My sister and I recently stayed at Olas Verdes for 9 nights as we celebrated our 60th birthday. We could not have been more pleased with our stay. From the very start Olas Verdes provided 5-star service. Our shuttle from the Liberia airport (arranged by Olas Verdes) was timely and flawless in spite of the torrential rain that started in mid-ride and the roads that were closed as a result. From the moment we arrived at the hotel we knew we had made the right choice in selecting Olas Verdes. We were looking for casual luxury and that is exactly what we found. Our first-floor suite could not have been more perfect and our outdoor veranda which backed up to the jungle felt so private and yet was seconds away from all the action. Sustainability is important to us and Olas Verdes with its Platinum LEED certification is the real deal. We spent just over a week at Olas Verdes and ate almost all of our meals at the amazing El Manglar restaurant. We enjoyed multiple days of surf lessons with Alonso who got these 60 year old women moving and shaking in the waves. Kudos to him! We went on daily boogie board sessions, practiced yoga, and got massages. The hotel is an easy 10 minute walk to the nearby shops so we made daily excursions to “town” as well. The hotel helped us to arrange zip line, bird watching and kayaking excursions. No matter what you need, the staff at Olas Verdes will help to make it happen. They will call you a tuk tuk, make a dinner restaurant anywhere you like, stand with you in the rain while you wait for your taxi. There is no pretense at Olas Verdes. All of our fellow guests were just there to have a great time, be active and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. We made wonderful friends during our stay of both fellow guests as well as the staff at the restaurant, the front desk and all the other staff members working so hard every day to make our stay wonderful. This boutique hotel is a gem in an absolutely perfect location. I truly could go on and on suffice it to say, we loved our stay and we will be back. If you are looking for a place to stay in the Nosara area, you owe it to yourself to check out Olas Verdes and experience the best that Playa Guiones has to offer.

Everything about this hotel is fabulous, from its location a short walk from the beach, to the beautifully landscaped pool to the amazing staff. The hotel collect from the airport and despite our flight to Nosara arriving half an hour early the hotel driver was waiting when we arrived. The lounge part of the rooms were very spacious, which we hadn’t really appreciated from the website. We also appreciated the cookies, water bottles and juice in our rooms on arrival. Having safari surf based on site and the proximity to the beach were a huge plus. The restaurant food was excellent, as were the smoothies. The staff were all fantastic and created a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Special mention to Diego on reception. We would all love to return ASAP.

Olas Verdes is a beautiful place, it is well designed and the location is great. I think the strength of this place are the people- all employees were nice and wanted to help and make your stay great. So why not 5 stars? 1. I think this place is a bit pricey 2. We stayed in the poolside room on the second floor, and you can hear everything that is going on. 3. The main issue- ongoing maintenance. The room is big and well designed, and it is a shame that so many things aren't working: the safe didn't work, the windows didn't close all the way, it took ~10 mins to get hot water in the shower and the pressure was really bad. I think that if the hotel will put effort in ongoing maintenance, it will be the perfect place.

I can't say enough about olas verdes! We have been coming to Nosara for several years. Olas verdes has become our favorite place to stay. Everyone is so warm and friendly and make you feel very welcome. It is right on the 200m line which gives you direct access to the beach through a really cool jungle path. The restaurant, El manglar, is great as well. The bartender, Raol, makes the perfect refreshing libations, all from scratch and takes great pride in his craft. The adjoining surf school, safari surf, led by our new friend Jeffrey, are very professional and offer lessons from beginner to advanced. Thank you once again olas verdes from making our vacation unforgettable. See you in November!!

This is absolutely a gem of a boutique hotel located in Nosara, Costa Rica. Although quite an adventure from the Liberia Airport; we were thankful for the assistance in the transport to get us to Olas Verdes. It is a surfers paradise (Safari Surf onsite- also excellent) and my daughter and I loved every minute of our stay. The room was perfect. The staff is exceptional. They provide 5+ star service and care to make your stay the best possible. The onsite restaurant is also very good and the included breakfast was an absolute bonus. There is plenty to do along with plenty of relaxation. We can't wait to come back and bring more of our friends and family to this very special place.

Room: AC in bedroom, which was essential for us! Really powerful ceiling fans in bedroom and living room area. We were in a smaller suite, but had plenty of room for our small family. Amenities were fantastic, especially the laundry service. We also really liked the local coffee, teas and cookies in the kitchenette. Cute little balconies from which we saw a lot of wildlife including howler monkies, iguanas and tons of birds. One note: room had lots of little bug friends, especially in the evenings. I don’t think this is something you can avoid in this area. You’re basically between the jungle and the mangrove swamp and are here to see nature up close. It wasn’t a big deal, we found that the bedroom with the AC and fan had much fewer uninvited guests than the warmer part of the suite. Didn’t get bit or anything, just know that you’re going to interact with nature in all its forms in Nosara. Food: Included breakfast was very tasty.tie options. Wife loved the Surfo Sandwhich! We had dinner in the restaurant one night. It was moderately priced (I think we spent about $50 US for three meals, no drinks), and really enjoyed the food quality and presentation. Other guests seemed to be enjoying the bartender’s creations as well. Pool: Basic pool, clean, sun-warmed. Lots of nice shower stations around to rinse off after pool or beach. Location: About 5 min walk to beach. Like all of Nosara, the roads in and out are rollercoasters of potholes mud puddles. We enjoyed the adventure of it, others might be annoyed that traveling takes a little extra time. Service: Very kind and helpful staff. Couldn’t say enough good thinks about the folks with whom we interacted. If we return to Nosara, would be happy to stay here again.

We had a great time at Olas Verdes! My mom and me stayed 1 week in the beautiful suite. The hotel is very close to the beach, a great option for surfers, and directly in the nature. We could see black monkeys on the trees directly from the window. I also have seen big and small lizards many times. Our visit was in the rain season, so everything was very green and fresh. Olas Verdes is a ecological hotel, they produce there own electricity, save water and care about the environment. Guests even get re-fillable water bottles with the hotel-design to take home, so as to reduce the plastic waste! There are bicycles at the hotel free of charge for guests to use, which is very convenient and nice, if you want to visit Nosara town or take a ride in the area. Also, something I see rarely any hotel do, every day guests have the possibility to get there clothes cleaned in the laundry and receive the cleaned and dried clothing in the room. Every thing is thought of! We also enjoyed the swimming pool, its nice to cool down after a warm day. The food was delicious, I think we tried nearly everything on the breakfast card! Lots of vegan and vegetarian options as well as non-vegetarian. The food is served in the restaurant on the hotel territory. The staff is very friendly and fun. I am very grateful for being able to stay at Olas Verdes and hope to come again someday! Thank you! Best regards, Anna

I chose this hotel for its beach access to the south side of Playa Guiones (close to Baker's beach), which has mellower and less crowded breaks for beginner and intermediate surfers. It has the shortest and most pleasant walk to south Guiones of all the hotels I stayed at or scoped out when I was in Nosara, including The Nomadic, Nosara Beach Hotel, Living Hotel, Yaxa, Norte, Gilded Iguana, and La Negra Surf hotel. The beach is a mere 5 minute walk (5 minutes for a person with short legs) through a private, shaded jungle path with adorable halloween crabs scuttling about. The path ends at a hut with benches where Olas Verdes guests often leave their towels and flip flops. You don't have to cross or walk along the increasingly busy streets of Guiones/Nosara nor risk getting run over by 8-year-olds on ATVs or road-raging tourists in SUVs and motorcycles. Olas Verdes is very peaceful, tucked away in the quieter side of town yet close enough to bike or walk to restaurants (5-10 minutes walk/bike to Downtown Guiones street, 20 minute walk to LuvBurger on the north end of Playa Guiones) - including my favorite restaurant La Ventanita. Lush jungle landscaping provides beauty, shade and entertainment: a family of coatimundis frequents the bridge at the hotel grounds. The staff are super friendly, proactive, and fluent in English. Guests tend to be families with kids. The vibes were indefatigably positive. No one was snooty. I loved it here so much, I stayed for two weeks in 5 different suites. Each suite comes with AC in the bedroom, a fan in the living room, a patio or balcony, private bathroom, and kitchenette. Wifi worked well enough for social media and video calls, although it did go out one night during a blackout. I did most of my reading on the comfortable couch in my in-suite living room, overlooking the jungle or pool. Suite 210 was my favorite of all, due to its large terrace overlooking the pool and proximity to the jungle path to the beach. The terrace had a table for 4 and rocking chairs. I wish the kitchen had a microwave like the other suites, but it was easy enough to just go to the on-site restaurant downstairs and ask them to reheat my leftovers from dinner. The bedroom was set back from the pool so it was quiet for sleeping. It's close to the surfboard racks next to the Safari Surf School, which shaved off some time from my daily "commute" to the beach. Suite 101 was my second favorite. It's a corner suite on the first floor and has wheelchair access with a huge bathroom that you can roll into (there's no lip to cross into the shower). This suite gets the most light - it had the largest windows and had the most space between buildings. It felt like it "breathed" (more airflow, ventilation) better than the other suites. I could do forest bathing just sitting in the living room because you're surrounded by trees and flowers all around. Being on the first floor, next to the bridge, you also get front row seats for people watching (and watching coatimundi, too) as they exit or enter the hotel grounds. if you don't want to see people passing by, you can try 201 upstairs. Suite 103 is the darkest suite as it is on a corner on the first floor next to a wall just 3 feet away. If I remember correctly, this suite had a microwave in it though, which made reheating my leftovers easy peasy. This was my least favorite. It didn't get much light nor air flow. Suite 104 is on the first floor, front and center to the pool, so it can be noisy. Suite 206 is on the second floor, set a little farther back from the pool, so it was quieter than 104 except for the animal that scurries about in the gable. Suite 207 is also on the second floor, and is close to the surfboard racks of the onsite surf school (Safari Surf School), so you don't have to walk along the narrow poolside path and knock everyone into the pool with your giant longboard when going to the beach. The high ceilings of 206 and 207 have some hard-to-reach gabled windows. They were the hottest rooms because I couldn't close the upper story windows without asking the staff to bring a ladder and help. 206 also had the most flying insects because I think they come in through the slotted grate in the upper story window and you can't close or block off the grate without a ladder. The on-site restaurant El Manglar is super convenient to have when you're just too tired or lazy to venture farther out for food. The food is decent if pricey. I love the almost all-inclusive pricing of the hotel. Whereas other hotels charge for bike rental, boogie board rental, breakfast, and local transfers, this was all included in the price at Olas Verdes. Having umbrellas to lend out to guests when it rains was also very helpful. The on-site Safari Surf School ran out of surfboard rentals when I was there... but it was Semana Santa (the week before Easter), the busiest time of the year. The nearby Agua Tibia Surf School also ran out of surfboard rentals. I ended up walking 15 minutes to Coconut Harry's to find a board. The nice thing is there is beach access near Harry's, so you can surf the board back to/from the hotel if you don't want to walk in the heat. Otherwise, Olas Verdes is very convenient for surfers. There are board racks outside every suite and the area is safe (with 24-hour security). Theft is not a problem at the hotel. You can leave your keys at front desk before you head to the beach. There's also a clubhouse with a smart TV that's great for catching up on sports, shows, and movies. Overall, I would stay at Olas Verdes again, especially if they had an extended stay rate for longer-term stays (a month or more).

Now THIS is what we call a thorough review. Thank you so much! You've given our guests a lot of good information here. We do, if fact, have several room options for everyone's likes and dislikes, for single travelers and growing families. Our front desk managers are always willing to work with the guests to give them the best choices available. We also appreciate our guests offering us new ideas and we will certainly consider an "extended stay rate". Thanks again for your input. We hope you will come back to visit us soon. Until then.... pura vida!!
