Fantastic food, great beer, very clean & tidy rooms & helpful/friendly staff. My wife & I stayed over on a business trip, could not have been made more welcome. Everything 100%. Just need an excuse to come back!

We called in on a Sunday morning in the run up to lunchtime. All we wanted was a bowl of soup before scaling nearby Hambledon Hill. The soup was excellent and the reception we received very friendly given the very busy conditions. We shall return to sample the full menu.

visited this pub on Monday and found that the food and service was very good, in fact they do everything possible to accommodate you requests. We went back two days later and found the food was as good as was the service. We had our dog with us and sat in the bar area to eat which was lovely and...

My family and a couple of friends visited for lunch today after a long walk up and round Hambledon Hill and I must say it was excellent. They accommodated a baby by providing a good high chair and the dog was more than welcome. Staff were friendly and always on hand. Food was delicious and more than reasonable price, there...

Stayed here for 3 nights from New Year's Day and enjoyed everything about this lovely country pub. Helen the landlady made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived and looked after us the whole time with first class home cooked food for breakfast and evening meals and a fine selection of beers from the bar. She was also very...

We enjoyed our stay very much. The landlord and his wife are very friendly, food is excellent, room comfortable if rather small, the bathroom extremely luxurious, good value for money. Village is very pleasant and there is a lot to see in the area.

We had a very pleasant stay at the Saxon Inn. We arrived on a Sunday and were pleased to find the restaurant open. Not only open but very busy which is a good sign. We found the menu very varied plus a good board with "today's specials". We spent time in the bar after our meal and enjoyed chatting with...

Clean and well decorated accommodation with comfy bed and quality fittings. Huge bath and shower over. Very quiet - but the pub itself was fairly quiet midweek. Evening meal was excellent - the steak can be recommended. A Good Beer Guide pub with choice of well kept ales which is a definite plus. Unhurried cooked breakfast was much appreciated.

Been a few times and always found the staff very pleasant. Food and ale reasonably priced. Easy wheelchair access but you have to ask for a door to be opened. Parking is good and there is a pleasant garden.

We met up with friends at The Saxon Inn recently, and after moving away from the area, I am thrilled to find the pub is still busy, friendly and offering a great service. The Landlord and Landlady both made a special effort to say hello, and the superb bar lady brought our drinks to our table throughout the entire night....
