Trippr Gokarna is a hostel for the free spirited travellers. Socialise with other fellow travellers visiting the city. Live right by the beach and experience a calm serene vacation in the holiest of cities. We are located 10 minutes from the Gokarna bus stand.
It's a beachfront mixed hostel with a cafe, amazing view of the sea and extremely friendly staff, located in Middle beach in close proximity to Sunset Cafe, OM DS Cafe and other well known cafe's, I would recommend this over Zostel if you are here to enjoy the food, sunset and occasional swim because of easy accessibility. Only downside being poor management of dorms and washrooms- they smell bad because of poor ventilation. Otherwise, Trippr is bang for the buck.

this was perfect for a quick getaway with friends. took a 7 bunk bed room. pricy is best for a beach front hotel. v close to bus stop, around some 1.5kms away. dont take the tent, didnt seem well maintained but the room was v clean. close to mantra cafe which is the best one in town. should definitely consider if going on a budget with friends!

Startups are to be given a try they say!!! That is what we did at the time of planning our stay to Gokarna. We had 2 options whether to go with Zostel or trippr. We thought to check Trippr since we had 2 experiences of wonderful Zostel experiences earlier. To start with the booking process was a bit complicated as 1. Booking was not started for Nov 2018. After periodic followups and requests finally we were allowed to book the 8-bed dorm for our group. 2. The payment for the booking was also complicated since a link is sent on ur email and then the payment needs to be done. They surely need to improve on this and make it less time consuming.
Actual Booking day 1. The location mentioned on the Google maps is non accessible by any vehicle. Only when you reach the location, you get to know the other route. There is an urgent need of some sign boards to guide the tourists.
2. The other route was accessible by a vehicle but was limited to a certain extent. Your vehicle needs to be parked there, pay hefty parking charges out of your pocket. We paid Rs.300/- per night for our car.
3. If requested the trippr person sends their cooks, helpers to carry the luggage to reach the Hostel which is abt 500mtrs. They initially demanded 200rs for about 7 bags but later on arrival started cribbing for Rs.500/-. The general luggage carrying cost is Rs.30/- which is what we agreed to pay, after several persuasion and requests the helpers agreed to accept Rs.200/-. They didn't express their willingness to carry the luggage on checkout. (We just ignored and thought to better think abt it later). Walking the path from the parking area to the hostel looked very pleasant in the evening with the sound of water hitting your ears at regular intervals. The sand was quite soft and was difficult to walk with the shoes on.
4. The location of the Hostel is what it makes more attractive. Just opposite to the Beach. We were done with the formalities and shown our dorm. The dorm was very much clean. Washrooms were cleaner too. The climate at this time was moderately humid.
5. We freshened up and got ready for dinner.. We were in the hangout zone ordering sea food, chicken and some starters.. Must say the Sea food was quite tasty.. Chicken tasted stale.. If you are a Vegetarian, plz carry something since you shall not get any options in this Hostel. Due to manpower issues, the kitchen Dept. were facing a lot of issues honouring every order. I had ordered one Chicken triple rice which was delivered an hour later with no salt, no sauces (tasted like plain rice with few seasoning).
6. Post dinner we had the best time of our entire trip. All of us on beach, lying on the sand, observing the moon above, clear sky with few clouds seen wide. We were quite for few minutes and listened to the waves of water hitting the shores of the beach. This made us to forget all our bitter experiences of Trippr till now.
7. We got one more shock which was never experienced earlier in any of the hostels that the air conditioner and the geyser will be available only from 10pm - 12am. In the morning again from 8-10am.. this was quite disturbing. Tired and exhausted we slept like dead on the bed without thinking about any air conditioner.
8. The waves hitting the shores awaked us in the morning.. it was such a sight in the morning when you see the beach right from your bed. The view was the most precious moment of my life. The Beach was not at all crowded, it felt you are at some foreign tourist place. The breakfast served was quite good, be it egg, nutella or the best one Maggi. It's a must to try the Maggi options available. To our surprise the Rates, the food quality and the qty was quite reasonable enough.
All together a good experience and ther are few things to improve, which surely will be done.

Please do not go by seeing the photos of the rooms. Although the beach is right outside the hostel, the private rooms are not clean. There is no access to hot water. Bathrooms are not clean and have mosquitoes and lizards. The towels and bedsheets are not washed properly. Rooms have a particular unpleasant smell. Not worth the money.

I took a private cottage if you can call it one. My god the experience was horrible. The rooms and cupboards filled with rats and cockroaches. The bed was broken and put into place with rocks. It was wobbling every time I got unto it or got down from it. The bathroom door latch was broken. I could go on and on. To make it worse when you complain to the manager. He gives a smirk and blames it on the workers. Don't get me started on the attached trippr restaurant. The food is horrible. There was a spider web on the glass in which I was served my black coffee. The two brothers/friends who manage it are the most incompetent and careless people ever. They just don't care about anything. It's like they do a favor on you by service over prices horrible meals and overprices rooms.
P.S : I stayed two days at Devasamudra before coming to tripper and it is a zillion times better. There is no comparison. There cottage was a tad more expensive than tripper but was a 1000 times better. If you are short of budget. Take the Trippr bunk beds but never the cottage. If you have a decent budget then opt for Devasamudra. One final tip : Just don't eat at Trippr restaurant. You will fall sick for sure.

First of all I want to say that I didn’t stay at this hostel so I have no idea how the accommodation works. I am writing this review only for the “Plankton night trekking” to Paradise beach that this hostel is famous for organizing in Gokarna. We were told that the trekking will start at 11PM and end at 2AM. We waited on the bus stand for more than 45 minutes before the guys picked us up at 11:45AM. The guides were acting nice but when we asked them what is the chance to see plankton tonight they said 100%. for our surprise, we reached the beach and we didn’t see a single plankton. We even heard them talking that the plankton is really visible only in September. They left us back on the bus stand around 3:20 and we were left with the feeling that we were scammed one more time in India. We explained the guy who was collecting the money that we will pay only for the transportation because we didn’t get anything more than a normal night walk to the beach, which was not what we were told we would get. I explained him that I know it is not his fault and that he can tell the manager to call me in the morning so I can explain him why I refused to pay the full price for this parody. In the morning, I was absolutely shocked how this “manager” tried to approach me. I was ready to have a normal conversation and ask him why does he expect people to pay him for this kind of scams. But before I even have the chance to say something, he began cursing me with a very wide variety of words, which I am just not going to mention here. I was impressed how big his cursing dictionary is. I started laughing and understood that there won’t be a normal dialogue here. Then he threatened me that he is “sending people for me and if they find me, there will be a lot of trouble”. Well, Mr. Manager, I am telling you here that this is an absolute disgrace. You are a shame for Gokarna tourism.

The location is the only good thing about htis place. The staff were kind of rude and uninterested about the cutomers. Food in particular was bad, epsecially becuase the wait was too long and prices were higher compared to many neighbouring shacks. If you choose a tent to stay, the shared bathrooms that are available are pretty pathetically maintained. The overall vibe of the place is right if you want to only party and not care about cleanliness. We were disappointed.

We stayed for 7 day's with the friends in Trippr for Workation. It was the amazing experience in Trippr and Food,Wifi and Hospitality was great during my stay. Support staff were really great and they would involve in all the games and conduct fire camp parties and night treks during the night..It was infront of the beach and that made us to enjoy more during Workation. Food was really nice in the Trippr cafe and Stay was also great..I would recommend Trippr Gokarna for Workation/ Vacation and It's a must try .
Note - Do not miss night trek conducted by Trippr for seeing Bioluminescence ( Showstopper). It was breathtaking experience

This was budget friendly, and best place to enjoy along the beach. We stayed in tents. The best part of the stay is the people you meet there. The staff of trippr are so friendly that we won’t even feel that we are new there. Overall, its the best place to stay in Gokarna when you are with friends.

Hospitality is pathetic. Staffs are not so friendly. Infact he was acting like a traveller partying and enjoying. Least bothered about the customers. And cockroaches were there in the toilet. I stayed in a AC female dormitory. But temperature is fixed and u can't change. So we turned off the AC as it was so cold with 18 C. And atlast sweating in the night. Oh man ! Y don't u give us the remote? U need to pay for everything extra. Even for towels and toiletry kit. Food in the restaurant is also very average oly. They could do well for the money tats being collected. But providing horrible service. And one more point, u get hot water oly for 3 hours. The reason provided is 'solar heater can operate oly tat much'. OMG! I thought I'm fated to hear such reasons.
