Dont be put off by the rather basic reception area and bleak courtyard. Upstairs there are a variety of clean comfortable rooms. We had a large, airy room with two double beds, big window and private bathroom for $20. The wifi was OK. Owners seemed very friendly. Tip: many of the rooms look into the courtyard so little natural light...

Excellent service , feels like home, owner is very helpful, they would arrange your meals, trips or anything else you require for your vacation. Beautiful town for adventure, good weather and a lot of things to do (fishing, camping, biking, sighseeing,etc).

The Wakiz Hotel is the only hotel in Gualaquiza, Ecuador. "Guala" is a pleasant, attractive, clean, safe town of approximately 15,000 people, located a 2-hour drive south of Loja (or 6-7 hours south of Cuenca) via a very interestingly paved (?) mountain road.
