Agriturismo in our minds means authenticity both of the place and the food. It also means country side i.e. calm. Instead, this place is along a main road and furthermore operates a restaurant which caters for late evening parties with loud music. We could only sleep well the day the restaurant was off. So for the calm, forget it. Then you expect the breakfast to balance the bad impression. And it ends up being a real shame, especially in such an exquisite food country like Italy. Bread was harder than a rock, fruit as well. The rest was kind of “direct from supermarket” stuff. We ended up buying our own fruit. Let alone the poor service... This place lacks a soul (and a professional in the hospitality industry to run it). To not end up on a too low note, the jacuzzi and the upwards view on Montecarlo were appreciated. PS: luckily the next two Agriturismo locations we visited where, contrarily to this one, real jewels. …
In the charming Montecarlo, you can definitely do better and cheaper than Fattoria La Torre. You are handed a key at check-in and then ignored completely thereafter. The staff actually seem to disappear all day until dinner, even at the reception. Staff is outright unfriendly, bordering on rude. And the food was definitely the worst I had throughout an otherwise great week in a lovely location.
During an excursion outside of Florence, went to this winery. Sampled two different wines along with antipastos. Enjoyed the wines so much, we purchased a half case which we will be shipped directly to us.
Let me start with the positive; it's located just by montecarlo paese- nice little town with lots of restaurants (don't forget to pre-book - it's packed). The staff are very friendly and positive and you feel welcome! Pool area very luxurious and has a great view. I think it's might stretching it calling it a 4* agriturismo. It's a bit worn and messy in a not very charming way. The sitting areas outside was not cosy and full ashtrays on the tables. The restaurant is great and cosy and again great service and good food. The breakfast area on the opposite was awful! It looked like a shed with old furniture and they haven't arranged the service for you and everything on the menu was plastic wrapped and the only freash thing was cold hard boiled eggs. And please note the breakfast was 10€. The room ( I got) was small and next to the main road with tiny windows and and couldn't stand straight in the shower. They tried something modern but doesn't fit the Italian charm and doesn't have the final touch! My honest opinion is - too expensive compared to other great agriturismi- but the proximity to Montecarlo might justify??…
Beautiful setting for an afternoon at a vineyard. The tour was interesting and the owners explained what they did and presented all the different types of wine that I believe was 6 different varieties. We then tried only 3 that was a little disappointing as well as the new wine was poured into the same glass from the previous wine so there was possible mix of wines. The food spread was good. I was disappointed with not hearing more about olives and olive oil as well as we could not by the olive oil but I was not sure of the season. I had to ask about olives and I would have thought they would be excited to sell and explain about the olives as well. Lovely time in the countryside though!
