Please see other's review which are well covered. I am just mentioning things that I think I must share. Visited on 21st Feb 2022. Myself, wife and daughter on our own vehicle. We paid, Rs. 10400/- for 2 nights. The rates are higher, but they gave me discount. Good: 1. LOCATION: 5-6 KM away from main highway, inside a village. Not far away from main city. The road to resort is between dense forest and its condition is not good. But the view around is really good. I spotted a deer once. Camp's USP is its location 2. VIEW: Excellent. They gave me river facing hut. My hut name was Yuhina. Please ask same hut or other river facing hut. 3. NATURE: Its in the dense forest. You feel inside of forest all the time. The water stream gives really good feeling. 4. HUT: Excellent. Mud hut are their USP. bathrooms are clean. 5. Since it was very cold, they gave me room heater and hot water bottle for night. Good gesture ! I have habit of stayinig in 5 star, so few things I didn't like: 1. FOOD: Taste is good and home made. Less options. Once they repeated their last meal's dish in a meal. Over all not much complaints. Once I was away so I called them to keep my food when I return. They served me at 4 PM. I liked the gesture. 2. STAFF: Staff is courteous. Staff is dressed in home casuals. There is no dress code for them. Looks like locals. Fine but this they can easily change. 3. Quilt provided was good, but its cover was not well washed. I removed the cover to use it. Not good. 4. LIGHTENING: Very less inside hut and resort. After dusk it gives feeling of living inside forest. Scary for city dwellers, enjoyable for others. 5. MAINTENANCE: They can do a lot on maintenance and upkeeping of resort. You will find decaying leaves every where. Few things you will see here and there decaying or rottening. Not saying the resort is not clean, but still a lot could be done. Few things you will find are just ignored like sitting bench not cleaned at few corners of resort. Again, it will give you feeling of living in a forest. Some might like it, others not. SUMMARY: Must visit atleast once to refreshing your mind for city dwellers especially.…
I call this camp as excellent resort. The name "Camp" is just Mr. Shekhar being humble. Cottages: The setting inside this camp is wonderful. There are around 9 mud cottage with all modern amenities with hot water. Mud cottages are very spacious. Almost all cottages have a sitting/sleep area beside the window apart from main bed. This extra space can accommodate two adults comfortably. So it is a perfect family rooms with 2 adult +2 kids with separate bed inside a cottage. Service: There is common area right in center of camp, it is used for sitting/dining/reading purpose. There is a small library , you can enjoy reading there. During Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner, this area is dining area. Camp is so designed that there is hardly 20-30m distance from each cottage and guest can access this area easily. There is no room service as such, camp encourage its guest to come to common area and help themselves with food/tea etc.Although there is electric kettle with tea/coffee bags provided in room, we preferred our good old type tea, which is kept at sharp 7am in common area for all guests. Evening snacks also served in evening. Actually when you stay in camp, you feel part of their family. As there are limited number of mud houses, it never get crowed at any time. The camp: As you enter in camp, you will not be able to spot cottages, so many different types of trees are there that you will feel like living in jungle. No big budget resort can match the greenery. It is perfect relaxing place. There is a water stream going right along the camp and you can enjoy the river view from mud cottage. There is a nature trail and camp helped us in our nature walk. The family: The camp is run by a humble management who are local resident of village itself and all staff is from local village of Kyari. So there is strong sense of responsibility and bond among everyone to serve you better. I needed some medicine for my back muscle pull, they did everything to get me the medicine. I asked why they kept their price low when you are providing and maintaining the property so well that corporate can sell for triple the amount in name of wellness camp, there was just one answer "We are not here just for profit". The camp is awesome with lots of trees, cottages are well designed with modern facilities and old style, staff is great, I don't know what else one can ask for. We loved our stay there with family and kids. Thanks to each staff member for their excellent services. Looking forward to come back soon.…
This is the 6th visit to Camp Hornbill, Kyari in 2021. Can't praise this place enough. I was looking for a space to dive into nature and some birding. I was connected to the owner Naveen Upadhyay by a friend. Never have searched for any other place since that visit. Have been fed of properties in corbett which is disturbing the forest by loud music and such stuff. This place for all those travellers who are looking to connect with Nature alone. They have mud houses socially distanced from each other ideal during covid times and fully vaccinated staff. Highly recommended
A very good place to visit if you are a nature lover. Its was very relaxing. The staff was really really good , they deserve all the appreciation. The food was good too. A perfect place to be in if you are seeking peace.
We visited this place on 22nd October 2021 , a few days back there was a lot of rainfall in uttarakhand due to which the bijrani zone of the forest is closed. But the hotel owner or the staff didn't care to inform us before our arrival and when we arrived there said that safari is not possible. We told them to book in any other zone tomorrow or day after tomorrow but they refused and said that nothing is possible. But we called an agent and he said there was 1 permit available for dhela zone and we told the staff to book that for us and they couldn't due to their inefficiency and laziness. We were stuck in this place and we couldn't book any other Safari on any other day and the hotel owner said that "WE DO NOT PROMOTE SAFARI". But they didn't tell this earlier that they don't promote safari or else we would have selected other options available. The room is not good enough to be of so much cost. The extra bed is not so clean with ants all over it . So, we three adults had to sleep on the small double bed . This is not at all acceptable. The food was ok ok . It was homely. The environment around was very nice . The property is surrounded by lush forest of Jim Corbett National park. Summary:- Other than the ambience nothing is great about this property. Be careful because there are much better options than this available in JIM CORBETT NATIONAL PARK .…
Average stay. Good location, deep in Jungle and few things I liked to have less impact on nature like mud cottage and No AC in those. I thing good initiative. Also they kept in nature by trees and didn't tweak much. Two things was a down from me. Food was homely but truly homely like we eat every day at our home. Variety was almost none. Hardly 2-3 options and it tested same as home cooked food. Up to you to decide but I am used to a rich buffet. No pool or no gaming area for kids. So literally you don't have much then. Personally I love pool and corbett rain together but was no way to enjoy that. Jungle walk was excellent. They charged 500 and provided a person, who was good. But yes, pool and food was down for me. Has potential to do better than this.
Neeraj is a humble host and a great trek guide. His team maintains the place excellently well, and keeps the experience real. No high-pressure taps but the linen is crisp clean. Lanterns dot the stoned pathways that lead to very well maintained mud huts, with large bathrooms, polished-wood benches and accents. The kosi stream flows right by and you can't not like it. Food is good too. Dont expect buffet variety and you wont be disappointed. *Highly recommended*: The early morning tour-trek through the wilderness- the touch-me-nots, the woodpeckers, the butterflies, the footmarks of nocturnals, crossing a knee-deep stream enroute.
I was doubtful about this place , but after I visited , I was dam impressed . Mud houses , home cooked food , warm people , silence , tranquility , birds chirping . I would recommend this place to each and all . Special thanks to Navin , co-owner and an amazing person . He and his team were amazing .
At first we were reluctant about our outstation travel during Covid 19 but thanks to Camp Hornbill for providing us such a wonderful stay absolutely tension free. The place is beautiful, right in the jungle with a stream flowing close by. My dogs were super happy here and my family enjoyed very much. The staff was very helpful and provided us personal attention to ensure there is minimum contact and hygiene maintained. Social distancing was kept all throughout. Rooms were neat and clean and spacious. Aesthetically beautiful too. The manager, Naveen is very much customer oriented and takes care of the smallest of needs of the customer.
In these times of restrictions, doubt and insecurity I went back to my favourite places of all.. Camp Hornbill. Always a pleasure to be there amongst all the village folk and wonderful, ‘Saal’ forest. Neat, clean and this time around “Sanitised” as per the norms of powers that may be! I interacted with fellow guests as well as village folk during my week long stay. Thankfully or let’s say because of the steps taken there were no COVID cases recorded in Kyari or nearby villages. the huts and tents have always been at-least 10-15 meters apart and contained in a pristine environment. If you are specifically scared or paranoid about CoVID 19 and yet wish to go for tranquil holiday, Camp Hornbill is the best bet. Thank you Navin, Shekhar, Rajinder ji and all the associates at the Campsite. I shall be visiting again, soon. …
