Another great visit to these family run apartments this time along with friends. We received a great family welcome on arrival and Ella made sure we had everything we needed to have a great holiday We had requested that our friends accommodation was near to us as this was their first visit ( we have been here 5 times altogether) and they were. The rooms were spotless towels changed every other day enough utensils for a self catering holiday supermarket on site had everything you would need at reasonable prices. Thank again see you next May
The location was perfect right by the sea .In the apartments they are spotlessly clean ,and have lovely bathrooms .The beds were comfy and we slept really well. The balcony was large and lovely to sit on either with an early morning tea or a glass of wine at night . I’m sat writing the review on our last morning pella is perfect for unwinding and relaxing .I will really miss being at the apartments because all the staff here are so friendly and make you feel so welcome .
The staff are really helpful and cooperative the rooms are quite big, spacious yet modern . It’s really, really silent at night which means you can get a incredible nights sleep . The pools are lovely in the day and lovely at night . There is a good restaurant that does really nice food
Well to be honest I had never been away on my own before and from start to finish it was amazing jet two were the best the Pella apartments were so clean friendly couldn't so enough very kind welcoming helpful and u had the best holiday ever ... Some of these recent reviews are unacceptable. The cleaners work very hard, always with a smile, the accommodation description tells you of their remit for cleaning, it also advises cooking facilities etc. when considering booking please consider value for money, you don’t get the Ritz on the cheap! As for the beds, in Greece they are most often hard, we stayed in the new apartments when first built, the mattresses were extremely comfortable, that was a couple of years ago. This year not so, soft around the edges but hard with no give in the middle. Explanation, I was struck but the overwhelming amount of morbidly obese people, sorry if this offends but if I were a mattress I too would collapse under pressure. These people work so hard to give you the best holiday, cut them some slack!…
Had a lovely 11 night stay at Pella, the staff at both the shop and the restaurant are lovely, nothing is too much trouble, food was great n do a lovely mojito. The apartment was basic the bed was ok , I wish I had taken my own pillow as bit hard for me , but some people maybe ok with that. Lovely beach nearby, pool was nice for a cold dip if you get a tad hot, short walk to other bars and bus stop not miles away but a decent uphill walk. Had a nice time would return
A friend booked this for us both based on previous reviews of the apartments and the restaurant. What a let down in the apartments. Mismatched sheets, rock hard pillows, no cleaning of bathroom. I know we chose self catering but seriously the lack of cleanliness was diabolical. We are ok with purchasing loo roll etc as it is self catering but when the towels are rock hard and the bedding doesn't match for what we paid I expected more. The pool bar has about 3 different staff for what seemed a very megre bar. The shop/supermarket was way over priced so we went to the supermarket on the main street. The saving grace was the main restaurant where you got a decent ber and good nosh with a friendly smile and atmosphere. Completely different atmosphere from the pool bar which was more of a "you are wasting my time" feeling as the staff sat at either the end of the bar or at a table and drank and smoked. They seemed never to have time for you as they changed the few staff members frequently. Apartments a zero, pool a 2 as it was cold, restaurant a 10. Would return to restaurant but not apartments 🙄…
Great all round apartments. We had upgraded to the brand new 2 bed apts which were slightly set back which was better for us as away from the road at the front, it was lovely and had two balconies. Only gripe was mattresses and pillows are as hard as rocks, it did affect our sleeping tbh.. 2 pools with plentiful sun beds although they were ancient they wernt uncomfortable at all surprisingly. Pool bar on site was fine. Restaurant on the front is the best in resort which is great to have on site, we like a walk out at night but often ended up back at base, the lady that runs it is superb at her job.
Adequate accommodation located near a few cafes and restaurants, sandy beach a couple of minutes walk. It’s a quiet area with not much to see beyond the sea front but you can walk up to Gouves old village ( 45 mins) . We chose Pella apartments as they’re self catering and were hoping to do some basic meal preparation in the apartment. I’ve stayed in various parts of Greece so I’m well aware of the simple accommodation style- but the kitchen was very poorly equipped. No washing up liquid or sponge/ cloths, so we had to buy those. Knife that couldn’t cut straight. Felt the owners were not expecting anyone to actually prepare food in the apartment! The two ring plug in hob couldn’t be used on the tiny worktop as the kettle was on there. Had to rig it up on a wooden table which wasn’t very safe! No hand soap in the bathroom and as mentioned by others you get one toilet roll on arrival then need to buy more if required! Agree with comments by others that Pella the owner is warm and welcoming on arrival. Staff were all pleasant and the apartment we had in the newer block at the back was one of the larger with plenty of storage and space . There are two small pools which we barely used as prefer sea swimming, but great for those who like a quick dip, not really big enough for real swimming. A few loungers around which unfortunately some guests tended to ‘reserve’ by leaving towels etc even if not using them. The beds were very lumpy and uncomfortable- we turned the mattresses over which helped a little. Cleaning was done regularly and we had fresh bedding and changes of towels during our 10 day stay. Overall the apartment was good enough, just felt they skimp on basic provision and of course as there’s a shop on site most guests will buy the necessities there. You can access the bus to Heraklion up on main road which is a 15 min walk, en route there are a number of tavernas as well as several along the sea front.…
Just had 3 wonderful weeks in Gouves. We have returned to Pella apartments year after year and love it. Fantastic location. We had a lovely warm welcome from Pella, so friendly and helpful and goes above and beyond to make your stay the best possible. Everyone in the supermarket are so friendly and helpful. Eleni and family work so hard too in the restaurant which serves lovely food. We choose to stay in the older apartments at the front if possible because the views are spectacular…. certain things in the rooms like shower could do with upgrading as they are small with shower curtains not a cubicle but would still prefer the older apartments because of the location. Would highly recommend and that is why we return every year.
