We found the hotel to be clean comfortable and the staff were very welcoming, Despina Maria and Mike on reception couldn't be more friendly or helpful. Our double room was modern spacious with a lovely garden view. The restaurant overlooks the sea and is nicely laid out. Unlike some reviews which puzzled, us we found the food very much to our liking. The food is fresh and well presented much of it in a traditional style. The many salads are amazing and varied daily. I am gluten intolerant and found many tasty choices daily. Unfortunately I could not eat the delicious Greek cakes and pastries. However there is always a selection of melons grapes etc. The hotel manager knowing of my dietary restrictions presented me with beautiful fresh figs one evening. Excellent guest care. Manos in the restaurant is attentive efficient polite and kind as are the rest of the staff at the hotel. The bar and pool are immaculate and cleaned daily with plenty seating and sun loungers. The proximity to the beach is a plus to this hotel. We had a wonderful holiday here and would recommend a stay at this hotel.

I was ecstatic to go home and finally be some place else. The food was disastrous - a lot of processed foods, unpleasant aftertaste (especially meat), dripping with oil, same meals being served 3 days in a row. It was making me sick so I explored the restaurants nearby, which is a shame as I was paying for AI menu. This place doesn't do Crete justice. Cringey comments/propositions from the staff directed at women. A sense of tourists not being respected.

Fantastic hotel, right on Kalia beach. The rooms are clean and modern with the towels changed, and room cleaned and tidied every day except Sundays. The hotel is set out like a western compound in the Middle East with palm trees, grassy areas and gardens. The staff are very helpful and friendly. The all inclusive package includes breakfast, lunch, dinner and all drinks, including alcoholic. The food is very varied and plentiful and they keep refilling the trays so there is no need to rush to eat, although some people will be queue jumping and pushing in front of you. There is live music at dinner every evening by a very talented musician named Antonio, we bought a cd of his music from him to bring home with us. If you are lucky, you can get a table outside and watch the sun set and the world pass by. The a la carte restaurant across the road right next to the water is also part of the hotel and offers traditional Greek meals for a special treat, on the night of our arrival at around 11pm when they were supposed to close, they stayed and cooked us food and did not rush us at all. The pool is warm and clean, the whole pool area was cleaned and mopped every morning and there was no mad rush to reserve a sun lounger with a towel that you see at other hotels. It is just a short walk from many small supermarkets and the shopping area of Gouves and a very pleasant and safe area to stroll in the evening after dinner. We felt bad one day when we were getting impatient at breakfast as they were a bit late opening and we have two young children who needed breakfast and we needed to be at the bus stop for an excursion, but found out later that it was Dekapentavgoustos - a special day in the Greek holy calendar, and they were having to work although we did apologise in the evening to them. A nice touch would be to put a kettle in the room so we can make our own hot drinks as and when we choose although you can help yourself to hot drinks, cold fizzy drinks and wine/beer in the restaurant, and there is a free bar by the pool open all day but with young children sometimes it is nice to have a drink in your room. Another nice touch would be a note on a notice board of which saints day it is so we can also show our respect to their religious days .

People there were nice, except one receptionist, it was great that Kalia is small hotel so its friendly place. And thats all. We had american and german cockroaches in the room - they promised to clean the room early and no… they cleaned it like always. Food is always the same. One day you have fish sticks for lunch, then nugetts and so on. Beetroot was served bad for two days- they put garlic in it to cover it up. Drinks were watered down- you know it, when you want Orange soda and you get water instead 🤣

We was moved to this hotel due to the hotel we stayed in was just vile.. however when arriving the hotel staff was lovely throughout our stay they were amazing! Could not have asked for a better end to a bad holiday experience the hotel staff were chilled and seemed very happy in there jobs they were friendly and always had time to ask how you were doing and greet you everytime they seen you. The food was good always freshly grilled chicken and pork chops the salad bar was good too! The pool was very clean and everywhere was spotlessly clean and tidy. The room! Had a massive balcony and a memory foam bed which just Hugged your body perfectly the shower was very good. Overall this hotel is definitely worth a visit it’s beautiful with genuinely lovely staff that are very attentive. The bar man likes to entertain by singing and dancing and having a laugh but can be quite rude when stressed with lots of orders.

This was my husband and my first holiday without children, we were supposed to be staying at a different hotel but got moved to the Kalia Beach Hotel. The place is amazing, rooms are good food is very good and had a lot of traditional Greek food. The staff at this hotel are all very friendly and helpful, the owner is around the hotel quite a lot and he is a truly lovely Cretan man doesn't speak much English but does look after all his residents. I went here with a fractured spine and found the hotel very easy to get around and all staff were keen to help. Would definitely go back here the sooner the better

We visited this hotel in October 2019 and I gave it a glowing report yes the food was hit and miss but the staff made up for it they were lovely So i expected the same I travel with my elderly mother and because its mainly flat we chose to return this October We stayed from 5th to 19th October and it was the worst holiday we've ever had the staff apart from 3 were miserable and sometimes rude and they were the same staff as 2019 ? The food omg was disgusting and we are making allowances for covid Every meal consisted of pork chicken spaghetti bol Salad bar had 6 dishes on it mainly tomatoes and cucumber beetroot and grated carrot only 2x did we even get lettuce no butter for the bread no mayonnaise for salad Sweets consisted of watermelon occasionally grapes jelly and small cakes After the 2nd week we had just water melon and small cakes But back to the mains we were served fish fingers burgers dry turkey WINGS spaghetti every day The chicken was the pieces we would throw away it was mashed together with a sauce poured over it But yet the most wonderful meals were coming out of the kitchen no no not for paying guest but for the special customers who came in from the streets and had al acarte they were always priority The wine in the restaurant ran out many times and when I mentioned it we were told by the bar manager well no guest !!! Who the hell were we Between 10am and 11am you could not even get a coffee or any other drink the bar finished for all inclusive at 10.30 and most drinks after that were €5 No English TV entertainment was a table tennis or snooker Occasionally a man playing an organ in the far corner of the restaurant Because there wasn't many guest or staff they were all doing about 3 jobs each thats fine But when you watch someone who has been cleaning then serve from the bar with the same black gloves on and then go back to cleaning 🤔 I was called to the headmasters office for complaining and asked what MY problem was then just spoken to in broken English for 10 mins all about how he had been in hospitality 42 yrs his daughter works at one of the hiltons UK I couldn't believe he felt justified in serving us the crap he did He said about covid and how it hard it had been and how the hotel was full next year and would be much better and to come back then ... are you kidding me He also said he would try to improve the menu Leave you to guess whether he did or not Only to say he never approached me again Maybe said hello but never once asked if it was any better. Thank god for the Pella restaurant the food was fantastic but surely if you are all inclusive you shouldn't need to eat out most nights We hadn't budgeted for that Even dogs were allowed in the hotel restaurant probably because they like the food coz that's all it was fit for To say we were disappointed is not enough it was DISGUSTING I think I'm a very fair person as you can see on my other reviews I try to tell it as it really is Worst still we had booked direct with the hotel and paid more than anyone else All I can say is no way is this a4* hotel not even a 2* Final word rooms were clean Just think about it seriously before you book there are much better hotels locally who make their guest a priority

Children and teenagers have nothing to do there, no noisy nightclubs nearby - that makes this hotel a great place for a middle-aged couple. Nice room but we had some problems with the toilet but they were fixed asap. Very well sound-proofed windows. All inclusive had plenty of different choices during different days - pork, chicken, fish, turkey, lamb liver, many salads , spaghetti, greens, rice, pommes, sweets, breads, yogurt etc etc. Wifi was great, at least in our room. Stayed in the old building.
