Shri Umamaheshwar Cottages...there are a few "Uma"s on Kudle beach but this one is a nice collection of cottages located behind a beach shack "Dragon Cafe" about halfway down the beach. It was nice to be able to book in advance so not having to lug around my bag to check every place in hopes to find a room...thanks to advance booking! (you can search online for booking sites for this place)

The room I had was clean enough and had a decent attached toilet and cold water shower. Right in front of room a nice place to sit. The grounds are well maintained and the staff takes care of the property well. Fair and nice people working here. There are a few rooms I would not recommend...there are three that are quite dark and have rats running in the ceiling...those rooms i would never stay but all the ones that are brightly painted (which are the ones you can book online) are recommended fresh rooms.
The bottom line is that this is a budget accommodation and is perfect in this category. Kudle beach is a casual place and Shri Umamaheshwar is one of the better budget options in my opinion. I can also recommend The Dragon Cafe which is the same owner and is reliably good food...I ate there several times.

Great bonuses:
Filtered water complimentary for guests so you can refill your containers. I used this for the 9 nights i stayed and never got sick.
There is wifi for guests but it doesn't always work.
I stayed solo as a foreigner female and felt very secure there.

This place is not that great. But its one of the best budget hotels you can find in/around kudle beach. Rooms are basic but kept clean. Some rooms have an air conditioner. But they'll be switched on only if you pay 300 a night extra. You don't really need it since the rooms are right on the beach and the evenings are always cool. Besides, when you are in Kudle beach you end up spending more time on the beach and not in the room. The beach is about 50 steps from your room and there is a restaurant(shack) right outside the cottages on the beach that offers great food at very good prices.

Pro's
- On the beach
- Clean. I've stayed in shacks on this beach that are not even in comparison to this. I can only think of Gokarna international that is better.
- Affordable.

Con's
- No hot water anytime even though they have solar panels.
- No lights in one of the bathroom. Other one did not have a latch.
- Cows and dogs outside your room (Yes!!)

Overall, its an above par place to stay in kudle beach. There's not many places better than this at this price range.

I have been visiting Gokarna almost every year and I can see the place is changing. The best thing about this place is the location. We had booked 2 rooms and we were told that if AC needs to be switched on, it will be charged extra. But when we reached there , we were told that the AC rooms are being renovated.
Overall, a good stay in Kudle beach.I always prefer staying in the beach than on the hotels on top of the hill near Kudle.
The rooms are clean and bathrooms are clean.
The staff doesn't care what you do! But I guess they are helpful if you need something.
They accept Google Pay. The place is right next to Oasis Cafe. If you reached Hotel Gokarna International, you overshot.

I had booked Shri Umamaheshwar Cottages, Gokarna through make my trip portal. The booking was for 1 day on 6th May 2017. We reached Gokarna at 9pm on 6th May but could not find the way to the hotel. When we called the hotel they asked us climb down the hill as the hotel is in the valley. They had no lights for approach & the hotel staff was terrible in replying when we requested to help us reach the service. As we had gone on car, they asked us park on hill top & come on our own with luggage. We had to run around to find another hotel. One of the worst experiences I had with a hotel. Please block this hotel.

This is the place to rest. We can get this cottages based on our budgets. We are three stayed for two day paid only 2k. We can easily walk 20min to om beach. There are plenty of shacks to our fun closely.

Decent GoKarna international beach is just a min walk from cottage. No parking since we have to stop our vehicles top on hill were road ends we have a big place to park Buses, cars, two wheeler and autos and walk down to the beach. Other amenities like food and hot drinks will be available at Sacks not in cottages. This cottage just like a centre what I felt we can reach GoKarna market in 5km. This is kind of an unidentified place for me before.

Keep your maps handy cause the cottages are hidden behind the shack and a little difficult to find. However if you walk past the Gokarna International Hotel you will come across a board which will led you to the cottages. However we were a little dissatisfied with the staff as we had informed that earlier that we would be checking in early and when we called them to seek help with directions they didn't respond to our calls. On reaching we were surprised to see that no one was available at the reception so we literally had to walk around the property to find the hotel staff.
The room costed us for 950 Rs/Night as we made the reservation through a booking site. It was a little pricey considering the fact that the room was very basic with no Wifi,TV facility with just a fan. But the rooms were clean and decent. Each room had a porch with 2 wooden chairs and a table. The rooms can get a little humid during rainy season so if you want AC rooms they are available at a cost of 600 Rs per night.
You can extend your check-out if you're buses or train is at night by paying 400 rs which is negotiable.
To sum it up:-
Pro's- Near to the beach, peaceful and quiet,
Con's- No tv,wifi,in-house food service

I am very upset with the service of this hotel. I vinesha had a booking for 2nd June check-in and 3rd June check out 02rooms, even after paying the part payment we didn't stay in hotel, we were traveling form Goa after work and had instructed Me.Hansika reservation that we will be arriving late evening. She gave me the contact number of the reception staff and whole day we were trying to contact him but his is phone was not reachable at evening we were able to connect to him tell him that we r on the way and will be reaching in some time and the line was cut by his side, we tried calling him again to get the exact location of the hotel but from that moment his phone went switch off, then we called Ms Hansika but her number was also not reachable . At last we didn't find the hotel as it is not easily exsesable. When we asked the local people they said that he have to park our car at isolated parking lot and walk around 20minunts towards the beach there were this hotel was. Hopeless property I choosed for my stay, the staff first of all don't have any courtesy to call back to guide, as the local people here don't know hindi and English properly it's very difficult to communicate, I tried to contact Ms Hansika to ask for the refund of my part payment but couldn't not connected.
Being a travel agent I will rate zero to this property.this people are in hospitality industry just to cheat people.
