Stayed here for a few nights, was a good location walkable into Sant Elena where there is good restuarants and bars, but out of the town so nice and quiet. Host (Freddy?) was very friendly, had great info, provided a map of the area and good tips on which restaurants and activities to visit. Breakfast was very good, decent choice and the options we had were very nice. Room was clean, modern and spacious with a comfortable bed and large shower.
Great location; comfortable, spacious, clean rooms; excellent food/breakfast. Freddy and family are super friendly and very helpful. Brilliant choice for the price point - would definitely recommend. They gave us great dinner suggestions. Had decent wifi and room had a safe which was great.
Eddy's Place is a modestly furnished Bed & Breakfast within a few minutes drive of Monteverde Reserve and within walking distance to the downtown of Santa Elena. The owner/manager is Freddy who is engaging, friendly, and relaxed (and fluent in English and Spanish). He will greet you upon arrival, orient you according to your needs, and help you move in. The rooms are clean, and the two course breakfast is amazing -- first course is an artfully presented fruit plate, second course is one of five options that are made to order, including a breakfast burrito and omelet. Coffee is locally grown and made with a french press. We ate outside on his patio, however there's also an indoor dining room We rented a car at San Jose Airport, and were so happy we got the hotspot GPS locator -- otherwise we would have never found our way out of the city and over to Santa Elena. In general, roads and routes do not seem as well marked in Costa Rica compared to North America or Europe.…
We only stayed one night at Eddie's, but it I would definitely recommend it. The rooms are clean and spaciuos. The bathroom is very clean, too. There's a mini fridge if you need one, as well as an electric kettle and a french press to prepare coffee. The hotel is run by the family and they are super friendly and helpful! If you have questions about the area, they can give you tipps and recommendations. We mostly communicated in English, which worked very well. They served us a very tasty breakfast! For us, this was the best breakfast of our trip. If you have dietary restrictions, just talk to them and they prepare something fitting your needs.
We stayed for 2 nights at Eddy's Place. We were greeted by Presley, who warmly welcomed us and made us coffee (we think the coffee here is some of the best we have had in Costa Rica, and we've been around!) Our room was exactly as pictured and described - basic and clean, with a small fridge, kettle, coffee press, variety of teas and a safe. We met Freddy at breakfast, and now we know why people rave about the breakfast here - it was amazing! The first course was an artfully arranged fruit plate - beautiful and delicious. There were many options for the main course, and we each chose something different. All were AMAZING! Presley and Freddy were wonderful hosts, and we are so glad we chose to stay at Eddy's Place.
Basic room, sleeps up to 3 people. The owner, supported by a lovely daughter, were absolutely friendly and helpful, for instance to book activities. The breakfast was good and included in the price. Also lunch and dinner was offered. Tea with lemon was through the day available The walk to the centre about 500 m away was a comfortable descend. However, on the way back it became an ascend, of course - not that easy anymore. As a bonus he owner gave me a free ride with his car to the central bus stop at 05:15 am,
Eddy's Place is a small hotel in walking distance (600 m) from the center of Santa Elena. Our family room was spacious enough for the five of us, breakfast was decent and the stuff was very helpful. The rooms are very clean. My only observation is that the furniture in the breakfast room was a bit run-down and should be renovated at some point.
We chose this place because of the positive reviews on Booking.com and TripAdvisor. After having stayed here, we feel those reviews are misleading. Upon arrival, there was limited parking and we had to park on a hilly, gravel road. Check-in was anything but smooth. He showed us to our room without first asking our name. We wanted to confirm our reservation with a tour company and asked the "receptionist" to help us. This was a nightmare. He tried to sell us a tour through one of this friends, despite us repeatedly saying that we had a specific tour and tour organization that we wanted to book through. He finally let us use his phone after about 10 minutes of trying to convince us that we should book through him. Conversations went in circles (he had limited English, I have limited Spanish (although my Spanish was good to get us through the entire trip--this is the only place where we ran into difficulty which I suspect was due to him trying to sell us his tour package)). Then, he asked us for our names and we completed the check-in process. The check-in process is quite sketchy--you have to write your passport number and full name into a notebook that contains all previous guests information. The room was clean and adequate. There's no blowdryer, shower had good pressure. There's tea packages in the room, but there's no kettle to boil water. It got chilly at night and there were no extra blankets in the room. The breakfast was dismal. It was a small plate of fruit, and your choice of eggs (scrambled, in a wrap, or fried). That was it. The eggs weren't cooked well--we did not have breakfast here the second day. At checkout, they informed us that if we pay with debit/credit card, there's an additional $20usd fee!! The price that we were quoted on our booking site was apparently the cash price--this was not indicated on the booking site. We thought the location was ok--central to many of the tour attractions and close to downtown. Overall, would not stay again and was the most unpleasant "hotel" we stayed at during our two week (6 hotels) trip.…
Eddy’s Place was very clean and cozy! The rooms were bright and fresh. Breakfast was good. Everyone working there was so friendly and helpful! The hike up the “hill” from town center can get a little tiring but a taxi is only $2 if you need a break. I would definitely recommend staying here.
We were here with our two young kids and grandma! Freddy and the entire family could not be more friendly and welcoming! We had a beautiful three bedroom room, very clean and quite elegant in so many ways! Then not being aware of the breakfast situation, Freddy convinced us to have his instead of strolling down to town! I’m so happy we followed his suggestion! We had a delicious fruit plate, flavorful coffee and fresh orange juice followed by beautiful arranged breakfast plates with eggs and rice and beans! All made to amaze! Do not miss to book this place in Monteverde! The family is so sweet and welcoming!
