The hotel is beautiful and has a fantastic garden. But I found the room very disappointed compared to the rest of the property. The room was dated and was very cold... the heating didn’t make a difference in our short stay. We asked for a double bed and we got to mattresses put together instead of a big one and it wasn’t very comfortable. The bathroom was nice and the shower pressure ideal.
As other reviewers have shared, this hotel is shabby, dirty - a complete disappointment. Bed linen is disgusting. Bath linen is so old and cheap that the nasty towels hurt your skin when drying off after a shower. Housekeeping had not filled any of the very cheap soap dispensers and no one could be found at 08:15 am on a tuesday to ask for something as basic as soap. Carpets had not been vacuumed. There is no a/c and no fans are offered to relieve the 35 C heat. Window curtains are cheap and heavy preventing any breeze from entering the stale and musty rooms. But the worst aspect of this hotel is the woman on reception (specifically at 16:00 on 19 june and 07:20 on 21 june). I totally agree with other reviews - she is sour, surly, extremely unpleasant, and makes no pretence of offering any customer service. Rather than ask me, she accused me of having breakfast (chargeable) each day when I had not and would not eat in such a filthy hotel. She also accused me of taking something from the mini-bar when i had not. Previous guests have commented on how awful this person is but it seems the hotel prefers to do nothing about it such as move her out of a customer-facing role. If she is an owner or an investor in this hotel the arrogance of allowing her to handle reception is appalling. There are much nicer (in every way) places to stay. Don't waste your time here!…
Mansion Hotel Bos & Ven is well located in the nice village Oisterwijk. We spent 3 days in a standard bedroom since we were refurbishing our nearby house. The room was a bit of deception since you expect a more Mansion like room with bright English colours, but it was gloomy. The wardrobe was very tiny.Housekeeping is a point of serious concern:In the bathroom not all lights were burning and were never repaired,TV set was loose on the wall, the hinge of the door was loose and the door showed earlier damage. There was a hole in the curtains.Vaccuum cleaning was done only every other day. The last day beds weren't even touched. Towels are very tiny. We booked without breakfast, but decided the first day to have breakfast. Since no one asked our room number I went to reception to inform tem we had breakfast. To my surprise it was already booked; reason to check the bill when leaving, which was a good idea since drinks of the minibar, which we didn't touch were on the bill. So check your bill!!! We informed the management about our experiences and got a standard thank you letter.Staff is very friendly, especially the night auditor; every evening returning to the hotel at 10 p.m. he was very kind and willing to serve drinks on the beautiful, but completely empty, terrace although the weather was great. The hotel is visited by mainly visited by very old people wich shows at breakfast and after 10 p.m. on the terrace.…
I have stayed twice in this hotel , the first time some ten years ago and then more recently . The only change seems to have been the chef -perhaps the new one is not so good as the previous visit. However I have no serious criticisms. Indeed the hotel is well run and is a pleasant place to stay
A very good hotel for a short stay. I stayed here with family for 2 days. Close to nature. Amazing location, courteous staff. Nicely done rooms with all the facilities. In house sauna and spa available. Breakfast can be even ordered in the rooms with nominal service fee. Would love to come again
We stayed in this hotel just for one night in a standard room and were very pleasantly surprised by the comfort. Breakfast was not fantastic, but quite acceptable. It is situated close to a wonderful walking area.
This hotel has been running for 70 years and continues to provide the type of accommodation and service that we had before the advent of the plastic and concrete hotels of today. That's not to say it's antiquated - it certainly is not. The service from all staff was exemplary and the accommodation excellent. The breakfast that included smoked salmon was first class and if you wanted an excellent meal in the evening you did not have to go out, although the menu may not agree to all tastes.
I joined my husband for a bussiness trip and we stay in this elegant Mansion, very comfortable, warm environment, polite and well trained reception staff, ready to help with indication for visiting arround. We enjoyed very nice dinners with well presented and tasteful dishes, and afterwards few drinks at the bar .Lovely,lovely,staff...I had the chance to see the beautiful garden and the surrounding park and not at last the little town .For sure a place to comeback...why not,for a romantic weekend.
A very pleasant and quiet location. We were a group of 10 friends. My room on the second floor did not have wifi reception. I complained and was immediately offered the suite on the first floor above the hotel reception - where there is good wifi. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. We had the 3-course dinner at the hotel - it was excellent. Breakfast was good. The hotel had arranged good quality electric bikes for us. When we arrived, the bikes were ready and fully charged. There are some great bicycle routes in the neighbourhood, and Oisterwijk is a lovely village with good boutiques and an amazing shoe shop!
lets sart by saying bi was really looking forward to the high tea offered by the hotels web site , based on their 40 years of refining this english custom . we were offered anall tou can eat buffet for 33e to include various choices of tea, sandwiches , hot food , desserts ,muffins and scones .Too good to be true i thought and i was right !! we were told to be there at 2 pm to start the feast and arrived at 1.50 . no sign of tables being ready so sat outside in the sunshine , at 2.10 were eventually afforded a drink , still no sign of the High Tea being ready and no one offered any information . Eventually at 2.30 pm were told to go to the restaurant as it was ready , hurrah . Now to the offering , tables were laid out ok , but why they felt it needed to include a plate of Pickwick tea bags on the table i really have no idea . we eventually discovered a table full of various twinning teabags although mainly the fruity type and jars of various tea leaves which you had to scoop out using a tea strainer then [lace this into your cup awaiting the waitress to pour hot water into it ! why they couldnt provide small individual tea pots to us is beyond me , the strainers were to big for the cups. Now onto the food , there were basically two sections one with the hot snacks and the sandwiches , one section for desserts . the hot food consisted of scrambled eggs next to that what we thought was hot hollandaise sauce that turned out to be vanilla custard !!!! we found this out once we had put this on the eggs , we never found out what the custard was for . then there was a hot tray with empty volavont cases and a hot filling , chicken i think although how you were supposed to get this into the cases i dont know . there was a cold potato salad and something else i don know what . The sandwiches were triangular 3 layer held together with cocktail sticks which fell apart as soon as you tried to eat them and a sort of wrap . what was in them , i think smoked ham, smoked salmon and the other i dont know .NO beef, chicken and no simple 2 layer sandwiches you could eat without falling apart . The desserts looked and tasted very nice BUT where were the scones clotted cream and jam ? the very basis of any high tea , there was NONE , yes the was plenty of meringues , torte cake and jelly and some small muffins but no scones . All in all I was very disappointed , if this is the result of 40 years refining a great tradition god knows what they will do in the next 40 !This is nothing more than an afternoon buffet and an expensive one , Not thought out , trying to be to clever and failing . I do understand that Dutch tastes differ to the Brits but this is not High Tea .…
