My friend and I stayed here in June 2022. Our first visits to Crete and we will Definitely be retuning ! Our flight was delayed and we arrived early hours of Sunday morning the staff were there to meet us they took us to our room and then back to the bar where they had laid on a cold platter and drinks for us. We stayed in the annex. The rooms were plentiful and clean and had everything needed including a kettle, fridge, safe and hairdryer. The food was buffet style and there was always plenty of choice and the staff were very attentive bringing drinks at lunch and evening meal. There was entertainment a couple of Nights but there were plenty of places around if you wanted to venture out. The location was great, close to the beach and supermarket and Gouves is a beautiful area, we went for walks and found some lovely shopping areas and bars. The main highlight for us was the staff at the blue Aegean! They were all so friendly and helpful and made us feel so welcome ! Nothing was ever too much! We even ended up changing our flights to stay a couple of extra days and the hotel accommodated us with no issues at all! Micheal, Yorgos and Stefano who worked tireless at the bar were amazing stefano eventually knew our drinks and would just get them ready for us ! What more can I say but ‘thank you’ to all the staff at the blue Aegean and to the reservation manager who accommodated our extended stay! We look forward to seeing you all again soon. ! On a final note the trip to spinalonga with jet2 as amazing and value for money would definitely recommend !!

Hotel's Favourite
Such a lovely little hotel!! Service was absolutely impeccable- everyone was so friendly and helpful and quick to take your drinks order!! The staff are really what makes the hotel so wonderful- I’d say it was some of the best service I’ve ever had! Food was really nice- the seafood night and the Italian night particularly stood out. Some of it could be slightly repetitive, but that wasn’t an issue for me, as I had some lovely Greek salad, pasta and fish pretty much every day! Options would be slightly more limited for vegetarians, particularly the themed dishes, but there were still always some options available. The room was lovely- very clean and bed was comfortable. We were very pleased to have a balcony with a sea view! The pool area was lovely and never too busy (possibly because we came at the end of September). We were always able to get loungers at any time of day and the pool was never crowded. The hotel was able to organise covid testing for us for our return flight to the UK- this cost €25 per person and someone came to the hotel to perform the test, emailing us the results a couple of hours later. Finally, the hotel is right by the beach!! So you could easily pop down for a swim in the sea after lunch and be back in time for 3pm ice cream at the hotel :) I’d give this place more than 5 stars if I could!!

Ok hotel, in terms of value for money it’s mediocre I would say. We upgraded to AI when we arrived as it was only €105 each for the week. The food was ok- nothing special best night was when they had more traditional Greek dishes. The food was never really hot though but we always found something to eat although some days were easier than others. I thought the salad selection was great and breakfast was always well catered for but lunch could have been a bit better and the evening meal tended to have a bit more choice than lunch. In terms of drinks choices this is pretty poor to be honest but on par with all inclusive options in Greece so no shock. If you’re wanting to get drunk you’ll need to buy alcohol because it’s extremely watered down. However this means no drunken annoying guests running around the hotel so it’s a good thing in some ways. We did eat out 4 nights as we like to try local tavernas and it was nice to get out of the hotel and walk along the promenade at night to see the sunset too. There’s a lovely viewpoint at the little church at the bottom of the road from the hotel turn left and it’s about a 5 minute walk along. The location of the hotel is great only 20 minutes from the airport and 5 minutes from the beach we found it’s best to turn right at the bottom of the road and go to the section of beach there as it’s sand rather than pebble. It’s only €9 for two loungers and umbrella so worth going out for the day to break your holiday up and the beach is lovely. There’s a supermarket outside of the hotel too. The pool area was decent with plenty of sun beds and parasols. They look tatty but they’re quite comfy. It never felt overcrowded. The play park literally has two swings and a slide. Nothing fancy but it’s a nice touch and little kids seemed to like it. The kids playroom downstairs was scruffy, I took my child in there and walked straight back out to be honest I didn’t even want to sit down it looked really dirty and the toys were all broken anyways. There is a games room downstairs too for slightly older kids which they seemed to like. The entertainment I can’t really comment on as we went out the nights the entertainment was on except one which was a live singer and she was actually really good and I don’t like that kind of thing so I was surprised I enjoyed it. There was 3 nights of entertainment on in the week we were there. The cleaners were brilliant I thought and we left a tip for them as they work really hard. The rooms are basic but the cleaners do a good job. They forgot clean towels one day but when I called reception they had new towels brought up within ten minutes. The rooms have aircon, tv, we had a bath and shower, microwave, kettle, fridge and we had a safe too although this was €10. I would expect that for free these days to be honest. We had ants and I called on the first day within about 15 minutes of being in the room. Someone came up about 45 minutes later and sprayed something. I had to call again the next day and the same thing happened someone came and sprayed. Although this did reduce the number of ants we did still have them the whole week. The staff- I feel like I missed something because I have read many reviews before we came and everyone was raving about how friendly and amazing the staff were so I had high hopes and honestly this then made it really disappointing when I felt this turned out not to be the case. I really feel like there was only a handful of the staff we encountered that were friendly. Mostly some of the younger girls waiting the tables in the restaurant and one guy who worked in the restaurant during the day. I didn’t think the bar staff were friendly at all except one of the women who worked on the bar occasionally. I’ve been to lots of Greek islands and that’s one of the things I love about Greece the hospitality and how friendly they are but I have to say I think the Cretans might be the least friendly Greeks I’ve encountered so far. Not that anyone was rude or anything I just didn’t think anyone was that friendly and welcoming like I’m used too from other islands or even from just reading prior reviews. All in all we had an amazing holiday and wish we were there longer than a week but I think the hotel is ok. I would give it 3 stars and as long as you don’t go with massively high expectations and you get out and about and have a look at the local area aswell as the hotel then you will enjoy your holiday here.

Stayed for a week with my husband and another couple. Lovely staff, very welcoming. Perfect location. Couple of mins stroll to a gorgeous stretch of golden beach. Shops and Tavernas nearby. Pool clean. Loungers a bit worn and uncomfortable. Food pretty good but not very warm on several occasions. Puddings disappointing, only fruit available was kiwi, orange and apple slices. Would have loved done grapes or melon. All inclusive drinks stop at 11pm. Had a bit of a run in with Stef the barman on our first full day. We had been out in the resort since an early breakfast. Arrived back at 10:40pm and 3 of our group tried to order a round of drinks for the 4 of us. He was happy to give one drink each, was stroppy about us asking for a 2nd drink and refused a 3rd drink. Now I get that he can't have everyone stocking up on loads of drinks just before the 11pm cut off and I agree with this but bearing in mind we'd not used any of the all inclusive food or drinks in the past 12 hours I thought this was very unreasonable. . .but it really was his unprofessional, stroppy, rude manner in dealing with us that really shocked us. I think he might have had 2nd thoughts and maybe felt guilty about it because a short time later he came over and slammed another round of drinks down on our table. No smile, no apology. Anyway, the following day our husbands and to make the peace with him and apologise and he apologised too. All was fine after that, it didn't ruin our holiday but did leave a sour note. Would we go back again?? It's a really decent hotel and lovely location. I am not a fan of all inclusive though and there were hardly any UK people there. Mainly German I think, who weren't the friendliest and seemed to get preferential treatment with table service when the outdoor entertainment was on one night. We seemed to be the only people not getting offered table service for some reason? We probably wouldn't go back but others do and I can see why they have a really nice time.

This holiday was a birthday present and I had not booked this hotel. We arrived very late in the evening and the staff where very welcoming and offered us a snack and drinks. We went to apartment and settled in. This was a fully inclusive holiday so there was not need to cook anything. Food was good and plentiful (just one thing, they could have had more fish options). The pool was clean and a good size, in fact they had two pools - one on the other side of the hotel. The hotel was a family run business and this showed by the attentiveness of the family members, especially Stef who was on the ball with everything going on, anything you needed, you only had to ask. George we saw a lot who engaged with us and enjoyed some banter. Some entertainment was laid on some evenings. We also went on couple of excursion but these were not arranged by the hotel, so you can do as much or as little as you want.

Well what can I say? Visited the Blue Aegean at the beginning of the month for a well needed, relaxing break and honestly didn't want to leave. The hotel is family run and the staff are all friendly, welcoming and cannot do enough for you. The room was exactly as shown on the website, close to the pool, bar and restaurant, which were all immaculately clean. Maid service was exceptional, even provided us with extra towels when we asked for some. Even though it was the start of the season, there was still a great range of food, which couldn't be faulted at all. The bread rolls were all in the same basket to start with, but as soon as I mentioned my seed allergy they were separated. All in all this was a great holiday, and I can honestly say that we have made some great friends and cannot wait to book again. I have even recommended the Blue Aegean to all of my family and friends. Well done Stefanos, Dimos, Giorgos and the rest of your staff, you really did make our holiday one to remember.

There is so much love for this hotel, maybe I’m missing something but I would say it’s average at best. There’s no lift in the main building and no concierge so I had to drag my case up 3 flights of stairs. The room was clean and modern but nowhere near enough storage for 3 of us, the children lived out of suitcase on the floor as there was nowhere to put it. There’s no soundproofing and you can hear every noise from the bar, your neighbours, their tv and everyone going to bed, never got to sleep before 1am. The cleaner came in one day and washed our floor leaving a smell of faeces behind. Pretty disgusting but reception were very quick at rectifying this. I’ve attached a picture of a coffee stain on the stairs that was there for 4 days out of 5 so cleanliness isn’t exactly top notch! The food is mediocre, lukewarm mostly, pork every day in some way or another. The Greek salad was lovely and it’s the only holiday I haven’t gained weight on as I just ate salad at lunch and dinner. Never enough bread out in the morning and waited every day for coffee cups The pool area is ok, plenty of beds, they play a bit of music, and when they don’t some guests play their own speaker so we’re all subjected to 3 rounds of the greatest showman which was just lovely!!!!!!! The bar seating area is too small so in the evening you end up sitting by the pool. Everyone seems to know each other and it’s all a bit cliquey & weird. The gym is a death trap, old bits of equipment in various states of working order, not even a pair of same size dumbbells. Use it at your peril! The local area is pretty derelict and run down, it was end of season but still mostly shut down. I would not return to this hotel, too small, too cliquey, mediocre food, area poor and cleanliness questionable. The staff are very kind and friendly, and they are a credit to the hotel.

Just spent 10 nights at this hotel the staff go above & beyond to make your stay special & the accommodation is lovely & immaculately clean - if you want somewhere quiet where you get to know your fellow guests this is the place to go, out of 10 nights we only had entertainment on 2 of them. The food is ok you always find something to eat but it’s never hot which is a big downfall the all inclusive drink is very limited and finishes at 11 o’clock - we met some lovely people & had a good time but as it’s end of season resort very quiet & weather changeable
