#3 of 33 in Gokarna
Nestled to the south of Gokarna, along the picturesque coastline where the cliffs of the Western Ghats plunge into the Arabian Ocean, lies an unexplored expanse of beach and jungle. Here, where the ocean gently folds into an estuary lies a glimmer of paradise.

Scenic location, the property is very tastefully done. Kahani is a boutique property with only 6 suites. Abhishek the reservation manager was nice enough to upgrade us to the Peacock Suite which is bigger but shares a common balcony with the elephant suite. The approach to the property is off roading territory. Its a narrow, muddy road with enough space for 1 car. Can be a nightmare during the rains so be prepared. The food at the restaurant is fresh and homely. However we found the breakfast adequate. Portions are limited and the staff didnt seem enthusiastic in us ordering seconds or more food. There a beach close to the property but apparently one needs proper hiking shoes. This is something which the hotel conveniently forgot to inform us so we didnt pack accordingly and hence couldnt visit the beach. Om and Kudle beaches are the closest which is a 25 mins drive. The staff at the hotel did not have much about local information. We learnt more about the place from the guests instead. Overall, the property is beautiful but the service was lacking on what is expected from a luxury hotel.

Room Tip: The peacock suite is bigger but shares a balcony with another suite and therefore lacks privacy.

Apt name to the place - Paradise. The property is managed and maintained very well. The suites are excellent. The swimming pool is good with wonderful view. The tennis court is maintained well. Hospitality is amazing , food was custom made to our taste and delicious , which was a silver lining to this Paradise.

Kahaani Paradise is difficult to explain. It's huge but strangely cosy, its lavish but extremely discreet. Its one of those places which can surely mesmerise you with its epic grandeur and at once recognisable earthy tone. Kahaani would be beautiful anywhere in the world, yet its a fairly land in Gokarna situated where the Western Ghats meet the Arabian Sea. Nestled amidst 24 acres of forest and plantations the property was bought by a discreet British family who built 6 suites for each of its 6 members. Completed and opened as a hotel as recent as 2017 each of the six suites are epic in their own way. The open lobby is the centre of attraction with the numerous antique furnishings and sculptures. It grips you with its view and a hanging infinity pool overlooking nothing but the hills and the Arabian Sea at a distance. The King Suite with its epic red velvet theme, priceless artefacts and unending view is above the lobby. The Green and Blue suites reflect greenery and the sea. The green and blue marble washrooms are masterpieces in themselves. The Elephant and Peacock Suite are generously gifted with antiques, Moroccan Style lamps, Hindu temple carvings and huge terraces overlooking the sea and the hills. The Palace Suite much discreet from the others sits below the dining area. Its ornate mirrors, doors and arches making it the pride of the property. At once Kahaani Paradise is a example of culture shock. With Burmese teak floorings, epic Rajasthani jharokhas and doors, Hindu styled temple carvings in your washrooms, Pagoda styled roofs and Moroccan styled lanterns one might suddenly find a traditional Kerala styled window. The vision of such a marvellous piece of art, curated by the family has been given shape by Delhi based designer, Saloni Sharma who has sourced the textiles and furnishings in the villa. Since Kahaani is a home and not a hotel, one surely does feel at home. The open air dining area with two majestic sculpted horses serves delicious Indian and international cuisine by the in house Chef. The staff are ever ready to look after all your needs. There is an open spa overlooking the hills and the sea. They can arrange sightseeing around Gokarna, estate walks and even take you out on a boat ride to all the beaches of Gokarna. In the evening walk to the highest point in the property housing a Sunset Pool and catch a magnificent sunset on the horizon as you stand above Paradise beach, which is just a 5 minute walk downhill. I woke up to a misty and fragrant dawn with numerous birdsongs and played a morning raga in the “Bose” bluetooth speakers which comes with each of the rooms. They change the room aroma twice a day and you can choose from an amazing set of scented oils. They even give high speed Jio dongles in your room. Amidst all the luxury try not to overlook the magnificent nature all around. With hawks flying in front of your terrace or kingfishers peeking into your room there’s nature all around. With its impeccable location and outstanding decor, Kahaani Paradise might be one of the most beautiful, lavish and cosy homes ever built in India. Having stayed there two times, i long to return soon. P.S.:- This visit was in April 2021 and the property is following all forms of Covid-19 precautions and safety measures

Kahani certainly lives up to its name as "Paradise" - it's Heaven on Earth. Don't hesitate to go. It has all the magic ingredients of an unforgettable stay - beautiful environment, stunning views, delicious food and last, but certainly not least, excellent service by very friendly and welcoming staff. I have stayed at many top end hotels around the world, but this place is truly special. I was fortunate enough to stay there for my 50th birthday and have many fond memories of the place and the staff 'going the extra mile' to make it a truly memorable experience.

This place is amazingly located in Gokarna !! We had some great ,fantabulous time and memories. It’s really a paradise place to be. The food is amazing and limited menu but really great and delicious food 🍱. Vicky was really helpful in all ways and made our stay very comfortable and happy!! We had stay for 3 nights and the queen room was really worth all the decor and service was really nice and very friendly staff and happy to help anytime and alway wearing smiles on the face The place is located near paradise beach 🏝 and the road to the resort is not so great but once you entry the resort it’s different world 🌍 . We would highly recommend this place for people who are looking for some peace and tranquility and great detox from busy life !! Overall rating 5 for sure and advance booking is must on this place as they have limited availability of rooms !!! Will surely visit again soon !!!!!
