Truly one of the best Ryokans we've stayed in. The ryokan is set on a hill,in a beautiful garden and hidden from the surrounding buildings by the lush greenery. It is very nicely and thoughtfully designed and there are only 17 rooms here. Each room has its own private open bath where you can soak in privacy watching the trees...

Beniya Mukayu is a stunning small luxury hotel tucked into the hills of Yamashiro Onsen. It has everything you would expect from a Relais Chateaux branded hotel - outstanding design, food and service and staff that speak a multitude of languages. The hotel also houses some interesting art pieces. We had a Japanese style room with comfortable tatami mats and...

My wife and I stayed at this ryokan in a western style room for two nights. We had a private hot spring bath that was amazing in a super sleek Zen room. From the moment we checked in we were able to relax with quality service. We enjoyed a tea ceremony on the first night which was cool. We took...

Stayed for 3 nights in a room with our private onsen. Staff was attentive - they called and paid for our cab fares when the shuttle service wasn't available at the timings we asked for. Staff also knew us by our names and remembered our itineary and preferences offhand - that was pretty remarkable. Dinner service was excellent with exquisite...

Beniya Mukayu has that indefinable quality which makes a great hotel. It's a minimalist peaceful design-lover's haven away from the bustle of a city, in the village of Yamashiro. Not only is it a Zen space to relax and appreciate the Japanese aesthetic, with a wonderful staff who take care to make sure that your every whim is granted, but...

I shall try to keep it short. This is a much needed place after the bruising shopping and eating of Tokyo. Not to mention the previous head spins and burnouts from work. Truly soothing and calming, and the Japanese room with it's private onsen bath was heaven sent. Dinner and breakfast was wonderful and exactly what the doctor ordered. :)...

We stayed for two nights. That is enough. The staff are friendly, the location is very nice. People surrounding the area are lovely and we went in cherry blossom season...even more beautiful. Very relaxing.

The property, the details, the welcome... everything was exceptional. Truly a wonderful experience... the family that owns the property is also exceedingly lovely and i wish we had stayed longer! Our room was absolutely beautiful, and the details of our stay, including lovely snacks before bed, aromatherapy, our private onsen...all contributed to one of the most relaxed and rejuvenating trips...

A peaceful place in kaga onsen offering beautiful japanese style rooms with a private onsen semi outdoors. The tea ceremony and morning yoga class with the owners adds a special, unique experience. Breakfast and dinner were delicious, using many local ingredients, staff were well informed about all the dishes.
