The hotel is very tired and is in dire need of a refurb. Some of the staff are lovely but some seem to just mill around not really keeping an eye on things in case anyone is signaling for a drink etc. The most annoying thing was having to pay in advance for Sunday lunch on Easter Sunday. We booked...

Thank you for your feedback and I would like to clarify that I did explain to you that the hotel had changed ownership and the priority was now a complete refurbishment.I did also advise you when I personally spoke to you on the phone that all guests were required to pay in advance as this was a special lunch. The furnishing is rather dated but comfortable. It's a bit dull in the lounge could do with more lamps on walls or tables. Mostly elderly people with families though occasionally a younger couple visiting with kids. Coffee is cheap. Bar staff friendly. A lady can go in alone for food or a drink and feel comfortable.

My wife and I went to the Dolphin Hotel on Saturday morning 8th April for a coffee to enjoy outside where tables are laid out overlooking the river; its a very nice spot. We were amazed and disappointed on giving our order for 2 coffees that no hot drinks were being served as that's all they had served in the...

We were visiting Hemmingford Abbotts for the AAAs birthday square dance and decided to stay at the Dolphin. It has a wonderful position on the Great Ouse with rooms overlooking the river, meadows and distant church spire. The setting is idyllic, the rooms are spacious and adequately appointed (ours had a balcony a few feet from the water with narrow...

hotel was in a great location but was dated and in need of update for the price charged on the night we stayed there were only bar meals available so we took the short walk over the bridge into town and found plenty of choice of eating styles. the rooms were clean and comfotable but basic with a very small...

Dropped into the Dolphin to meet up with friends for coffee before exploring St.Ives on foot and take advantage of their car park. We saw advertising signs for the hotel on a couple of roundabouts but missed the correct turn as there were no direction signs!! After crossing the river and realising we had missed it, we did a u-turn...

Spent weekend here with a few friends recently. Great views of the river. Friendly and efficient staff and service. Rooms really clean. Breakfast was delicious and great choice. Will definitely revisit in the summer.

We were in the Meadow Suite for a family gathering for Sunday carvery. Disappointed with the food - meat tough, Yorkshire puddings hard, vegetables average and there was no taste to anything! Overall not an experience to be repeated too soon. Shame as the setting is lovely and we have had excellent meals on earlier occasions.

We had a wonderful day thanks to the friendly and efficient staff. All the food was delicious and our guests had a lovely time. The surrounding views are stunning and excellent for a summer wedding. Would recommend.

We were with a large group in the Meadow Suite for a wedding. Everything was well organised. The bar staff and waiting staff were efficient and pleasant. We had a carvery which was well cooked although they had run out of beef and the vegetables were a bit too al dente for our table. We have heard that the daily...
