The hotel has very recently been bought by its current owners who have clearly identified a large improvement project is necessary to bring facilities into the 21st century. They are doing this without compromising the comfort of guests whilst the improvements are being undertaken. Certainly the room I stayed in was very comfortable and had all the facilities I would...

I was part of a diving group using Capernwray. We usually use the County just up the road but it was full, but we were pleasantly surprised as it was far from the grotty place we were expecting from some of the other comments on Tripadvisor. It has a way to go yet but the rooms were clean. The shower...

After completing the Yorkshire 3 peaks this was our base for the evening. At first I was a bit apprehensive, the place looked very dated, however we learned that the new owners have good plans for the place which they have already put in place in the breakfast room which was very pleasant. The rooms were clean, comfortable and very...

A group of 11 Boldmere divers stayed here for two nights, & while it looked tired but loved, the amount of restoration and renovation work being carried out, it's going to be a one to "watch". We all love a good moan, well you could if your inclined here, but don't judge a book by its cover on this one,...

The new owners have only been there for 2 weeks. The rooms are clean and there was everything that we needed supplied. The rooms are old fashioned, and the plumbing is a little noisy. However the place is going to have a complete makeover, commencing soon, and any issues will be rectified. The hosts were welcoming and friendly. There was...

We stayed at the hotel as a group of divers training in Capernwray quarry. The room me whilst out dated are clean and the beds were comfortable. Breakfast was freshly cooked and nice. For £25 a night including breakfast, it is good value for money.

A group of 3 of us were on a Diver Training weekend at Capernwray Dive Centre. We booked this place as a bit of a last resort. I was also a little worried as I had read the previous Tripadvisor reports. There was nothing to worry about. The current Manager took over last year. The place has apparently changed a...

I was worried about staying at this hotel as I had read the reviews but when I arrived I was greeted by the receptionist who was very pleasant and explained that hotel has just been taken over by new management. I can honestly say I enjoyed my 2 nights stay. Staff are very helpful. Bathrooms are dated but rooms are...

Apparently we were lucky as the people in charge when we were there had just taken over from those who had attracted the negativity here, and you can see they are working hard to turn things round. Room was clean, staff were friendly, continental breakfast was decent value and all told our stay represented good value for an economically priced...

We stayed a few weeks ago .... The staff were rubbish ! Snappy & arrogant (Although we were informed they were leaving shortly after our stay so this may not be the case now) The rooms were dirty, I refused to take my shoes off in a room like that, the beds were old & poor sleep quality guaranteed! The...
