Axel at the front desk was incredible. He helped us arrange a local coffee and chocolate tour, a ziplining tour, gave great advice on what we needed to see while we were in town, and helped accommodate a late check-in. The location is also great, just far enough away from downtown to avoid the downtown traffic, but still very walkable to Monteverde. However, my wife and I both felt the pictures are deceptive. We knew it was the budget room so we weren't expecting all of the bells and whistles, but we also expected at least one of the photos on their website or Tripadviser to show what OUR room would look like. We had no bath, no nice swings, no comfortable chairs, no view, and no outdoor balcony. It was just a bedroom connected to the kitchen, (both acceptable, but nothing noteworthy) and a bathroom. We were wow'd by the pictures when booking this place, and were disappointed by what our money bought us, and we felt the pictures were dishonest.

Room Tip: There are better budget options closer to town than the budget rooms here.

The view from the balcony was even better than I was hoping for. The sky was mostly clear while we were there and we enjoyed watching the clouds blow by. The room was a decent size for the 2 of us, very comfortable king size bed and well equipped kitchen. We ended up preparing most of our meals in the room here. It is a safe 15-20 minute walk to town since there is a sidewalk all the way. One afternoon we were entertained by a group of capuchin monkeys jumping from the trees next to the cottage and onto the roof of the balcony. One of them seemed to be performing for us by hanging from the roof by one arm and swinging. Such fun! We had room #8, you park above the unit and down a series of concrete steps and ramps to reach it. No problem for us, but it would be for anyone with mobility issues. We very much enjoyed our time there.

The location is great—not in the center of town, just a quick drive away. The staff is super helpful and will work to get transportation and/or guides if that's what you are looking for. Peaceful area with great local food nearby.

The views were amazing. The service was incredible. Chris is one of the most helpful locals we’ve met and he helped us plan an incredible trip to Monteverde. He had so many amazing recommendations that made our trip a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

This was a very unique, breathtaking view from our room. The rooms are literally built into the side of a mountain offering the most exquisite exciting views. Christian is a lovely host. We especially enjoyed the couple of dogs that are running around the property. They even came and hang out with us in our room. Breakfast is not provided so I would recommend swinging by the supermarket and getting a few staples to have. We would highly recommend this property.

We stayed in Honeymoon Suite. It was breathtaking. You don't even need to go anywhere. The view from your room beats any other activities in the area. Imagine taking a shower and having a basically a glass wall in front of you with the panorama on the mountains and ocean. The room is huge. perfect sunset view from your room. Highly recommended. And the lady in the office ( Anna, I think...) is the best, on top of everything.

Came here years ago as a kid and now twice in the last three years and I love it every time. Just can’t beat waking up to this view every morning. Christian and the staff are excellent and do a great job helping you make the most out of your stay. A car isn’t necessary, but it is convenient as RVL is on the edge of town. For me, I walked one morning and then did a lot of activities throughout the day. I drove everywhere the next day as I was pretty tired. The room amenities are really nice too. There are a lot of great places to eat in town, but I recommend going across the street to the small convenient store and buying items for breakfast one more to cook in the kitchenette. Enjoy your food and this view. I love going to Monteverde and RVL is a big reason for that!

I stayed for 5 nights at Rainbow Valley Lodge and enjoyed every bit of it. My room was a few flight of stairs down and the views from the room were simply stunning. The room was very comfortable with all the amenities I can think of. Christian (owner of the lodge) is very helpful, responsive to all questions and attends to every minute detail. I had a few issues with hot water in the shower and Christian got back to me within 5 minutes and promptly fixed the issue. Christian also helped me in arranging all the tours in the area incl canopy ziplining, night tour in the forest, etc. And one can really see amazing rainbows from this place as seen in the attached pics. Can't wait to visit this place again!

Enough has been written about the high quality of this accommodation by other contributors so I'm going to tell you about the rainbows instead. When we booked, I thought that "Rainbow Valley Lodge" was just a pretty name but we saw more rainbows from our room in 48 hours that we had seen in our other 68 years put together. They first appeared at 2 o'clock in the afternoon, down in the valley, IN THE TREES! (We had never seen such a thing before) then kept reappearing every few minutes over the next four hours, climbing higher and higher into the sky. The last one before sunset was like a magical bridge high up with BLUE SKY behind it. (Another first for us). It was breathtaking and we just couldn't stop taking photos. (The room was great, too!)

This was a wonderful accommodation to stay at in Monteverde. The apartment was very spacious, with all the amenities you needed. It featured a beautiful design, with large windows that overlooked the valley beyond. You could just sit outside on the porch and relax, enjoying the vista as various birds flittered past you (and if the weather was less then favourable you could admire the same view from the inside). There is a small supermarket right across the road which was convenient. One tip is to bring earplugs as on windy days you may find it difficult to fall sleep.
