We came here as a family of four (two children aged 8 and 11) for two weeks. We had a wonderful time and were very sad to leave.

Practical details: the hotel is located in Kokkini Hani, which is a 15 minute taxi ride from Heraklion airport (cost 25-27 euro). The village has one large supermarket, several smaller general stores, pharmacists, several tavernas and ATMs all along a single road. Most of it is within 15 minutes walk if the hotel, but there is a shop virtually opposite the hotel for wine, beer, snacks, souvenirs etc. There is a bus stop nearby (in front of Arina Hotel) which runs a bus service into Heraklion every 15-30 mins (cost 2-3 euro).

The hotel is styled like a traditional Greek village, winding paths through white washed buildings and perfumed gardens. It sits directly on the beach and has a private artificial cove complete with cabanas, loungers and a beach bar. The water is crystal clear, shallow and warm. There are three restaurants - Yafsis, which serves the buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner, and Swell and Si La which are reservation-only and serve finer Cretan dining. The hotel has a spa and three swimming pools, two of which are suitable for children.

We booked two adjoining rooms to give us plenty of space. They were very comfortable with good showers, TV (limited choice of channels), wifi and large glass sliding doors opening out into a private balcony with a table, chairs and loungers.

Now to my five star rating. I have stayed at cheaper hotels and more luxurious hotels. I rate this very good for the price. But what makes it excellent in my view is the customer service. We were met with a big smile and a kalimera/kalispera everywhere we went, and the waiting staff could not to enough for us. In particular Nina, Evangelos, Talli and Christina made our daughters feel very special, Vagelis and Georgios at the beach were super friendly, and manager Stelios was very helpful with a slightly unusual request. Highly recommended if you are staying near Heraklion

I booked Knossos Beach Bungalows and Suites for our Honeymoon. We stayed here for 7 nights in May 2022.
The second we walked through reception main doors, we were greated by the customer relations manager (Mariah I think, sorry if I got the name wrong), a lovely lady. We were given complementary drinks while completing our check in forms, and our luggage was put to one side. The feeling of this hotel immediately felt like a 5*. Once checked in we went for food before going to our room, the food was lovely with a wide variety of selection.
Once we had food, we were then escorted to our room by the customer relations manager and porter who had our luggage.
The room was very clean and very presentable, we stayed in a Waterfront suite. The room had a huge bathroom area, jacuzzi bath, sitting area, his and her sink. We were presented with a bowl of fresh fruit on the table in the lounge area, very nice, and the fridge was stocked up with beer, wine, water and soft drinks, all complimentary. The balcony was huge and was the width of the entire room, it had a table seating area and also private sun loungers and umbrella on the other side. The balancy/room, overlooked the private beach and sea, what an amazing view. The rooms were cleaned daily and we were provided with beach towels for use on sunbeds, free of charge.
The hotel grounds were very clean and tidy and well looked after.
We also had 2 complimentary sit ins for each of the hotels restaurants which you usually have to pay to eat in, I believe the complimentary sit ins are based on your room type. We ate at both. The first restaurant we ate at was called Si La, we sat outside next to the sea, what a lovely place. Staff were extremely friendly and the food was second to non. The second restaurant was called Swell, and again, friendly staff and amazing food.
We found the staff at the hotel very friendly all the time, so any reviews you read about this hotel and staff being rude etc, they have definitely turned a corner, they couldn't do enough. During our stay, we were invited to a "meet the managers", cocktail drinks. We went, and again spoke to Mariah and also the hotel manager, he was also very nice. I thought the meet the manager was very good idea, this helped the hotel ensure they were doing everything they could to make guests stay enjoyable and to expectations.
The hotel during our stay was very quiet, there was absolutely no need to reserve sunbeds as they were never all used during the day.
I can't really fault our stay here, it was definitely the relaxing type of hotel you would expect for a 5*.
However, if you are looking for entertainment which consists of the conga, and karaoke, this is not the hotel for you.
We would definitely stay here again in a heartbeat.
Thank you for making our stay enjoyable, relaxing and special.

Sion and John

We’ve stayed here 5 years in a row and enjoyed it even more every year. The staff are incredibly warm, welcoming & accommodating. The buffet breakfast is tasty & plentiful, but the a la carte options are GREAT (and if you book a suite all inclusive you can have lunch & dinner at Si La or Swell a la carte restaurants).

The hotel includes two private sandy beaches, and the water is nice and warm (still 25 C in early October!). We usually come in June, July or August for a few weeks, but this year amidst COVID-19 I came back to stay on my own and work remotely throughout Sep & Oct.

Having tried a few room types over the years our favourites are the Island Suite and the Waterfront Suite with Private Pool and Beach Access. The latter is especially the wonderful — you step out of your room to a small private infinity pool overlooking the sea, with loungers and stairs down to the beach. It’s fabulous to get out of the sea after a few hours of snorkelling and lounge in the pool to relax further.

The best kept secret though is that in addition to the 2 private beaches, there is also a third bay to the east (opposite Si La) which has a rocky bottom and a vibrant undersea ecosystem. You can see dozens of different species of fish (tho wear sea shoes / flippers as these include scorpionfish, weevers, blennies and others that you do NOT want to stand on), octopus, Mediterranean moray eels and even the occasional cuttlefish.

I’ve even been privileged to see turtles on multiple occasions!

Pro-tips for spotting turtles: swim on the surface, calmly and ideally just sculling with your arms (not kicking). Don’t dive down or rush toward a turtle if you spot it — you’ll scare it away. Best chance to see them is on calm days with low to no swell and very little wind. They tend to be directly opposite Si La, beyond the end of the reef (50% of its length further out) where the pampas grass grows on the rocks. And remember to collect any plastic bags you see, turtles mistake them for jellyfish and sadly die by choking on them 😰

We travelled from Dublin to heraklion on the 18/08/20 for a week we stayed in the spa suite with sea views an private pool an cabana bed in the garden. We ate in si la la carte restuarant in the hotel most evenings and we walked to the little town in the day and had lunch in all the restuarants there.
Our time at the hotel was exactly as i said very chilled out and relaxing the ambience was was warm an friendly and we have the excellent management at the front desk and all of the other staff to thank for that .. the hotel prioritised our safety hygiene standards were excellent but done in a way that wasn't screaming in your face and i can say the same for the nearby restuarants shops etc that we visited.covid 19 cannot stop the natural warmth an friendliness of the people in Greece .. thank god

We don't usually stay in resort hotels as they tend to be overpriced, pretentious, and generic, IMO. This one is not. It has tons of character, very friendly and helpful staff, comfortable room, etc. We didn't do all-inclusive as it's never a good deal anywhere for us (vegetarians who don't drink much), but had dinner at the restaurant twice and it was pretty good. There were 4 or 5 tavernas within 10 min walk and we ate very well and cheaply for our other dinners. We had lunch on the beach at the resort beach bar everyday, which was good, but got a bit samey after a few days (as vegetarians), but I'm being nit-picky. Breakfast was fantastic. We had a sea view suite, which had a very private balcony and an assigned beach cabana, which was great for lounging all day. We pulled up sun beds occasionally to get extra sun and nobody minded. The resort was not crowded at all (Sept 2021). The beach was a bit seaweedy but there were several coves you could swim from and there was always one or two that were more clear. The planes flying over were not frequent enough or low enough to bother us and I'm really sensitive to sounds. The trip was exactly what we needed and I HIGHLY recommend this place!

Dreadful , do not expect 5 star

We are here for a bit of sun and a break before UK winter , we were upgraded to a suite room and we had paid for all inclusive option as we enjoy good local food and had made that clear to our travel agents

Such a disappointment. The room is not 5 star standard , the towels are dried hard and very rough , the shower leaked all over the floor , the toilet seat will not stay up and the sealants are all broken and mould on the ceiling
As for the food , all inclusive should be what it says on the offer , we quite happy to drink local brands but , a big but , is that you can only eat at the buffet for the whole time you are here , the food is always lukewarm , lack of variety and almost like being back on a school refectory , especially when guests turn up for evening meal dressed in slippers and dressing gown ! Lack of standards generally .

All meals , except when you have a voucher given by the hotel for the al La carte ( one visit only per stay ) are buffet , if you want the Al carte menu ( looks much better ) you have to pay extra as despite it advertising as all inclusive , it’s not , staff struggle to explain how it works and you can only book and eat in the evening
I would not recommend the hotel to anyone , it’s poor service , arrogant staff and does not offer the usual 5 star hospitality .

When someone made such big investment to construct such lovely property with comfortable, big rooms with good beds and big terraces tight on the send beach, it’s a pity not to organize it properly. Everything is in details, and that exactly what missing there. You don’t have glasses it the room but only two paper cups!! Two! And you are paying the room more than EUR 300 per night. Mini bar only with juices. Breakfast is absolutely without any imagination. With the same amount of money you can organize breakfast which guests will remember. You need he just to want that. At the end, we moved our luggage by ourselves when leaving the property. Even we call, nobody appear. They don’t need to invest additional money to make this place to be real 5 stars hotel, they need just to think, and to pay attention.for details.

We stayed at the Knossos Beach Hotel for a week and we had a great stay there. We started off in a standard room but we decided to pay a bit extra and get a sea view bungalow. The standard room was very nice and the balcony was very big but there was too much traffic noise from the main roads for our liking. The hotel were very accommodating and got us a sea facing bungalow which was lovely. The person who organised it for us carried our luggage for us too. We didn’t catch his name but he was excellent. In fact, the whole staff were so attentive and were exceptional in the level of service they provided. Dimitry and Georgia on reception along with an older gentleman who we didn’t catch the name of. They were so helpful with all our questions and requests. The dining room staff were outstanding. We managed to get a few of their names: Tilla, Nina, Anastasia and Nikki but there were others. During our stay, it was my wife’s birthday. The hotel had baked a cake especially and put it inside our fridge in our room. It was such a lovely personal touch that made our stay even more special. The housekeeping staff were also very good. Sometimes you go to a hotel and the staff can appear as though they don’t really enjoy their job. That was not the case in this hotel. The staff were always very happy, friendly and helpful. The hotel itself is beautiful. As soon as you go into the main reception area, you can smell this lovely fragrance a bit like patchouli. The rooms smell like that too. The bungalows are planned out like a traditional Greek village. There is a private beach there in its own cove area. The hotel grounds are lovely. There is an archway surrounding by flowers which led to the Spa. Most of the Spa was closed unfortunately because of Covid. The food is excellent. They do a lot of the baking themselves and the food is always fresh. There was always a great selection on offer. The hotel is in a nice location, only about five minutes’ walk from Kokkini Hani. There is a main bus route outside the hotel and it was easy to take the bus to Heraklion and back which was only twenty minutes away by bus.

Went to Crete prior to joining a Rick Steves tour in Athens on June 5. I wanted a beach resort to get over jet lag and found this resort. We stayed in one of the rooms that has a private plunge pool and sun deck. The room (164) consisted of a very large bathroom with a sink, a separate extra large shower, a double sink vanity out side the shower. A king-size bed to sleep on. The room was right by the communal pool and one of the restaurants. Each room also gets a beach cabana.

The staff was exceptional! The car we rented did not have a usb port and no GPS, so I made use of the phone for directions, so battery was drained rather quickly. I went to the front desk to see if they had a 12v adapter in the lost and found. The gentleman I asked could not find one, so he took me across the street to a market that he said sold everything, and he was right, I purchased one.

The breakfast was excellent, the only thing that could have been better was for it to have a coffee station to avoid having to ask the staff for more coffee. The resort has 3 restaurants. Near the resort there are several restaurants within walking distance.

The location is about 10 miles W of the airport of Heraklion, about a 30€ taxi ride. The archeological site of Knossos Palace less than a 30 min. drive, the Heraklion Archeological Museum also about 30 min. due to traffic.

We are just about to check out. We’ve had a wonderful two weeks holiday here.
We stayed in room 117 which has a beautiful albeit somewhat restricted view of the beach from the terrace. Unfortunately the terrace is a main thoroughfare for the resort and so there are a lot of passers by morning, noon and night. Mainly the workers though as they tirelessly work to maintain a high standard across the gardens and rooms.

The food in all the restaurants was exceptional, upon arrival you are given two vouchers one for Si La restaurant and Swell restaurant. Both evenings we spent in these were excellent and the food was delicious.

The main area for all inclusive and half boarders + breakfast was always generally busy but always shake to find a table and the food was great, very tasty and plenty of choices which was also replenished regularly.

Pool area is very pretty and very chilled out and the beach was great. We did not book a room with a cabana but on a day we wanted one, we were able to chat with the guys in the beach bar and they were able to allocate this does cost €20 for the day.

All in all no complaints, great place to stay and we have decided to come back again next year with a room upgrade.

Highly recommend if you are looking for peace and tranquillity 👍🏻..
