This was the highlight of our Netherlands trip -- mostly because we were welcomed so warmly and taken care of so well. I have celiac disease, and the hotel was more than happy to not only accommodate but to go out of their way to make sure I had an excellent breakfast (which was more than worth the cost --...

We only stayed the one night. Our room was a nice size and the bathroom was clean. The beds were comfortable. This is a family run hotel and the service was excellent. Very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was excellent. Very quiet location as it is in the countryside. Thank you for a lovely stay.

The hotel Groot Welsden is a quaint boutique hotel filled with antiques and bric-a-brac. It is located in the (very) small community of Groot Welsen. Close to the town of Margraten and the Netherlands American Cemetery (about 3 km away). Great as an outpost for hiking or biking in the hills of South-Limburg. The owners and the staff are very...

This hotel is a treasure hidden in the countryside. The secret garden is comfortable and relaxing. The lobby is English style with comfortable seating and intriguing decor. The absolute best part, however, is the attentiveness and friendliness of the owners and staff. You will never find anyone more friendly or attentive to your interests or needs. They are amazing! Should...

Like last year summer, we greatly enjoyed our stay here. The friendliness and hospitality of all staffmembers are outstanding. The food is excellent. A cosy little hotel just outside Maastricht. Unfortunately the weather did not allow us this time to profit from the quiet garden. Limburg at its very best.

We truly enjoyed the great hospitality during our stay. The location is very well suited to hike, bike and visit one of the neighbouring cities (Maastricht or Valkenburg). This is a highly recommendable hotel where you feel at home.

This was an amazing hotel set in the country, with a beautiful secret garden. The hosts were so friendly and couldn't do enough for us. The hotel itself was a cosy haven with wonderful decor, plenty of places for sitting and relaxing after dinner. The food was of a very very high standard. I had the best veal ever! Mine hosts went...

A delightful small country hotel located outside of town on a local road either from town or from the highway on the road to Maastricht. As you approach the hotel, you notice an unusual sight appears in front of the hotel, United States, European Union and Netherlands flags fly from their poles. A friendly staff greet you and get you...

The hotel exceeded the reviews. I felt as if I was in one of those old-world European hotels run by small super-efficient staff And while it was old-world in terms of great service and feel it was modern with it's wi-fi, excellent meals and the larger than norm European hotel rooms. The entire staff picked up on your style of...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
“ 'Our stay was too short', sigh most guests of Hotel Groot Welsden. Understandable after having seen the fine three star hotel in the middle of the beautiful undulating landscape of Limburg. Its situation nearby Maastricht, Thermae 2000, Belgium and Germany make this place very suitable for tours, but the hotel itself has also much to offer. The beautiful garden for example, during the evening fairy-like illuminated, where one can enjoy the view and repose on comfortable reclining-chairs set around a fountain. The interior of Hotel Groot Welsden is very beautiful, in English style. The lounge rather looks like a cosy living-room than an impersonal hotel room. This personal style is visible everywhere. There are no standard rooms but every room has its own furnishing and style, some even have a whirlpool bath and small terrace! The guest book that is signed many times by very satisfied guests, speaks volumes: in this are mainly praised the very friendly service and the excellent restaurant. An ideal place therefore for the tourist that is looking for tranquillity, luxury, beauty and that personal touch! ” Your hotel room is tastefully furnished with a luxurious bathroom (a few with a whirlpool bath). ... more   less
