Breakfast was small but enough to get going. Tea/Coffee, cereal, toast, fruit, yogurt. The only downside is the parking. You have to park up outside and go in to the hotel to get a fob to get into the car park. This would be an issue if you the area is busy. Also checking out we had to sit in the car park waiting for the staff to come open the barrier. Would be worth considering the hotel having a camera at the car park and watching people arrive and leave.
All in all lovely hotel.
Since this was the beginning of the high season, the area and the hotel were not too crowded. Sperlonga is town with a long stretch of beach and a hilltop town center that has many quaint little shops and restaurants along the way up to the hill. One proviso to this somewhat lesser known paradise is that most of the guests here are from Italy so there is not much English spoken. I have been taking Italian classes for a while now and that skill was needed to get around in Sperlonga comfortably. We ate at one night at a restaurant on top of the hill called the Archi. Again the food was outstanding but the price was a little steep, so we returned to the hotel the next night. We are planning a trip to a nearby town tomorrow and a boat excursion on Wednesday. We have several more nights here and will be sad to leave here even though our next stop is Tuscany.
The rooms are in line for a good 3 stars , comfortable but especially we loved the sea view...Amazing sunset every evening!
Breakstaf full and fresh, even with home made cakes...we loved the cappuccino made by Mr Fabio, he was astonishing us every morning.
The staff is really gentle, especially the owners that are always present.
We liked it and so organize to came back with our children and friends too
The hosts are unitrusive, simple, laid back people.
The rooms are reasonably sized, bathrooms could be bigger, but when you have such a paradise outside, an awesome beach view, which you feel belongs just to you, it'd be a sin to complain about anything!
That's how this hotel makes you feel. At least, it made us feel that way.
It's a poem of a town, and a song of a hotel. Stay there.
Flat screen television and air condition in room. Also we found out that you could borrow an internet cable to hook up your laptop (free of charge), which was very appreciated since Sperlonga didn't seem to have any internet cafés.
Balcony with sea view absolutely worth the extra money. Very nice reception staff. Breakfast a bit boring, but quite alright. Sunbeds and unbrella on the beach included and the water was wonderful. Probably the best Italian beach I've been to (that includes Amalfi, Positano, Tropea, Alghero).
Sperlonga was just perfect size-wise. And in the beginning of july the beach was not overcrowded other than on saturday and sunday.
The service is good, and if you do half board and have small children the staff really go out of their way to make them feel welcome. We had a baby with us and the chef made vegetalbe soup (with all the veggies ground up) for her every day and allowed us to go into the restaurant 30min before it opened so the baby could be fed in a calm setting.
The rooms are kind of small, I didn't like that, but there's airconditioning, a fridge, a TV, and we had a balcony with a wonderful sea view so all in all it was fine. There's a private beach in front of the hotel and you get your own spot with chairs and everything. The beach is not very big but the water is amazingly blue and very shallow so even babies can enjoy crawling around in the water without too many risks. If you wade out far enough it does eventually get deep but very gradually so it's good for all ages.
The food in the restaurant was classic italian cuisine with some variety. Breakfast was a little scarce, no English breakfast available, but yummy enough if you like continental breakfast.
The hotel has a parking and is right in front of the main bus stop so easy to reach in any way. It is walking distance from other seafront restaurants and a merry-go-round for kids and also not far from the mian town, which is lovely but quite a trek uphill.
The CONS: Overpriced in my opinion. The room is very dated and the aircon was an extremely noisy 90's split dripping water hanging on top of the room's door. The room was adjacent to the elevator's shaft and its noises were part of the night's soundtrack, accompanied by the rant of the aircon vent. The formula of "mezzapensione" (half board was MANDATORY while booking on line. And that means dinner is part of it (besides breakfast). Talking about dinner: below average. Food option/quality was not spectacular and breakfast had the excessive water used for diluting the juices. Basically it ended to be colored water with no taste. Overall if the price was HALF of what we ended up paying, I'd say that could be ACCEPTABLE. But looks like all the areahad an excessive increase of prices.
