We spent a lovely week in Riccardo's apartment. Despite the poor weather Riccardo couldn't have been more helpful with travel, restaurant and places to visit recommendations. With hindsight we should have paid for the heating as everything felt a bit damp due to the bad weather. The location was great as we could safely walk into the town in the evening and visit all the lovely restaurants. A lot of other places in Italy we have been have been poorly lit at night but this wasn't the case here. Despite the weather my 10 year old loved the pool and was in it most days!

Great week in Barga at Riccardos holiday cottage. We had such a warm welcome and the cottage, garden and pool were all excellent. We could walk into Barga for our shopping and evenings out. It's a lovely little town and we never tire of the place. Could happily go back to Riccardos!

We have just returned home after a fortnight in Tuscany. We stayed for 7 nights at Barga Holiday Home which is a lovely place. Riccardo Pieri and his parents, Mario and Mariolina are superb hosts and make everyone feel welcome and included. It's fantastic to stay with an Italian family - Riccardo speaks English so nothing is lost in translation but he was very patient with my attempts to practice italian. Nothing is too much trouble - Riccardo has helped us sort out car problems, book concert tickets and dinner reservations. Every week Mario hosts a dinner and it's a chance for all the guests to get together. Barga is a lovely old town with plenty of good bars and restaurants and there is a friendly atmosphere. There are plenty of walks both short and long in the area and Riccardo will advise on these .We had a hire car which enabled us to explore the numerous hill top villages and enjoy the mountains. Barga is also a great base for touring Pisa, Lucca, Florence, Cinque Terre as well as the immediate countryside. There are three apartments to choose from and a fantastic swimming pool with views across to the surrounding mountains. It's the sort of place you want to keep to yourself but they will have 3 more appartments available next year so it seems a good time to share it with others. www.bargaholidayhome.com
