Detailed Reviews
I booked 3 rooms for 9 ppl at this place on phone. They took reservation just on trust with no advance money. Rooms are clean and are for 2 people but they provide extra bed for 3rd person if you ask for. It costed Rs.500 per room + Rs.100 for each extra bed. Rooms are clean, got spacious bathrooms with showers and western toilet. Its very close to bus stand, ATM and the famous PAI restraunt. Towels were provided in each room. Owners are really friendly and they stay in the ground floor below the rooms.

If you go to Gokarna, this is the place you want to stay at if you want to live in the village rather than at the beach. Trust us – we've seen almost every guest house in this town and stayed in 4 places before finally settling in Hari Priya. We would have left Gokarna the next day because we were unable to find a place we liked had it not been for the hospitality of Anand and his family. In fact, we enjoyed our stay there so much that we ended up staying for almost one month. There are several reasons for this: First of all, the rooms. They are immaculate! Clean, sunny, soft mattresses (if you've been traveling India for a while you'll really appreciate this), some even have their own balcony, but even if yours doesn't (like ours), there is a huge front porch to sit, read, chat with other guests over a cup of chai, etc. The house itself is very new, not even a year old, so everything works well (as a side note, this is also the reason why it's not in your guide book yet…). The location is pretty ideal – next to the central bus station, a couple of steps from the main road but tucked into a small side road so that you're away from the hustle and bustle of the main road but still in the heart of the village. Secondly, these are just the sweetest, nicest and most helpful people we've met in India so far – Anand and Anu have treated us like a part of their family right from the first day, so we really did feel like we had a home away from home. When my husband was sitting in the living room, eating his thali and watching cricket with the rest of the family, I knew that we would be staying a little longer than planned. Thirdly, the food! Anu is just the greatest cook, at least in Gokarna, and if you're interested in getting to know genuine South Indian cooking, you'll find yourself in gourmet heaven – they offer breakfast, lunch and dinner and all is delicious and healthy and it never gets boring! We are still dreaming of the lovely spinach Idli and the heavenly garlic chutney we couldn't get enough of – yum! They also offer laundry service, internet, taxi/rickshaw service and, fourthly, the best part: everything is very reasonably priced so you'll enjoy your stay even more. This has truly been our nicest stay in India by far and we wish there was a Hari Priya Residency in every town we are going to… Needless to say we will stay there again whenever we come back to Gokarna – in fact, we are even thinking about coming back to Gokarna just to stay at their place… Even if you're not looking for close contact with an Indian family and the Indian way of living – the owners are very welcoming but never pushy. So if you're simply looking for a nice place to stay for a couple of days: this is a great location. And if you're looking for a home away from home and new friends, this is the ideal place for you.

We stayed here for 10 days in January before going northwards and 11 days in March, ending our 3 months in India. Anand & Anu are lovely, nothing is too much bother They organised a trip for us, by car, to Murudeshwar, asking the driver to take us to sights we'd never have found on our own & our very reliably tuk tuk driver. The rooms are spotless, every 4 days we had new bedding & towels and it's in a very shady lane keeping it as cool as possible. A delight.

We stayed here after reading the reviews on trip advisor and all the nice things said about the place, the owner 'Anand' and his family were true. The room was nice and clean, and there is a terrace to sit and meet others whilst enjoying a chai. Anand and his family go out of their way for you to have a pleasant stay. The place is centrally located in Gokarna town, located on a small side street, and is very quiet. Overall we would definately recommend this place and would love to visit again. Many thanks to Anand and his family Hope to see you soon my dears.

To be frank thats the marvellous place. Their tag line is "HOME AWAY FROM HOME" .. and you feel the same once you are there at hari priya Residency.
The people there are very very very sweet and also friendly. Especially "ANAND" Sir (Owner) .
I would 100% suggest you to halt at haripriya residency when ever you are there at Gokarna. The hospitality is Superb.

The motel is located in the middle of Gokarna, near the heart of the town. The owners are a great couple who attend to you at the drop of a hat. They also give you great recommendations of places to visit around the area. The facility is brand new (less than a year old) and very comfortable to stay at. The meals are provided in house and are absolutely mouth watering... I would stay here every time I visit. The rooms are very clean and a steal for the price.

This was the first place we stayed at in India and very happy it was. Anand was extremely friendly and very willing to answer any questions. The rooms are clean but a little poky, although this really wasn't a problem given the price (Rs. 500 for a double room). We wanted to be in the centre of Gokarna, so this place was ideal, but I wouldn't recommend it if you want to be close to the beach. Otherwise it's a must!!
Take your own sheets as these weren't automatically provided, though I am sure they would oblige if you asked!

This property is in middle of the town and easily accessible. Main Temple and Gokarna Beach are nearby. The rooms were neatly maintained, toilets were clean. The owners Mr. Anand and his wife were very caring and helpful. I visited Gokarna with my family. On request they arranged an auto for my elderly parents for temple and local sightseeing . Tea, Coffee, Milk are served on request anytime, there are decent eateries nearby. We felt very comfortable here, (home any from home) . The owners are very knowledgeable, they have given me a very good detailed plan for my onward journey with distances and places of significance, this would not have been possible with out their help, I would have easily missed out on many places, had I relied only on online resources. This is the best place to stay in Gokarna. I would strongly recommend this place for their excellent hospitality and service. I wish there are such home stays at other tourist places.

Great budget homestay. The owners are a indian couple who live on the ground floor. very hospitable and excellent with local info. Rooms are basic but very clean. Excellent option for us as we had couple hrs to kill before we moved to our other prebooked hotel. Wouldn't regret staying here longer if I visit again.
