The Hotel is set in magnificent grounds in the middle of the country. The rooms are very comfortable and the service is excellent and friendly. It has a gastronomic restaurant on site and a brasserie in their other hotel , The Cottage, a few minutes away. We ate in the Cottage and it was excellent

I and my partner were privileged to stay at this magical establishment while attending a wedding in a nearby village over the weekend of August 19-21 (2016). It's a little off the beaten track, but easily accessible by car, or by taxi from Vienne station about 10km away. Where to start? The main house, which also incorporates the top-level gastronomic... Overall it was Ok, but was in poor condition, broken floor tiles and poor to average facilities. The accommodation is in a separate 1970s building of strange design, Basins and bath are concrete. It was OK but maintenance is poor lots of small issues. Very expensive to eat there at dinner, better off going to Vivionne. In fact better to... More

We stopped here as we were were driving North from Barcelona to Paris (with many stops along the way). Last minute booking. We were placed in the outside building, and had a very large room, with quite possibly the largest bathtub I have ever seen. The restaurant was not open that evening, but we walked to Le Cottage for dinner... More

Very nice hotel, formal service, with large rooms (annex) with balcony (strong free wifi) and nice bathrooms. Pity our shower had a used soap and shampoo cap of a previous guest. The surrounding park (cocktail/drink area) is beautiful and has a small pond housing a solitary swan. The dinner at Chef Girardon’s table was an experience from the formidable wine... More

This hotel is owned and run by Philippe Girardon and it houses his Michelin starred restaurant. This was a stopover for us and a big, wonderful surprise. The rooms are big and very old-school. It may have been the biggest French hotel room I have stayed in. They were just tearing down from a wedding when we arrived, and this... More

We stayed here for 3 nights in May 2016. The hotel is situated in a lovely park setting and the rooms in the annexe were very comfortable. Reception and other staff were very helpful and friendly. The restaurant lived up to its Michelin star and the service was impeccable. On one evening we dined at the nearby bistro (Le Cottage,... More

What an idyllic setting with an incredibly helpful and knowledgeable staff. We made our two days here an experience by participating in Chef Girardon’s cooking class. I would highly recommend this to complete your experience and fully comprehend their attention to detail. We stayed in the annex and the rooms were spacious with huge bathrooms. We all had a little... More

The road south from Paris to the Mediterranean coast makes a long drive, and with the passing years we have decided to cut it in two: this means finding a comfortable place to stay overnight half way down France and a good place to eat. My wife and I heartily recommend the Domaine de Clairefontaine not far from Vienne. We... More

Beautiful setting, friendly service and good food. I would not recommend staying in the summer time in the rooms at the main building – La Maison. Especially the rooms on the second floor get extremely hot (no aircon), and the rooms are quite old – with furniture from the 1960’s. Well – they also do not charge much for those... More
