We arrived with no expectations and were overwhelmed by everything and I mean everything. The owner treats you like a long lost friend, the staff is helpful and the attention to detail is astounding. The wine cellar is unique and probably unmatched as the cavernous walls date back to the 6th century. The town itself is away from the tourist...

We went this spring (May) just as the sleepy town was awakening and getting reading for the season and before the hordes of tourists hit the Amalfi coast. Though Sant'Agata sui due Golfi isn't really located on the tourist track. The hotel is rather small (9 rooms) and was fairly empty which made it all the more gorgeous even though...

Just back from our third stay. Previously we just went to Don Alfonso for a meal while staying a short distance away in Positano, but when they added the rooms we decided to avail ourselves of the 3 night package with meal included and this is the third year we've done that. We've had lovely stays there ever since: excellent...

We went to the Don Alfonso 1890 cooking school while visiting Sorrento. The experience is hard to describe - there is such a serious yet welcoming and hospitable atmosphere. The mood is friendly, inviting and fun - the hospitality is warm and all embracing. We felt at home from the moment we arrived. The class was helpful, precise and well...

This is a real gem of a hotel in a rather non descript working town. We spent three nights here in the lap of luxury. Lovely gardens and view of bay of Naples and personal service from the owners. This hotel ranks "up There" with some of the best we have stayed in. be sure to have a meal at...

We were quite excited at the prospect of staying at Don Alfonso 1890 before going although we'd been to Italy many times. We had also booked lessons at the cooking school for four days. The entire experience as it turned out exceeded all our expectations. You couldn't ask for better hosts than the Iaccarinos. They do not just own and...

The Best stay we had in our trip to Europe (Which included Hotel De Paris and Four Seasons hotels). The BEST food we had on our trip. We were treated like family. Amazing wine cellar and Etruscan caves from 5BC. Impeccable service. We can't wait to go back!!!

Wonderful lunch recommended by our hotel in amalfi as we were driving to Sorrento. Expensive but creative and wonderful food. Recommended if you're a foodie. There is no view, though. The service is excellent and we appreciated wines by the glass selected were not too expensive.

Disclaimer....this was by far the best experience I've had in a hotel and as a result this review may sound too good to be true. I thought the same thing before my visit to the Don Alfonso. I'm now a believer. This hotel ranks among the best in the world. You will be greeted by the most welcoming and warm...
