Very good Hostel in Turangi. Its clean and has nice workers. Would always recommend it. Also near to the Tongariro Alpine Crossing which gives an awesome sight over the local area. (only 30 minutes with the car and there are also infopapers at the hostel)

One of the best backpackers I've come across in New Zealand. Turangi is a very convenient place to start if you want to tramp the Tongariro Alpine Crossing and this place arranges a shuttle for you if you want (45 NZD return). Good facilities and good service. There is an awesome deck outside to relax and a massive wooden table...

Small, cosy hostel in a quiet location in Turangi. Really clean, friendly staff, good wi-fi and decent beds. Common areas are homely and social, even a welcome log fire for those sub-zero winter nights. Great base for exploring Lake Taupo and Tongariro. Would recommend and return.

We liked: nice staff, nice distribution of rooms and common areas like kitchen. Nice terrace that we could not use unfortunately due to bad weather. The room looked comfortable with a large double bed that we were very thankful for. All would have been perfect, would even have been our favourite hostel if not for following: The toilet seat had...

My partner and I and our two kids (6 & 9) had a wonderful stay at Riverstone. Great location for our trip up the mountain. Well equipped kitchen, clean amenities, cosy bedroom with nice linen, drying room, lots of info about the area - loved the copy of the treaty on the wall! Fine collection of NZ art house movies,...

We stayed at Riverstone last night. The kitchen was clean, with a cozy fire place to warm up to. All the basic necessities were provided - free wifi TV indoor and outdoor lounge area parking clean toilets towels provided. The only downside was the lack of an online booking system and the room was really cold at night despite the...

I stayed in Turangi for a couple of nights so that I could do the Tongariro Crossing. Rob was fantastic for helping book the bus and get all the info I needed in order to do the crossing, and the bus even picked me up directly in front of the hostel! Riverstone itself is a beautiful hostel. It's very homey...

Booked a double ensuite room for 2 nights in June. The place is tidy & has all the stuff you'd expect. It's close to the center of town (walkable) but a little further down a quiet street. The heaters in the rooms are tiny though - barely made a difference, which is kind of important when it's minus 4 degrees...

My wife and I stayed here before and after our Tongariro Crossing. It was an excellent decision to stay here. The kitchen facilities are excellent, the common room is warm and appealing, and our en-suite room was fine. Over and above everything else, the staff and owner were very helpful and supportive when we missed our scheduled shuttle back from...

As an older married couple we prefer ensuite facilities and therefore don't stay at backpackers accommodation very often, but if they were all like this we'd stay at them more often. The premises were very clean and tidy - the general signage, reminders and kitchen labelling of everything being cases-in-point. Our room was small but functional with an ensuite that...
