Stayed in hotel for 1 night in September 15. As per other reviews agree that the hotel is a beautiful building with very interesting history surrounded by beautiful gardens. Views form balcony second to none. Some parts e.g. furniture could perhaps do with some tlc, however positives far outweighed any slight negative. Also found Beatrice to be very helpful and...

I can only say good things about this beautiful little hotel, it is like staying with friends, who have a amazing house! We stayed for four nights as 3 couples, no one had 1 single negative thing to say! All the staff are wonderful, and we loved the lady who made amazing coffees and scrambled eggs in the morning ,...

I've been meaning to write a review for sometime on the amazing place that is Villa Moorings. I have family in Barga and as a location I can not fault this stunning hillside town with its amazing people! I have stayed a few of the hotels around and they are all wonderful but my favorite is Villa Moorings. The first...

My husband and I had the pleasure of staying at Villa Moorings for a week recently and truly enjoyed our time there. The bed was comfortable, the facilities adequate and the hosts outstanding. Beatrice and Anna Rosa went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable and had a good time in Barga. The hotel is a slowly-to-be-renovated...

My family were all in Barga for a wedding. Villa moorings Hotel was the most perfect hotel. It has so much atmosphere and makes you feel you have gone back in time to a luxurious Italian Villa!! All the staff treated us like one of their family and nothing we asked for was to much trouble. Just loved it so...

Our trip to Barga was undoubtedly one of the highlights of our recent Italy trip. The drive from Pisa through the mountains was twisty but exciting! on arrival at Villa Moorings we were greeted with a bottle of complimentary Prosecco and snacks on the terrace, an unexpected treat from owner Beatrice and her excellent side kick Ana Rosa( my colleague...

We stayed in the family room on the second floor (we in the US would call this the third floor) and it was perfect for me and my two adult children! Our hostesses could not have been more kind and accommodating and we loved the open patio in the tower! Beautiful views and welcome privacy for each of us. The...

We stayed 3 nights in the Villa Moorings. IT is a wonderful villa just outside the old town of Barga. The hotel has been maintained in the style of a villa with the grand staircase leading to the bedrooms and the rather grand entrance into the hotel itself. Our room was extremely comfortable, furnished well with good views and a...

We stayed for 4 nights in July and really enjoyed the experience- the room was first class and we made good use of the swimming pool - breakfasts were superb - furnishings and décor are very tasteful - however what really separates this hotel from others is Beatrice and Anna-Rosa who run the Villa Moorings - they are warm, friendly,helpful...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Amazing early 1900 villa in the gorgeous ancient town of Barga. The staff is amazing as are the grounds, pool, breakfast, rooms, and balconies are stunning. The staff washed our baby clothes every day to help us with our long trip. The villa's tower is the best lookout point in that stunning region of Lucca. The owner offered to help with geneology as well. Just superb. We are going back! ... more   less
