. You might want to check out my other reviews because we stayed in 11 hotel in 13 days in a variety of price ranges. This lodge was our first night after driving south from the Auckland...

Stayed recently with my husband who was keen to fish in the Tangariro river. The cabins are old Lockwood style so creaky and noisy. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom tiny, and no space to dry wet waders etc. in the room. Basic accommodation more like a motel room than a lodge.

Thank you for your feedback as it is very important to us. I apologise that you did not enjoy the Lodges original one bedroom chalets . Please note there is a drying cupboard in each chalet for waders and wet weather gear and we are sorry this was not pointed out to you. We are currently in the process of...

My husband and I planned this family trip for months. He was looking forward to taking our 12 year old fly fishing for the first time in what appeared to be a top rated resort. My daughter and I were to enjoy the luxury lodge while the boys fished. We were very disappointed given the price we paid and what...

Thank you for your feedback as it is very important to us . On a positive note I am very happy that you did enjoy the fishing, location, and meals at the lodge. I apologise for the state of your Villa upon arrival, this was not acceptable and I have spoken with cleaning staff to ensure this never happens again....

My daughter and I spent Easter at the lodge and were treated to a free upgrade to a house for our 1st night. The manager and staff were so friendly and the food(breakfast and dinner) was amazing. We hired a fishing guide through the Lodge for a half day. Our guide was so knowledgeable and patient with us (beginners) and...

This hotel is certainly positioned in a beautiful spot. The staff are friendly and helpful but found the villa rooms to be very clean but the fittings are quite dated and need maintenance. The kitchenette and lounge areas were good and tastefully decorated with plenty of the usual self catering type items (crockery, cutlery, tea, coffee etc). The food in...

We booked the lodge last minute and was given a free upgrade to a beautiful house which was fantastic. We ate there for breakfast and dinner and had two fantastic meals couldn't if asked for a nicer stay wish it could if been longer. Excellent facilities for hiking and fishing and a great location for taupo and tongariro. The staff...

Fishing, hiking, the amazing river all combine to make this lovely lodge a must stop place close to Lake Taupo on one of the world's great rivers. Turangi is quiet but has incredibly friendly people, nice little eateries and the great Creel cafe. Coffee that rates with the best in Oz. The river gets into your bones and stays there....

This lodge is located near some of the most spectacular fly fishing in the world but our so called "villa" was somewhat dated with a very noisy refrigerator. When we checked in, we were excited to learn that our villa was next to the river but there was no view nor could we hear it. The restaurant was quite empty...

We stayed 3-nights in Chalet #10. The cabin is rustic, but as expected in a place known for a fishing lodge. I was somewhat disappointed by the bathroom, but everything was clean and tidy. We were given new towels daily. Amenities included small flat screen TV/radio, refrigerator, hairdryer, tea bags, coffee and plunger, but no hot pot. The heater is...
