The Valley house is a welcoming family hostel in Achill. The bar is warm, cosy and steeped in tradition. The new Faerie trail through the forest will enthrall children young and old alike. A fine restaurant is available for visitors.

Stayed there for a weekend in August 2016. Room was very clean, small bunk beds but very comfortable. 4 bed dormer has a private shower and toilet which was great. dont know about the other dorms i think they need to go all the way down stairs to the pub to use a toilet. plenty of showers in the public...

There aren't a lot of cheap lodging options on Achill Island but if you're not too picky this hostel does the job. It is situated away from the main road so it is easy to miss the sign but you'll get there eventually! The hostel is a big house in need of work, it is quite damp but the staff...

Having trekked the woodland nearby in search of a tooth fairy our party of four arrived wet, weary and hungry into the delights of this homely bar complete with turf fire and friendly staff. We all ordered soup apart from the fairy seeker who to drown her sorrows required a sweeter option and what better choice then a sticky banana...

Pros: fantastic bar and great owner! Bar bathroom was clean. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Rustic atmosphere with beautiful island scenery. Free parking and cheap price. Cons: warm shower water only during designated times. Shower did not drain and filled up fast. Only two electrical outlets in a 12 bedroom room. No WiFi in bedroom. Note: horror movie was...

I stayed in Valley house with my 13 year old son and 10 year old daughter. The place itself looks amazing and homely. The staff were friendly and helpful and the kids loved the room with it's bunk beds. The setting and the area around the house is beautiful. Our stay was only overnight and I was told off by...

As per the title the hostel is in the middle of nowhere, but that adds to the charm. Hitchhiking on the island is common so stick out your thumb and head on out. Pat and his team of volunteers are all friendly and eager to make your stay enjoyable just be sure to do your grocery shopping while you are...

A wonderful little hostel tucked away on Achill island. I stayed in the 12 bed dorm with 4 other friends over the Easter weekend. A traditional Irish getaway that proudly displays its history for all to read and share. The attached pub has a pool table, dart board and an incredible atmosphere. Music was played late into the night and...

Having accidentally booked the wrong dates we arrived late at night and found that The Valley House was closed due to painting works. Despite this the owner Pat took us in, fed us and gave us a lovely room to stay. We then had a very pleasant night chatting in the bar. We can't wait to come back in the...

Stayed at the campsite here in the Summer, was the worst night I have ever spent anywhere. Not only is it impossible to find, there was an extremely bad smell in the garden area and there was an infestation of some kind of flies and we all were eaten alive while pitching the tents. I guess the smell had caused...
