There was a 50 % discount in June, so for that price we got a nice short vacation. The hotel itself is a bit outdated, but renovated with clean rooms with terraces. There is a nice indoor pool with jacuzzi and a three types of saunas. The outdoor pool is not big, but placed in a great, green yard with a lot of trees. We got a free bathrobe for the pools and a welcome drink as well. There is a big parking lot in the yard of the property. The food was excellent and really various. The hotel is about 700-800 meters from the central thermal spa of Harkany city, but because of the great pools of our hotel we didn't have to go there. There are also nice places for small excursions in the neighborhood: the Villany and Villanykovesd villages with famous wine-cellars, the hiking trail around Mariagyud and the Siklos castle.

Poor wellness quality. The rooms are very "minimalistics", furniture from last decade. The bathroom is renewed, but no shampoo, condioner or body lotion but a poor quailty shower gel. The terrace wood elements are in terrible state, putrefied.
Overall: poor quality 2-3 star. Not suggested.

This hotel is still advertised as a Four-Star hotel, although it was demoted to Three Stars some time ago.
Harkany is famous of its natural thermal water.

The hotel is a "wellness" hotel, however, the wellness part is only one large pool with few saunas inside, and another cold pool outside. Normally a wellness would be few pools (with different water temperatures) together with different fountains, bubbles, jets etc.
They have two hot thermal-water pools, but they charge about $5 extra for it per day. Weird. They should be part of the wellness area. The outside pool was closed at 6PM in August.
The tiles around the inside pool is dangerously slippery.

The reception level is nicely fixed up and decorated. Also the diner and the bar looks good. There is a "play" area with a pool-table across the reception, where the free WIFI is very strong. I was not able to use it in the room.
We rented two rooms. One was a larger recently fixed up room on the fourth floor, the other one was less expensive on the second floor. Both room was "half-board", that meant it came with breakfast and dinner included in the price.
The fixed up room was very nice with a queen sized bed with thick mattress. Flat screen TV, AC. Contemporary bathroom with a larger shower. It had no balcony, nor view.
The smaller room on the second floor was quite small. The beds were two twin-like bed, with thin, lumpy and short mattress on it. Also, the blanket was quite short. I am 5'7", but when I covered my shoulders, my feet were hanging out. The room had no A/C (fortunately the weather was cooler, so didn't need it). The bathroom looked OK, but needed some TLC. Tile grouts were dirty-looking, soap dispenser was broken.
Otherwise the room furniture was functional with a lot of closets. It had a tiny old TV set, that I didn't turn on.
This room had a balcony with a nice garden view. There was an unfinished gap near the window and the wall. The walls were quite thin. Any time the next door neighbor fiddled with his door, I thought someone is trying to enter into my room. Despite all of these problems, I have to admit, I had a great night sleep.

The dinner selection was quite limited, but everything tasted good. Our waiter, a middle aged gentleman was very nice and patient. We stayed quite a bit longer, after they closed, and he told us not to hurry.
The breakfast selection was fine. Except the coffee, and juices. Coffee tasted awful... and the juices tasted fake.
A guy was playing on a keyboard during the dinner and breakfast. He created a fun atmosphere with his music.

We have arrived to this hotel as a family spa holiday on Monday, 22nd August. We have purchased this deal through something similar to Groupon.
We were staying 4 days in this hotel and experienced the followings:

-we were only given 1 set of coupons although we have purchased 2x coupons for 2 days which should have been getting us 2 sets
-When we arrived the main lift was out of order and our room was located on the 2nd floor
-The internet connection was not working due to a broken router issue as we have found out from reception
-We have been given a South-East facing room without air conditioning (outside temperature was 44 degrees centigrade in a sunshade)
-Reception could not find a free standing fan either! (it took them 36 hours to get one...)
-The thermal water (had no relationship to thermal water though) was dirty and was only cleaned once a week (info from reception)
- There was no cleaning happening by the pool side, no safety person was looking after guests in the pool
- The steam room was broken, there was only one sauna operating out of 3!
-There was no masseur available in the wellness section to have a full 1 hour massage for my wife for 4 days in a row (the excuse was lack of staff)
-The shower cubicle (there was no bath in the room) was filthy and the water didn't flush after a shower
-we have hired a bike in one evening and shortly realised that none of the bikes had a working light (fron and back) or were any safety helmets provided.
-In the restaurant, my 8 year old daughter has been served an off apple juice which has made her sick the following day
-The choice of food would have been if we had seen any of the refills from the empty serving trays (but we havent)
-It took at least 3 times at dinner we have got the drinks served after we have finished the meal (it took them 40 minutes to deliver)
-it wasn't unusual that we have seen the pasta served in the evening as a following mornings pasta salad mixed with mayo
-the fruit and pickle dishes were full of midges (it was disgusting)
-The outside pool had simple tapwater (was cold and smelly) and it wasn't cleaned much (not in the 4 days we have been there)
-The water irrigation system around the outside pool started one afternoon at 2PM soaking guests cameras, bags, magazines, laptops, mobiles etc
-We wanted to check out earlier and get our money back. We have been not asked what is the reason of the early checkout but mentioned few times by a receptionist that "they have a strict non-refund policy" as we had to pay the full price in advance we had no power as a customer....
-Somebody in the wellness section had said a classic statement "fraction of a service for the reduced price" you have got what you paid for....

so after all I will not go again to this place ever and recommend it to anybody. the staff were unfriendly, the service quality didn't exist, it was a rip off privately owned hotel (after making a formal compliant to the management...)

Double room is very small, we were there with a child, and there was not place to move in the room even at night to go to the toilet. Bathroom is very dirthy and you have to share it with some ants and everything is rusty. Bed is uncomfortable and short however I am only 175 cm. Swimming pool with cool water is quite OK, but you have to pay add to the small pool with thermal water.
Some positive things: saunaword is OK and staff is polite.

Hotel is almost two years old. Rooms are clean and normal size. On the 4th floor they have a bigger rooms with LCD TV. They offer different kind of pools with thermal water. In the hotel exist also a spa center with all services. The staff can not speak English very well, but they are very kind and helpful.

It is terrible no one to go here, the food is small and disgusting, the bunkers of the accommodation. There is no airlock or stitching, no extra bed, but there is a lot of ant. Even the pool is also toll-free

The hotel rated on four stars but unfortunately is a total disappointment. Dirty bathroom, small trash minibar and everything is so used. It's visible the operator only keep the daily business without any improvement or even proper maintenance. We checked in waited the dinner and recognized that it's the same level like the hotel itself. Didn't spend the dinner. Checked out right away. Not recommended.

We went there as a family with two teenager kids. The hotel is nicely refurbished, calm and relaxing. Rooms are OK and the catering is OK as well (dinner is dull though). Apart from the wellness facilities the hotel has it's own health spa the water is proven to be very effective to cure skin and gynecology problems and arthritis. Since Harkany can be overloded with tourist and visitors it is nice to have the private spa.
Staff is very kind and the new management work really hard to change the old habits (I was there 3 times few years ago and i can tell the difference!) All together if I visit Harkány I go there because it is really calm, guiet and relaxing with it's "no worries" atmosphere.
In the nice park surrounding the hotel you find well kept sport facilities as well. Kids can enjoy the pool, table tennis, football field and Harkány's main Spa and Pool Center is only 300 m away.
I would not recommend this hotel for a bachelor party but for those who just want to relax or have some health issue it is the place to go in Harkány!

Wellness and staff were allright. However, as far as the dinner is concerned, it was more like a student's canteen, than the restaurant of a 4* hotel. The quality of the food was in a very low level, except the breakfast, which was good.
The most outrageous was the checkout when we had to wait one and a half hour since there was only one receptionsit in shift, and there was a long queue. Whats more, the receptionist called her colleague to ask for help, who managed to get there by the time when everybody had already checked out.
If I had to rate this hotel, I would say it is not a 4* but a 3* hotel, which needs lots of changes and improvements.
