A community initiated eco camp development and run keeping the eco-tourism principles in mind. Minimum artificial infrastructure have been put up in the camp. The camp accommodations blend in with the forest setting due to the careful use of building materials such as mud and thatch, we have also ensured that our color schemes are earthy and merge with our surroundings. There are 9 mud huts placed on two acres of land giving one adequate privacy, and yet giving a feeling of openness and space. Mud huts have AC, fan, charging points and attached toilet and bath facility. One of our foremost objectives is to have a low impact on our ecology thus we have adopted only low light cfl's at common places like the dining hut, buffet hut, toilets and kitchen.

Detailed Reviews
I call this camp as excellent resort. The name "Camp" is just Mr. Shekhar being humble.
Cottages:
The setting inside this camp is wonderful. There are around 9 mud cottage with all modern amenities with hot water. Mud cottages are very spacious. Almost all cottages have a sitting/sleep area beside the window apart from main bed. This extra space can accommodate two adults comfortably. So it is a perfect family rooms with 2 adult +2 kids with separate bed inside a cottage.
Service:
There is common area right in center of camp, it is used for sitting/dining/reading purpose. There is a small library , you can enjoy reading there. During Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner, this area is dining area. Camp is so designed that there is hardly 20-30m distance from each cottage and guest can access this area easily. There is no room service as such, camp encourage its guest to come to common area and help themselves with food/tea etc.Although there is electric kettle with tea/coffee bags provided in room, we preferred our good old type tea, which is kept at sharp 7am in common area for all guests. Evening snacks also served in evening.
Actually when you stay in camp, you feel part of their family. As there are limited number of mud houses, it never get crowed at any time.
The camp:
As you enter in camp, you will not be able to spot cottages, so many different types of trees are there that you will feel like living in jungle. No big budget resort can match the greenery. It is perfect relaxing place. There is a water stream going right along the camp and you can enjoy the river view from mud cottage.
There is a nature trail and camp helped us in our nature walk.
The family:
The camp is run by a humble management who are local resident of village itself and all staff is from local village of Kyari. So there is strong sense of responsibility and bond among everyone to serve you better. I needed some medicine for my back muscle pull, they did everything to get me the medicine.
I asked why they kept their price low when you are providing and maintaining the property so well that corporate can sell for triple the amount in name of wellness camp, there was just one answer "We are not here just for profit".
The camp is awesome with lots of trees, cottages are well designed with modern facilities and old style, staff is great, I don't know what else one can ask for.
We loved our stay there with family and kids. Thanks to each staff member for their excellent services. Looking forward to come back soon.

At first we were reluctant about our outstation travel during Covid 19 but thanks to Camp Hornbill for providing us such a wonderful stay absolutely tension free. The place is beautiful, right in the jungle with a stream flowing close by. My dogs were super happy here and my family enjoyed very much. The staff was very helpful and provided us personal attention to ensure there is minimum contact and hygiene maintained. Social distancing was kept all throughout. Rooms were neat and clean and spacious. Aesthetically beautiful too. The manager, Naveen is very much customer oriented and takes care of the smallest of needs of the customer.

+1
In these times of restrictions, doubt and insecurity I went back to my favourite places of all.. Camp Hornbill. Always a pleasure to be there amongst all the village folk and wonderful, ‘Saal’ forest. Neat, clean and this time around “Sanitised” as per the norms of powers that may be!
I interacted with fellow guests as well as village folk during my week long stay. Thankfully or let’s say because of the steps taken there were no COVID cases recorded in Kyari or nearby villages. the huts and tents have always been at-least 10-15 meters apart and contained in a pristine environment. If you are specifically scared or paranoid about CoVID 19 and yet wish to go for tranquil holiday, Camp Hornbill is the best bet.
Thank you Navin, Shekhar, Rajinder ji and all the associates at the Campsite. I shall be visiting again, soon.

We were three friends who made a last minute plan and landed up at this most delightful camp. Our mud hut was rustic, spacious and clean. We loved the view of the river from our sit out. The trees around our hut were full of birds and it was so rejuvenating to be surrounded by nature. The camp is well planned and even though the huts and tents are pretty close to each other you will not feel like your privacy is compromised. Thanks to plenty of trees and greenery in between huts and tents. The food was simple yet delicious. We were looked after very well by Lalit.
We would highly recommend taking a walk with Naveen, Pankaj and balwant to the river bed and see the countless birds that live and thrive in this beautiful forest.
Shekar and his entire team are doing a great job taking care of the place and it's surroundings. A thumps up and all the best to camp hornbill from us. We will surely be back and would highly recommend this place to people interested in nature.

If you are looking for a place close to nature Camp Hornbill is a great option! I stayed there during a Students Workshop and had a great experience. First of all, Naveen is a wonderful person and is willing to assist you throughout the whole stay. He helped us with safaris, arranged snacks for us (at 5:30 AM) and booked a car (reliable one!) for our travel back to New Delhi. The food was amazing, especially breakfast! We stayed at mudhouses and it was rustic but comfortable. It is a great place to see some birds, especially the bulbuls and hornbills. The staff can take you to a walk around the forest where we saw tiger footprints and a whole bunch of animals. It is near to Corbett Tiger Reserve, so easy to go to safaris.
I strongly recommend Camp Hornbill.

We stayed there during our visit to Jim Corbett Forest. We were seven adults and four kids together. The place is really good for camping. The manager there is really helpful and cooperative. We stayed there for two days. They serve really good food and some recipes for local cuisine too. They serve five to six meals in a whole day. You will never feel hungry there. The setup is eco-friendly and beautiful with mostly recycled or upcycled products. They have an amazing place for bonfires. They have fun options for all age groups including amazing books for kids and grownups, nature lovers can explore ferns and fauna, a beautiful pond where we sat and played dumb charades, the river flowing outside the resort and bird watching. The rooms they have are mud houses with one double bed and kids' bed. Overall, we loved the place and its hospitality.

Camp Hornbill is our favourite choice for our retreats, and be become even more convinced with each interaction. The owners, The Upadhayay Brothers and their staff - our heads bow down in deep respect. Even though we went in a group, each of our participants received individual, personalised attention. In addition to that, they always add to our knowledge of the flora and fauna. Simply put - the place is a Pure Delight

This is the 6th visit to Camp Hornbill, Kyari in 2021.
Can't praise this place enough.
I was looking for a space to dive into nature and some birding. I was connected to the owner Naveen Upadhyay by a friend. Never have searched for any other place since that visit. Have been fed of properties in corbett which is disturbing the forest by loud music and such stuff. This place for all those travellers who are looking to connect with Nature alone. They have mud houses socially distanced from each other ideal during covid times and fully vaccinated staff.
Highly recommended

When one moves with an absolute trust in GOD, what unfolds is abundance galore.
The first time that we found Camp HornBill to conduct our Outbound retreat, it was a chance finding. We had NO IDEA of what the place has to offer.
I, for one, prefer to learn my own experiences [some that teach the hard way, thus a lesson of what not to repeat and others that makes one build Self Trust]
Camp HornBill is aperfectly blended place in nature that offers modern amenities which are a necessecity of the times - yet, it offers the raw look and feel of nature, which is what one aspires to experience.
Learing, I feel, happens best when one is deeply connected with self and the raw inner being. And, in a rustice place, one can be allowed to explore with self at a new level.
The staff at Camp HornBill are extremely curteous, very caring and always ready to assist you. The smallest of request is heard and honoured to the best of their abilities. The food is so delicious and the frequent additions of local dishes gets one to experience the local culture as well.
I wish both Naveen Upadhyay and Shekhar Upadhyay the Best and may the continue to inspire their teams who work like family. The ambience that the brothers have created is beautiful.
I am already looking forward to my next visit to Camp HornBill.
From me, they get a 5 Star Rating!!!
Best wishes,
