Stayed here for a week for a conference recently. Gianpaolo, the proprietor, who speaks very little English, had lost our booking when we arrived. Mercifully he later found it and moved us to a bigger room - that is to say a smallish rather than a minuscule room. Breakfast is sparse but cheerful, and the whole atmosphere is of a place no longer quite "at itself". Infinitely obliging service around the language barrier -- (well my fault for going to Italy with virtually no Italian) --and handy enough for anyone wanting to get out and about. I liked the place, but would rather be back at the top of the hill another year.
Spent four nights at the Bridge Hotel as I was attending a conference in Bagni di Lucca. I am so glad that I stayed here as it is the most centrally located of all the hotels and extremely convenient. Yet it is also quiet (Bagni is a quiet place) and I slept soundly every night. Giampaolo is a warm and wonderful host and I enjoyed the cappuccino, croissants and yogurt every morning. The Bridge is steps away from the wine bar, lovely restaurants and an amazing gelato shop. There is a bus-stop just outside and you can catch the bus to Lucca - a lovely historical town. I highly recommend the Bridge.
Smallest rooms and bathrooms that need renovation. Originally given room at front but when we opened the window we looked straight in to the living room of the house on the other side of the very barrow road. We could hear there TV. Needed to keep window open as room hot and no air cond. changed to a back room ( not as good as the front one) as we could leave the window on and it was very quiet. Breakfast only just OK. Could do better in the town
We stayed here after a stressful last-minute Airbnb host cancelled, so at 6pm 7 of us came in hoping to find anywhere to sleep. And what we found was fantastic! It's more like a B&B than a hotel (breakfast was included), and it was decorated really retro, like it hasn't really changed since the 70s (except the rooms, which were clean and modern). The owner is adorable (does not speak much English though), and he really took time to make sure we were comfortable and happy. When we wanted to go to dinner at 9, he called the restaurant three doors down to make sure they stayed open, and they even had a table reserved just for us when we arrived. Overall A++, I wish all hotels were like this!
What on the outside appears plain & easy to overlook, tucked into a shady corner of the piazza in Ponte A Serraglio is actually an immaculately clean, comfortable & entirely pleasant hotel with a team of staff who are so friendly, welcoming & ever helpful, day or night. We took 4 rooms for a bus mans holiday while some friends helped re-lay floors in our house further up towards Vila. We advised of a late arrival, driving with a van & car from UK, as soon as we arrived we were greeted in the most pleasant way & shown immediately to our rooms. Nothing has been too much trouble & I would not hesitate in recommending to friends, family or anyone else planning on visiting this jewel outside Lucca, in the spar resort of Bagni Di Lucca.
As others have said, Gianpaulo is the owner, bell boy, chauffeur, breakfast server, etc. During registration, he even ran outside with us to block local traffic so we got the best parking spot in front of the hotel. When I told him I would like a large, hot coffee for breakfast, i got my own pot with heated milk. Perfect! I think he even waited up to make sure we got back safely in the evening. The rooms were simple, but had all the necessities including WiFi. While small, the hotel does have an elevator to get your bags up to your room, and breakfast includes a variety of very fresh croissants. Would definitely stay there again. Great Location!
Sometimes it happens...you walk into a hotel and immediately feel at home. The secret here? Gianpaulo, the 82 year old owner who is running the place for over 30 years. Result is that all rooms still have a styleful brown white interior like in the movies from that period. Being part of a big group visit for a wedding, we ended up in hotel Bridge after our original booking at hotel Corona didn't come through. Gianpaulo looked at our sweaty faces and immediately insisted in driving us to hotel Regina, where other guests were staying and a pool was waiting for us. The following days we helped translating to other non-Italian speaking guests and the affection grew mutual. On our last day he drove us to the railway station and with an Italian hug we said goodbye.
We drove into Bagni di Lucca not really knowing what to expect. We found the Hotel Bridge beside the river and arranged a room (very nice). The lady there did not speak English but with some of my pidgin Italian and many hand gestures we managed a conversation! The breakfast was nice, the room quiet and restful. there are some good restaurants nearby so overall a very nice experience.
We were registered in a B&B that just wasn't what we thought - we canceled when we arrived but it was VERY late at night, pouring rain and there were 6 of us. We were told we might find rooms at The Bridge Hotel. We had our Italian guardian angel watching because we did get rooms at The Bridge. It was our most memorable experience! The owner was so gracious and took us in - even though we looked like a bunch of bedraggled pups. The rooms were retro 50s which we all found very charming. It was like a step back in time. Breakfast was just amazing with local butter and breads - all so fresh. The views of the town were just beautiful. The bar next door - I believe it was called The American Bar - had GREAT food and even better service - especially because we came in at after 10 pm! We all agreed we would love to go back!…
