Magnificent views across wooded hills, trails through the woods to an old castle, or to a ruined abbey. Dirt roads that take you to grand views to Sienna in the distance. Tasty meals served family style at long tables, with food from the organic gardens. Recommend spending some time here so you can really settle in and enjoy the setting...

Looking for the ultimate Tuscan experience? This is the place to visit. I spent one week taking advantage of their A Tavola program for foodies. We not only had cooking classes on sight but were treated to daily field trips to nearby farms, vineyards, daily markets, walking tours & dinner in a nearby village. The staff is incredible friendly, the...

With a dozen others and two art teachers we all enjoyed a week at this hidden away treasure of an Italian country estate. It has a tower from the 13th century and rustic old buildings, olive orchards, a pig-farm, and vineyards. It is run by a small staff plus some 10 interns who in addition to farming are learning agricultural...

We visited to take a cooking class with our three young children & are so glad we did. It was one of the highlights of our four weeks in Europe! Our two older children cannot stop talking about it, my husband enjoyed chatting with other attendees & I cannot wait to try out the recipes we brought home for friends...

We brought our two small children (5 years old and 20 months old) for a week and easily could have stayed much longer. It's amazingly beautiful and peaceful. We took walks around the property to see the pigs, we did a scavenger hunt in the secret garden, we played soccer on the lawn overlooking the estate, and we had hot...

The review of the Brussels’ family is spot-on in my opinion. ‘Copy-paste’ would be the simplest action but that wouldn’t do justice to the special place Spannocchia is. It deserves a personal effort. The place really grows on you and that’s partly because of the passion, the commitment and the enthusiasm of all the people involved; the interns, other volunteers...

With my family we arrived without really knowing what we were going to get. To give you an idea, I was disappointed when I arrived but it was hard for me to leave. To make simple it shouldn't be called a hotel. If you like all the modern comforts of hotels and what it means today, this place is not...

This was an excellent experience. I am very interested in organic gardening and sustainable living which is what this place is about. It is not a 5 star resort so do not come here thinking it is. It is a chance to live as the locals in the area live and live close to the earth and eat marvelously fresh...

This was my second stay at Spannocchia, the first in 2006 as a student, and this trip with my husband and his parents. Everyone had a wonderful time and are hoping to be back next year. There are wonderful hiking trails throughout the property and the tours offered by the foundation were very informative. We stayed in Casa del Fantino...

This was our second week-long rental at Spannocchia. There are many farmhouses available for rent, and each is distinct and different so you will need to read and ask to see what will suit you best. The property is 1000 acres of nature preserve and working, organic farm. We absolutely love it and hope to return. This time we brought...

“Doesn't make a difference, they were all authentic, rustic and fantastic!”
 of 5 bubbles NeemaT_13, 4 Apr 2014 | Read review
“We stayed in the Fattoria, which is more like a hotel with shared bathrooms - though the place was full we pretty much had the bathroom to ourselves, because our 2 rooms were at the end of a hall with the bath right across. It was an economical choice that sacrificed very little privacy or convenience. If we had had 6-8 people in our party, we might have chosen one of the farmhouses across from the Fattoria instead, so it would feel more communal. That said, our 8 and 10-year-old children shared their own room, and I never felt nervous about them being alone in the Fattoria.”
