The lodge we stayed in, is well-maintained. There are only s few lodges on the premises, so no crowds. There's space for cooking, it has a fridge. The house is very clean. The owners grow organic food and the lodge aums to be eco-friendly. Warm water is a problem: only solar - powered is available. We had 30 seconds of warm water per day (!) In the kitchen, we had no hot water at all, so doing dishes does not feel clean. Maneuvering with the car awkward in the dark because of the lighting: there are some lights, but they're not flood lighting, but omni directional, shining directly into your eyes. The people are very friendly and helpful and make you feel welcome. The surroundings are beautiful and the lodges are well-situated near the village. It's nice and quiet here.
The grounds are fantastic, full of tropical orchids, plants and birds. They also have trails that rival that of the local parks. I photographed Motmots, hummingbirds, jays and warblers while there. The breakfast is great and well worth the cost. The street hides the beauty of the grounds, so do not be fooled by what it looks like from the street. I wish we had stayed longer.
Valle Campanas is situated on farmland in Santa Elena about 2 minutes drive from the restaurants in town and about 10-15 minutes from the attractions such as the forest reserves with sky walks, etc. The property is setback from the road via long driveway surrounded by lush plants and flowers. The accommodation we booked was a really cool two-floor cabin with cooking facilities and a small seating area on the the ground floor, and the queen bed with bathroom on the 2nd floor. The top floor has a balcony with bench and hammock, which faces west toward the sunset. The adjoining grounds are full of plants and flowers. The hospitality given by the owners was great. They can bring breakfast to your cabin in the morning if you want, which we gladly did each day. The fruit and juices were fresh and the traditional Tico breakfast of a tortilla, eggs, rice and beans and toast was our standard choice. High marks for the food. Roy in particular was immensely helpful in answering my questions about travel routes from the Liberia airport, as well as identifying places to eat and visit. His English is excellent, along with others in his family. Cabanas Valle Campanas is a cash business so you should come prepared to pay in dollars or colones, although you'll need to secure your reservation with a credit card. I recommend having your own wheels to explore the area, although there's probably plenty of other transportation options.…
As a family of 5, we had a great experience staying at Valle Campanas. The hosts were super welcoming and they helped us with tips for restaurants and activities in Monteverde. The place was clean, cozy, and it was surrounded by beautiful gardens and trails. We also ordered the breakfast they offered and they brought it to our cabin. We loved our stay!
We had a lovely time at Valle Campanas! The hospitality was truely amazing. The owners gave us good advice and helped us book the right tours for our family. Highlights was the delicious homemade and homegrown breakfast and the stunning views from the observatory in the backyard.
We stayed for 3 nights in family cabin El Mono. The house was spacious and clean with more than enough space for our family (couple with 2 children of 6 and 9 years age), environment is quiet with a nice viewpoint. The owners and personnel are all very friendly, breakfast is excellent and mainly made from their homegrown products. We asked the owner for advise on a canopy tour, she took the time and explained everything very well and after we made our choice she made the reservation for us. We have enjoyed our stay very much and love to come back in the future.
We had a pleasant and peaceful stay at Valle Campanas. They are pleasant stays and in beautiful surroundings. Eco friendly with a good breakfast, just outside the village of St. Elena which makes it quiet.
Outstanding facilities. We had a cabana for 2 nights and really enjoyed it with our family of 4. The cabana has all the facilities you'd expect, and adds privacy and perfect integration into the natural surroungings. The service is really great here, most visible in the breakfast: simply the best breakfast during our entire trip in Costa rica. You have to choose upfront, and then everything is prepared carefully for the scheduled time: simply delicious!! And on top of that, both owner and staff were genuinely friendly and helpful. Top place to stay!
We stayed 4 nights in one of houses and were very happy with the experience. Reina and her family are very warm, friendly and welcoming. Trust her to arrange the best tours in Monteverde area. The houses are lovely, clean and well-equipped. The one where we, a family of three, stayed was not too large but had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. We would definitely recommend this place. If you are a bird lover, ask Reina to arrange you a tour with the local guide Rafael. It was an amazing, unforgettable tour!
A cosy hotel with nice villas. Our one unfortunately did have a bit of a stale smell inside, particularly the bathroom. On the whole it was clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Laundry is offered for $5/kilo.
