Villa Rosalena is a charming guest house in an historic villa, with stunning views from its bedrooms, loggia and terraces of the River Lima towards Ponte a Serraglio bridge in the unspoiled Tuscan spa town of Bagni di Lucca. It is a beautiful, tranquil spot yet restaurants, bars, local shops and the tourist information office in the former royal casino are only a few minutes walk.

Recently stayed at Villa Rosalena. Rod was so welcoming and provided all that we could have wanted for the perfect stay. His manner is welcoming but not at all intrusive and his breakfasts are sublime.
When you visit Villa Rosalena be prepared to have your breath taken away by the view, the images do not do it justice.
Excellent stay, thumbs up!!

My boyfriend and I recently stayed at Villa Rosalina, and had the most amazing time. Rod and Caroline were exceedingly gracious and accommodating hosts, and the breakfast was outstanding with loads of choice. Rod even went out and bought fresh pastries every morning! Our room was beautiful - really spacious, immaculately cleaned with a gorgeous 4 poster bed that was extremely large and comfortable. The lounge area was also fantastic, really well stocked with a huge selection of dvds, a wii and sky TV - perfect for a cosy night in. We often sat out on the balcony in the afternoon with a glass of wine and enjoyed the absolutely stunning views. As other people have mentioned, the wifi was incredibly fast, by far the best we have had during our trip to Italy. There are also numerous travel books and leaflets with great ideas of things to do in the surrounding area, and Rod and Caroline have some fantastic walks to suggest as well. Overall, this has been the best place we have stayed in Italy - Bagni di Lucca is a beautiful town with great hiking available right on your doorstep, and there is such easy access by train to Lucca, Pisa and Florence. Rod and Caroline were so helpful during our stay and we will definitely be coming back again soon!

We stayed at the Villa Rosalena on a long drive up from southern Italy. We found the villa very easily thanks to the map Rod had emailed to us. The room we stayed in had fabulous views up the valley which we could still see from the bed! We also had the best WiFi strength in our room of any we had experienced in Italy. It was lovely to sit by a log fire in the lounge area and to read more about Bagni di Lucca. We walked along the river and can see why the village was a favourite haunt of poets and writers. Rod advised us to visit Lucca before we continued our journey back to England and we are really glad we took up his suggestion as Lucca is a fascinating city. We certainly intend returning to Villa Rosalena to enjoy the hospitality and explore the area more thoroughly.

I recently stayed with 2 friends at Villa Rosalena and we would definitely go again. We only stayed a few nights for a nearby Wedding but the Owner (Rod) was very helpful in sorting out taxis for us and generally making our stay as easy and relaxing as possible.

The area was great to explore and definitely recommend the Pizzeria down in the village only a 5 minute stroll away.

Thanks as well for the excellent breakfasts and comfy beds!

We have just returned from our second visit to this lovely B & B. I first reviewed Villa Rosalena last year (2.10.12) and can happily say that nothing has changed....thank goodness!
There is a certain magic about the place that is hard to put into words.
Rod, the owner was soooooo brilliant, for everything from the delicious breakfasts, to helping us plan trips out and about. Nothing was too much trouble, indeed, the genuine hospitality, warmth and good humour he displays makes your stay all the more enjoyable.
Rod's wife Caroline, with whom he runs the B & B was away but Rod kept up the excellent standards and did an amazing job.
Villa Rosalena has something special.
Magic.

We stayed at this fantastic B&B back in August 2008. It has taken this long to put pen to paper as we just don't do "reviews" in this family. Villa Rosalina is our exception to this rule.

What's the GOOD:
Just about everything! The rooms (all 4) are wonderful with high quality en-suites, very spacious, and our 2 rooms had views to die for along the valley to the historic town of Bagni Di Lucca. You have to love this place and breakfast was the crowning glory of our 6 week Euro trip. Hosts Caroline & Rod were so helpful and made such a fuss of us and made our little girls birthday so special with confetti and treats for breakfast. Our hosts gave us tips and info on the local area and made our stay the best experiance in Italy. If you imagine a Tuscan hideaway then this is it.

What's the BAD:
Just about nothing! Steps to the Villa may be a challenge to older guests or those of us carrying a little excess weight. The nearby pizzeria is fantastic but the owner can get a bit excited "Italian style". However his pizzas are the best in Tuscany (in our view).

Nigel, Tracy, Chelsey, Janet & Brian.

We were traveling with our family so we utilized 3 of the 4 rooms at Villa Rosalena. It was wonderful! The view is fabulous, there is plenty of space to relax and spread out, and the hosts are incredible. Caroline and Rod went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. Caroline even gave us a ride to the train station and helped us purchase our ticket. Villa Rosalena is a must if you are going to Bagni.

This is a lovey couple running a wonderful B&B. I can't recommend it highly enough.
We were charmed by the situation of Villa Rosalena. Our room gave us wonderful views looking down onto Bagni di Lucca along the river. My husband is vegetarian and I'm vegan - Caroline came up with scrumptious breakfasts every day. The linens are also worth mentioning.....it's so nice to reach for a thick Egyptian cotton towel and to slide into a bed with good quality bed linen.
We have only praise for this delightful B&B.

What can we say?! We (3 adult couples from the same family) came to Bagni di Lucca and Villa Rosalena to celebrate a family wedding. Our stay at this beautiful b&b could not have been bettered. Rod and Caroline are the perfect hosts and could not have been more helpful, friendly and informative. The accommodation was absolutely spotless and everything you could ask for and more. The breakfasts were absolutely outstanding and a highlight of every day - with Carolines imaginative flair for creating something different to delight your tastebuds! one morning sweet, another savoury mmmmmmmmm! One evening Caroline cooked us a meal to enjoy on the balcony. The food, drink, company and view could not have been any more spectacular. A place we are sure to visit again one day - hopefully soon! Thank you Rod and Caroline, we loved every second and didn't want to leave!

Rod and Caroline are the perfect hosts. They genuinely care about their guests. Our stay at Villa Rosalena was the high point of our 17 day Tuscany adventure.
Our needs were met beyond our expectations, the food was truly excellent, and our "room with a view" spectacular.
What more can I say!
