I have no bad words to say about this hotel. We loved our stay! Upon arrival the hotel was overbooked (cancelled flights so no fault of their own), which was resolved easily and we were sent to a 4* hotel nearby with a big bag of food prepared from dinner, as we arrived late. Our room at Gouves Bay was extremely clean and spacious with a lovely view. No problems with the room facilities either. The gym was free and had most things you would need. I also had a 40 minute massage which was extremely good value and the masseuse seemed experienced. There was a large array of food on offer, it may have been a bit repetitive but there is something for everyone and this was not an issue for us, couldn’t find fault with anything we ate. The pool area was gorgeous day and night, always enough sun beds and it is right opposite the sea, with beautiful sandy beaches either side, along with shops, bars and restaurants. The location is perfect, 20 min taxi drive from Heraklion airport, 25 minute by bus which was only €4 and the stop was a 10 min walk from the hotel. Heraklion is a beautiful city to explore. It is also equally as close to Hersonissos which has great night life and Malia a bit further. In the hotel itself there was an array of entertainment in the evening with a long dance show on one of the nights. Finally, the staff were amazing, so accommodating, no question was a problem and everyone throughout the hotel was so friendly. In particular the bar men were the so incredibly friendly and they made our stay that much better, the drinks they made were also great. Overall, we had a really good stay, a good value hotel which goes above and beyond expectations.…
It was a pleasure staying at the gouves bay hotel. Excellent food and service. The rooms are clean, the staff was wonderful. The pool and the playground for kids is great. The restaurant good. Overall the experience was brilliant and enjoyed the vacations a lot. Without hesitation I will definitely stay there again. Last but definitely not least was the spa!!! That was perhaps the best massage I have ever had. I had a relaxing 50 min massage the price was great and after a year of tension, anxiety and hard work finally I felt relaxed. A truly wonderful experience...
This is a small and friendly hotel and the staff are wonderful. The bar is by the pool and Joanna and Manos really made every visit there special. Two lovely ladies keep the rooms immaculate, breakfast is eaten overlooking the sea and the restaurant is open for a la carte meals. We had a wonderful stay there.
Nice, clean, good food. NOT A FOUR STAR HOTEL! Personnel is quite proffesional.Hotel beach not that good as it is rocky, but 300m away there's a sand beach. A bit noisy due to landing planes. All in all, a fair offer for a fair price.
Me and my partner stayed here for 2 weeks. We arrived early hours of the morning (2am) & were greeted by a very friendly and helpful receptionist Giannis. He gave us a ‘pack up’ each which consisted of meats, cheese , bread, salad and fruit as we had obviously missed all the food on our first day, due to flights being changed to late night flights. The rooms were basic, could do with a face lift & the shower needs redesigning!! The toilet was right next to the shower (not even a big enough gap to lay a floor towel between the shower and the toilet), with only a shower screen to the right which was where the sink was. When you put the shower on the wall it would spin round and absolutely soak the whole bathroom. The first few days we were finding our feet, the area is extremely quiet, a little too quiet for our liking. There are a few bars, and restaurants but not a huge amount at all. ‘The island’ is absolutely fantastic for food, drink & entertainment. If you enjoy more nightlife I’d recommend getting a taxi to Heronissos which is 10 minutes down the road. The food was OK, there was a good selection but it was repetitive, we had no intention of eating in for our whole 2 week stay, but we eat out more than we’d originally planned to. There was always chips, pizza & spaghetti bolonaise. Different variety of meats and fish, salad bars, the puddings were nice although again very repetitive it seemed to be different flavour mousse type desserts each day. Drinks were standard all inclusive local drinks, drinkable but definitely on the cheap side. I got through more rennies than ever before! The restaurant staff were lovely! Especially Annisa & Savina, we had a great laugh with them, they were so lovely to us! The bar staff in the hotel, Kostas & Dimitris were extremely friendly and made us feel very welcome, as did the entertainment team Jalel & Maria. We participated in the games jalel and Maria had organised such as table tennis tournaments, darts tournaments, boules & football. They also hosted music quizzes, disco evenings, a DJ and so on. They could not have done more to make everyone feel involved and ‘as one’. Unfortunately in our second week we found out jalel was leaving, great for him as he’d gotten a promotion, but the guy who replaced him was no match for these two. The first morning he’d taken over and jalel had left we played darts with him and other guests, we were the only English players, the rest were French which was not a problem. However the ‘entertainer’ stopped speaking in English, he started by speaking in French & then repeating in English which was fine, we understood what was going on. But then he stopped speaking in English and was only communicating in French. I found this extremely rude & felt as if we’d been forgotten about. Later on that evening, there was a music quiz, my partner guessed an answer correctly, he was told by the ‘entertainer’ it was incorrect.. it wasn’t. A French person answered incorrectly and was given the points. My partner went over to where the entertainer was stood to show him that he’d given the correct answer and he was told ‘no you Shazammed it’.. it was the Star Wars theme tune and the round was ‘guess the film’, since when could you use Shazam to find out what film a song is from??? (Sounds petty but it was the principle) This proved to me that the ‘entertainer’ either really disliked us as people or he just didn’t like the English. The following few days he did not come over to us to ask us to take part in any of the activities and blatantly ignored us. This was not a case of him not being able to speak English, he spoke great English. It was more he just did not want to. The pool was freezing cold, which I didn’t mind but it was soooo deep, you could only stand one end for about a metre and that’s only if you’re tall. The kids pool was ideal to relax and cool off in. However they were not cleaned regularly. There was a yellow stain at the top of the kids pool which seemed to be where the water had been stagnant over winter and not cleaned off! The adults pool also had what looked like suncream, oil & dirt floating in the corners, which was like it for a good 3 days. All in all, I’d definitely say this hotel is more a 3* than 4*, the friendly staff definitely made our stay a lot more pleasant, but a few attributes let it down.…
Myself and my partner had a 7 day, all inclusive stay at Gouves Bay. We enjoyed our stay here and would recommend if you’re visiting Crete. The staff were amazingly friendly and helpful, both at reception and at bar and restaurant. There was a good choice of drinks available with the all inclusive and the food was really varied, so there was no getting bored of the food at all or having the same main dishes every day! The hotel is not massive which was good, meaning that there was always space in the restaurant area and by the bar, and there was no racing to find sun lounger as there are plenty both by the pool and on the grass area by the beach. The rooms were very nice, decent size and good shower and plenty of space on the balcony too. There was some entertainment but this is not the hotel for you if you are looking for constant activities. There were daily activities that were a little repetitive. There was darts organised on multiple mornings we were there. There was also yoga, volleyball and football offered as well, each just once in the week we were there. The evening entertainment was dancing for all the nights that were stayed downstairs to see it. The guy in charge of the entertainment was great though. The area was nice too, only around 30 minutes from the airport and there is a small area with supermarket and a few other shops and bars next to the hotel.…
we stayed here for two weeks, the rooms were very basic but spacious the maids didn't clean it for 4 days and didn't replace the towels during this time the food was very bland and very much the same every day we had to eat out most nights due to this. the drinks were watered down the waitresses were friendly as were the bar staff other than that haven't got a good word to say regarding this. the entertainer in fhe first 10 days Janil was wicked and catered for all nationalitys however he was replaced by what I can only describe as an idiot who quite clearly had an issue with British people only interacting with the French and German people which was quite frankly rude and if you are thinking about booking this hotel I really wouldn't waste your money coming here overall a very underwhelming experience…
Stayed here as a family of three adults in the first week of June. Arrived around early afternoon and were shown to the restaurant for lunch as our rooms were a few minutes away from being ready. Food here is absolutely delicious. A large variety of tasty options and could not be faulted. The staff were really pleasant and kept tables clean and quickly cleared. There are two pools. One is very deep and the other is a childrens pool which is perfect for cooling off in. Plenty of sun loungers and relaxing day beds and even some hammocks ! Entertainment wise for the seven nights we were here we had two disco nights with a dj which were fab..one entertainment with dancers which were amazing and a music quiz night. The other nights there was music playing whilst we sat and had drinks. Plenty of choice of drinks and cocktails available. Rooms were a good size with plenty of storage. Bed was comfortable and air conditioning was very efficient. Complimentary toiletries were supplied and plenty of fresh towels. Only issues, if i had to find any, were the shower which seemed to shoot in all directions but it was basically a wet room so didnt cause a problem and also our door was extremely hard to shut and involved a lot of slamming ! The staff were all extremely friendly and we even had a hug goodbye from the lady on reception 😊. All in all, we had a wonderful break here and are hoping to return again later in the year. Thank you Gouves Bay Hotel !…
We had a very pleasant stay in this all inclusive hotel. Nice rooms, great food, good pool and great location. We also where very impressed by the hardworking and friendly staff. Thank you for giving us a great time, we will be back.👍🙋♂️
Great place to stay I would say a Dubai 4 * but a Greek 4*. Rooms were clean and could of facilitate with a iron. Food was OK I personally didn't enjoy the food but I've manage to eat something every time was plenty options to choose from. Soft drinks were cheap and undrinkable very very sweet the good think mi kids aren't very fussy. The local wine was so bland very very dry so i dint like. Overall was a good and relaxed holidays the drinks was a let down but still I would recommend.
