Finally a Michelin restaurant where the service is warm and the servings ample unlike other Michelins. Seems more for locals that are dining in a very unpretentious atmosphere. The hotel from the outside does not represent what is inside.

Monnickendam is a wonderful little port village whose quiet streets are lined with old houses. Perfect location for this boutique hotel, whose old charm is immediately apparent. We stayed for three nights over a long weekend, and enjoyed the experience overall. Dinner in the restaurant was exremely good, with some interesting wine pairings. The room's decor was good, and had...

Thank you so much for your nice review. Also thanks for the few pointers. Beverages (and foods) ordered through roomservice is, of course, charged accordingly. However, we do not charge any extra cost for roomservice. Prices in our Restaurant, Lounge and Roomservice are the same. The breakfast on bed was but pre-booked in the online system through which the full...

We went to tons of Michelin stars places but this is the only one where we have been regularly coming back to since 5 years. The food is simply amazing, I'm picky and pretty demanding vegetarian and I never ate more delicious organic veggies than the one they serve there. Make sure you try the bros! And if you are...

The hotel is very quaint (the rooms don't have numbers, but names) and it is wonderful to spend the night here. The rooms are lavishly decorated with historic pictures and items, you feel like you may be in a palace - or barn, but both are good. The staff is very hospitable. Best of all - there is a Michelin...

Monnickendam is a beautiful small village on the outskirts of Amsterdam. The hotel is in a great old building and the rooms are well decorated, have fabulous large baths and comfortable beds. We went for the 7 course 'sensations' tasting menu with wine pairing. It was a delight. Each course was beautiful and the chef was happy to substitute fish...

Historical building in a small town close to Amsterdam. The late middle ages becoming appearant in the rooms, providing you the sense of having going back in time. With the desired luxury present. Great staying over.

Firstly Monnikendam is worth a visit for its own sake. It is a picture postcard small town (or large village) with cobbled streets, old houses, canals and locks. It has a Disney feel to someone from the UK, as everything is clean and well cared for (I mean everything, every house, street sign, cafe, bollard etc). There are cafes, shops...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Just outside the big city of Amsterdam (12km) and in the heart of North Holland you can find Suitehotel Posthoorn. Located in the small town of Monnickendam where time seems to stand still; One of the last hidden gems of the Netherlands. Behind the bumpy streets and medieval gables loom hundreds masts of yachts. And those who look carefully around discovers the true past of the houses. Here you will find the Posthoorn, the perfect place for a romantic stay and can match the funky city hotels but in the perfect location. Quiet, a lot to see and enjoy lovely summer days on the water but the city is in reach. The royal family has been guests in the past and rightly so because since the time of Napoleon, Posthoorn is the place where one can enjoy delicious culinary excesses and beautiful rooms. It was Napoleon Bonaparte himself was the guest in the house from 1697. Luxury, quality and hospitality are here predominate. Upon entering this listed monument you instantly taste the richness and grandeur of the Golden Age. The small hotel is located just 12 km from Amsterdam, in the heart of tourist hotspots like Marken, Edam and Volendam, owns six luxurious suites and rooms where security and warmth are key. For the daring style of "old meets new" proprietor Marc Boeljon inspiration from the finest boutique hotels in Europe.
