From the second we arrived we felt at ease and relaxed. The house itself is stunning inside and out, and the warm welcome we received from John set the tone for our stay. Our room was spacious and spotless, with Lou's homemade shortbread a lovely bonus. They are true champions of local produce, from the tea and coffee to the...

The title sums it all up really. A truly memorable experience in a magnificent period house, with the most friendly, personal first name service, in stunning rooms topped off with great local produce expertly prepared ( and grown) by the enthusiastic expert chef and owner John. A truly family run enterprise, it's a home from home experience that is rare...

We really can't praise New Forge enough - it more than lives up to it's five star reputation. It's rare to find a Georgian House country hotel like this anywhere in the province. The food and service are exceptional and we're already planning our next visit.

Where do I start about this wonderful, comfortable and friendly establishment. Everyone should treat themselves to at least one night in Newforge House where our bed was comfortable in a spotless en suite bedroom. The dining and sitting rooms were comfortable and tastefully decorated. Our breakfasts (we stayed two nights) were cooked to perfection and the wedding meal was delicious....

Definitely lives up to the reputation. Tasty fresh wholesome food that was great quality and full of freshness. We were not guest but got a booking for dinner. We were told when booking it’s a limited set menu and they catered for any dietary requirements which was also reassuring. The menu is all locally sourced from Hannon meat, Abernathy butter...
