Lovely clean hotel in great location. The private beach is a great addition. Rooms are small but clean. No tea/Coffee facilties. Shower and bed fine. The room had a balcony which overlooked the sea.
Breakfast was small but enough to get going. Tea/Coffee, cereal, toast, fruit, yogurt. The only downside is the parking. You have to park up outside and go in to the hotel to get a fob to get into the car park. This would be an issue if you the area is busy. Also checking out we had to sit in the car park waiting for the staff to come open the barrier. Would be worth considering the hotel having a camera at the car park and watching people arrive and leave.
All in all lovely hotel.

A lovely hotel right on the beach with a lift that takes you right there!. Sun bed and umbrellas included. Beach is clean with lifeguard on duty all day. Rooms are small and spotlessly clean. I had a double which was big enough for me as a solo traveller. The balcony overlooking the sea was lovely. Staff friendly with a small bit of English. Breakfast typical Italian but I was happy with cereal and juice as I wouldn't be looking for anything else. The hotel is only a short walk to the old town. Very well located for shops, restaurants and the local bus stop. Would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to other travellers.

My family and I have spent three days in Sperlonga, Italy, at the hotel Amyclae. We arrived at the hotel after a long flight from the US and then a relatively long drive through Saturday beach traffic from Rome. What should have taken an hour and one half took us almost 2 and one half hours. We decided to hire a driver for the 5 of us rather than hassle through the trains and cabs to get here. However, when we arrived at our hotel the magic of Sperlonga made everything worth it. The accommodations/rooms at the Amyclae were ok. They were comfortable but small. The bathroom and shower were adequate and the bed was comfortable. What made the hotel outstanding was that it was right on the beach. The balcony outside our hotel overlooked the beautiful beach and this incredible view of the sea. Each room had its own beach chairs and umbrella and it is incredibly convenient. The water was warm and the weather was great this last week in June. We have spent the last few days doing very little but soaking up the sun and the beautiful weather. The Amyclae hotel is a family run business and it is clear they put their effort into pleasing their guests. The food at the hotel was to die for and was reasonably priced. My wife, who features herself an excellent judge of great food said that two of the desserts at the hotel hit the top of her list (tirami su and a strawberry whipped cream concoction that they stuck a candle in for my birthday).
Since this was the beginning of the high season, the area and the hotel were not too crowded. Sperlonga is town with a long stretch of beach and a hilltop town center that has many quaint little shops and restaurants along the way up to the hill. One proviso to this somewhat lesser known paradise is that most of the guests here are from Italy so there is not much English spoken. I have been taking Italian classes for a while now and that skill was needed to get around in Sperlonga comfortably. We ate at one night at a restaurant on top of the hill called the Archi. Again the food was outstanding but the price was a little steep, so we returned to the hotel the next night. We are planning a trip to a nearby town tomorrow and a boat excursion on Wednesday. We have several more nights here and will be sad to leave here even though our next stop is Tuscany.

The Amyclae Hotel is a quiet little structure on the Sperlonga beach, two hours from Rome. It is not a luxurious place and my one negative note is that the food is edible but nothing to write home abour. Breakfast better: cereals, cakes, bread and butter, nothing fancy but good. At dinner, the pasta was good (as always), the fish was, again, edible. This said, this hotel is one of many on the Sperlong beach, just between the main road and the sea, and I suppose some are slightly better and some are slightly worse: the place itself is utterly fantastic. The beach is clean, clear, the sea is wonderful, ideal for kids (sandy bottom and very slowly degrading). In fact in summer the beach is crowded with little children, thus the Amyclae hotel and I guess other places around are very kid-friendly. My room was on the small size but comfortable and clean, the sea view and the small balcony are a definite must. The great thing here is the light and the fact that the Amyclae (as other hotels) is directly on the beach: thus you get out of your room, go down two floors and come out on the beach with the hotel's ombrellas, sun beds etc. It takes about ten seconds. I was there in June, midweek, not too crowded. In these conditions, it is absolute paradise and total relax. You can spend hours reading or gazing at the sea or bathing in half a meter with small fish coming round your feet, or you can swim out and admire Sperlonga from the sea. Sure, you won't get the wonderful fish of the Red Sea but the water itself is stunning, and you are two hours from Rome. If you are looking also for a bit of life, you can climb uphill and visit the beautiful, adorable Sperlonga: the ancient center of this small town on the cliff is ten minutes walking from the beach hotels, and it is a maze of white washed little streets and steep stairs. You can find small shops there, and bars. Restaurants everywhere (the mozzarellas really are fantastic). The Amyclae hotel is not cheap (in June I spent 145 euros per night, half board, for a double used as a single room with sea view). And this is a three star hotel. But you pay for the location. Next time I think I may look around for another hotel just for variety's sake but this hotel is very nice all in all (but I may eat outside). No swimming pool (who needs a swimming pool with such a beach?) Free parking lot at a short distance from the hotel. One note: going down the coast towards Gaeta, a few kilometers from Sperlonga, you will find the local Archeological museum housing the gigantic sculptures found some decades ago in the "Villa di Tiberio", a villa the Roman emperor (good choice!) built right under Sperlonga, with a nice grotto for a dining room. Great little museum and absolutely fantastic archeological park with the ruins of the villa. A great way to spend a couple of hours. Antoher note: the hotel really IS accessible to wheel chairs, down to the beach (reachable by lift), and it may have a special room (I did not ask)but wheelchairs do not take kindly to sand, and the Amyclae lacks an outside terrace of its own (but the areas and the lungomare all around are wheel chair accessible).

We were enjoying the hotel so much that we never went to another beach of the area, it was so comfortable to take the lift from the rooms and get directly to the beach. All equipped and each rooms with its own private umbrella, chairs and especially lot of space...we noted double free space respect to the other ones of the same area.
The rooms are in line for a good 3 stars , comfortable but especially we loved the sea view...Amazing sunset every evening!
Breakstaf full and fresh, even with home made cakes...we loved the cappuccino made by Mr Fabio, he was astonishing us every morning.
The staff is really gentle, especially the owners that are always present.
We liked it and so organize to came back with our children and friends too

...And I wouldn't choose to stay in any other hotel. Sperlonga is just too cute of a place. And Amyclae is just as cute. And, if you'd take my word for it, - the best in Sperlonga. Best placed, best designed, the most relaxing ambient atmosphere. We wanted to have a half-day trip from Rome, but decided we must stay! And we sniffed around a couple of beach-sided hotels. This was the winner for us hands down.

The hosts are unitrusive, simple, laid back people.

The rooms are reasonably sized, bathrooms could be bigger, but when you have such a paradise outside, an awesome beach view, which you feel belongs just to you, it'd be a sin to complain about anything!

That's how this hotel makes you feel. At least, it made us feel that way.

It's a poem of a town, and a song of a hotel. Stay there.

Stayed here the first week of july and liked it a lot. The rooms are maybe a bit small and the beds are as hard as in any italian three-star hotel, but that almost goes without saying. Shower on the really small side, but other than that the bathroom was nice and clean.

Flat screen television and air condition in room. Also we found out that you could borrow an internet cable to hook up your laptop (free of charge), which was very appreciated since Sperlonga didn't seem to have any internet cafés.

Balcony with sea view absolutely worth the extra money. Very nice reception staff. Breakfast a bit boring, but quite alright. Sunbeds and unbrella on the beach included and the water was wonderful. Probably the best Italian beach I've been to (that includes Amalfi, Positano, Tropea, Alghero).

Sperlonga was just perfect size-wise. And in the beginning of july the beach was not overcrowded other than on saturday and sunday.

Nice family hotel. It has been renovated so the main lobbly and restaurant are very pretty with amazing views of the sea and the nearby coast. The sunset is breathtaking.
The service is good, and if you do half board and have small children the staff really go out of their way to make them feel welcome. We had a baby with us and the chef made vegetalbe soup (with all the veggies ground up) for her every day and allowed us to go into the restaurant 30min before it opened so the baby could be fed in a calm setting.

The rooms are kind of small, I didn't like that, but there's airconditioning, a fridge, a TV, and we had a balcony with a wonderful sea view so all in all it was fine. There's a private beach in front of the hotel and you get your own spot with chairs and everything. The beach is not very big but the water is amazingly blue and very shallow so even babies can enjoy crawling around in the water without too many risks. If you wade out far enough it does eventually get deep but very gradually so it's good for all ages.

The food in the restaurant was classic italian cuisine with some variety. Breakfast was a little scarce, no English breakfast available, but yummy enough if you like continental breakfast.

The hotel has a parking and is right in front of the main bus stop so easy to reach in any way. It is walking distance from other seafront restaurants and a merry-go-round for kids and also not far from the mian town, which is lovely but quite a trek uphill.

The PRO: position is outstanding, the room was facing the sea, the reserved beach wasn't overcrowded as the umbrellas are limited to guests of the facility.
The CONS: Overpriced in my opinion. The room is very dated and the aircon was an extremely noisy 90's split dripping water hanging on top of the room's door. The room was adjacent to the elevator's shaft and its noises were part of the night's soundtrack, accompanied by the rant of the aircon vent. The formula of "mezzapensione" (half board was MANDATORY while booking on line. And that means dinner is part of it (besides breakfast). Talking about dinner: below average. Food option/quality was not spectacular and breakfast had the excessive water used for diluting the juices. Basically it ended to be colored water with no taste. Overall if the price was HALF of what we ended up paying, I'd say that could be ACCEPTABLE. But looks like all the areahad an excessive increase of prices.
