Just returned from a 5 night stay all inclusive stay here with my boyfriend. We had a really lovely few days and couldn’t fault the hotel. It has a really modern feel to it and was always spotless and the staff were always helpful and friendly. Food was good and we always found something we liked. Lunchtimes we tended to just have pizza and snacks from the snack bar ( the pizza was so good and like homemade thin crispy base pizza out of a proper pizza oven, so we were really impressed). Drinks were really good, we are wine drinkers and the white, rose and red were all lovely. Quite dry so if you like a sweet wine not for you, but we love a Pinot Grigio so we loved them all. The soft drinks were good too, the coke tasted exactly like real coke to us and not some of that horrible sweet cola you sometimes get in all inclusives. The first day we slept in as got in late so we didn’t get a sunbed round the pool ( that was probably our one negative point, that there didn’t seem to be enough sunbeds for all guests as the pool isn’t huge) but the other days when we weren’t so tired we just set an alarm an put our towels down on the sunbeds about 7.30am on the days we were staying by the pool and this was early enough, there were still sunbeds free about 8.30-9 but any later than this I think you’d struggle to get one. Entertainment was ok, not something on every night so if you have children you may struggle with them being a bit bored but as it was just us we were happy sitting having a drink and playing cards etc, i think there was entertainment on 3/4 Nights out of a week, a singer one night and dancers another night while we were there. There is a free shuttle bus to the beach from the hotel which is handy but the walk isn’t too long about 10 mins. We had our anniversary while there and went to the Italian restaurant “bassillico” down the road from the hotel which the hotel shuttle bus driver recommended to us, the food was nice here and made a nice change from hotel restaurant for a night. The beach is lovely, clear warm water with lots of bars and restaurants on the water which were so pretty. We hired a boat out from “imperial blue” one day and that was brilliant so would recommend that. Lots of other water sports etc on the beach. All in all we had a really lovely holiday and would recommend the Aelius. Would definitely return in future and felt like it was a lovely chilled out relaxing holiday which is just what we needed.

We stayed at the hotel with our not quite 2 year old on an all inclusive package. We had a great time. The food was excellent, lots of choice, something for everyone. The pools were very clean and not too crowded. We also enjoyed the water aerobics which were fab. Drink range was good. The cretan restaurant was a particular highlight, we visited twice. Staff were extremely helpful and pleasant. Location good, free bus to the beach or an easy walk.

This hotel claims it has 5 pools - two for kids, two for adults and one indoor. Do not be fooled by this false advertisement. The indoor pool is only allowed if you’re silent and getting a spa treatment, the kids pools are basically paddling pools next to the two main pools, and the third pool is private and restricted to guests staying in the rooms next to that pool. None of this was mentioned when booking or on arrival so naturally we were disappointed and fairly embarrassed to be removed from the private pool. So okay there’s two more pools which should be fine right? Except every morning before breakfast people reserve the sun lounges with their towels so they have them for the WHOLE day, even if they are not there. Baring in mind this hotel has hundreds of guests and about 50 sun lounges per pool. So as we go to breakfast at 8am there is no where to sit at the pool forcing us to go to the beach if we want to lay down next to water on our holiday. When we complained they tried to say that the private pool belongs to a different hotel ‘aelius’ which is separate from ‘lavris’ so has nothing to do with them. Again this was not clear when booking and to be honest is rubbish because there’s one reception and one restaurant for everyone. Secondly they offer you a ‘free 15 min massage’ on arrival. This is not a free 15min massage. You have to book the most expensive full body massage and you can get an extra free 15mins on top of that (which didn’t even happen anyway). That being said the two ladies at the spa Georgia and theano were really lovely and theano recommended a lovely traditional town nearby as the actual area is pretty derelict and run down and just full of similar hotels. Do your research on areas before you book!!! It seems like all the good places are south or west of the island. The staff were all in all very nice and helpful especially when our door lock broke and we got locked in to our apartment. The food was good but would highly recommend going right out of the hotel to the restaurant Basilico as that had the best Italian food and atmosphere. Safe to say we won’t be coming back.

I visited here in July 2022. When initially booking the hotel boasted that it had 5 pools - one of which was subject to a photo shoot with an ‘influencer’ to give it a more luxurious feel, however despite advertising it as one hotel, it’s actually divided into two and access from one hotel to the other is forbidden - for guests with the room numbers below a certain number. You have to stick by the main pool. Great, that doesn’t seem so bad? The only problem is that in a hotel with over 91 rooms, there are around 30 deck chairs, oh and of course all of them get claimed at 4:30am, leaving my friends and I to have no other choice but to stroll to the beach everyday, despite paying to be able to use the pool. The one redeeming feature were the massage staff. They had an amazing service and both GEORGIA AND THEANO were both wonderful people, helping us with cool places to visit when realising there wasn’t enough space to use the hotel facilities. Won’t be rushing back.

Booked a Deluxe Double room, absolutely nothing deluxe about it. Very run down, furniture stained, walls dirty and bathroom dated, shower awful. Hotel has newer parts to it which seem a lot nicer. Pools are lovely, but can’t get a sun bed unless you join the towel brigade at silly o’clock. Food and drink very basic, cocktails served in plastic cups most if the time. Beach lovely but a bit of a walk, or hotel provide shuttle bus 4 times a day, which is run down and seat belts don’t work. Overall would not book again.

I thought we booked a luxury hotel. Our room is not impressive (room 85). It is old and grubby. I think we are in the oldest room (block) of the park. Rest of the park looks good to very good! We (family of 5 persons) went today to the welness for a massage. That was very good. Thanks Argryro & Georgia.

Myself and my friend decided to book a massage alongside our 15 facial. I had a pregnancy massage with Argyro and she made me feel really relaxed and confident in her. The whole experience was easy to arrange, relaxing and I really felt calm and relaxed after the massage was done. The 50 minutes flew by I could’ve laid there forever! Thankyou so much to all the staff at the spa! You were all lovely and welcoming :)

We have just returned from a week's stay at Aelius Hotel and Spa. We arrived at the hotel in the afternoon and was greeted by welcoming receptionist. We got asked to take a seat and was provided with a bottle of water and a cold freshen up towel which we thought was a nice touch. On arrival they ask for the hotel voucher so make sure you have this printed within your travel documents. We were shown to our rooms pretty quickly after filling out some hotel documents which is what you want after a 4 hour flight. Hotel and Rooms: We were told on arrival that we had a sea view room which me and my partner were excited about but was disappointed when we soon realised a sea view room is not a sea view. We had a balcony over looking a foot path and below us the private pool rooms. In the distance you can see the sea but it shouldn't be classed as a sea view if its not. Our room was classed as deluxe double which was 2 single beds pushed together, the room was nice and spacious but the only extra your paying for is to have slippers and robes which you won't use in summer months (Room is fine if you just want somewhere to rest and change for a week away). The hotel advertises the new part of the hotel on websites more which are the rooms with the private pools or the supreme swim up pools which we would recommend if your thinking of visiting the Aelius if we would of known we would of paid the extra for these rooms as they truly do look worth it. The website can be misleading as it promotes that more that your standard/deluxe rooms. After a night sleeping on 2 single beds we spoke to reception and they resolved our problem by placing something on our bed so it made it a double. The cleaners do an amazing job! Fresh towels, new bedding daily apart from Sundays which must be there day off. Evening entertainment is every other night. So on the nights without you could find yourself quite bored which lets the hotel down slightly but on the nights you had entertainment were good. Greek dancing, singers etc. We found one night the restaurant next door had greek dancing and singing which we really enjoyed (They try there best to get you dancing) Food and Drink: We were all inclusive. The food is everything you could want and something for everyone, I've seen a lot of reviews about food on here but don't quite understand some of the bad reviews as they provide everything from Greek food to your stand chips, pasta etc even if your a fussy eater you'll be able to survive for a week on something. A lot of variation but things are repetitive which you expect with all inclusive. The only thing I found confusing is when you go for breakfast, lunch and dinner its table service for drinks when I've been to all inclusive before you normally help yourself so because the restaurant gets busy you normally just end up having 1 drink with you meal as the waiters are too busy serving everyone who enters. The snack bar by the pool is excellent serving pizzas, kebabs, fresh fruit and ice cream throughout the day. I'm not a drinker but they had a selection of all inclusive cocktails(you'll be drunk after 1 with the measurements) and beer. Soft drinks and fruit coolers. There's an A La Carte restaurant within the grounds which you have to book 3 days in advance. The food was not mind-blowing but was still nice. Out and About; The sandy beach, shops, bike/car/quad rentals , restaurants, excursions stalls, are about 10 minute walk. Down hill but getting back up is uphill so be prepared in hot weather. We hired a quad and motorbike for the day to get around the area (highly recommended) to do so. If waterspots is your thing then they provide this at the beach, Jetskis banana boats etc. We went to aquarium near by which we enjoyed. Children would love this! £10 euros for adults We recommend visiting a restaurant along the beach called ISLA - We had drinks and Shisha one evening here overlooking the sea at night. Spa You get 15minutes free of a massage of your choice so we added on to get 45 minutes each. We both had neck and back massages which were absolutely lovely. My partner had Georgia and I had Theano. We want to thank them both as it was perfect and peaceful which made us so relaxed before our journey home. We also just want to say a big thank you to Theano we first met her by the pool but she was so welcoming and friendly. Gave us places to visit round crete. Shes absolute asset to the hotel. We enjoyed getting to know her over the week we stayed and wish her all the best. Overall we had a lovely stay at the Aelius and for our first time visiting Crete. If you want a week away without having to travel far for anything then this hotel is for you.
