This is not a hotel in the traditional sense, but rather a series of detached and lovingly furnished holiday homes. These accommodations are spread over a park-like and enclosed area in the middle of nature, with their own walking paths and a viewing platform from which you can watch the sunset, for example. Guests feel welcome here straight away, as the facility, which is run by a friendly family, has been designed with a lot of love. We were treated with great care as guests. During our stay, it was my wife's birthday. A wonderful breakfast with a homemade cake was prepared especially for this and served with a birthday serenade. That was an unforgettable experience for us and touched us very much. For that reason alone, we would like to come back again.
The accommodation is within walking distance of the small town center, although you have to allow for a 20-minute walk. However, the nearest restaurant (the SODA "La Cocinita de Lety") is a little quicker to reach. We ate here every evening and were delighted with the price/performance ratio.
Our accommodation is a good starting point for a variety of activities in one of the most beautiful landscapes in Costa Rica. We can fully recommend a stay.

LOVED this hotel! Walking distance to the amenities of Saint Elena but when on the expansive grounds itself, you feel like you are far from everything. There are only 5 units, with each cabana being very well spaced from the others. Everything was very clean and charmingly decorated. There are gardens and large stretches of trees which draw many birds to your doorstep. I spent hours in the mornings bird watching from the deck, then enjoyed relaxing afternoons reading and napping in the hammock on the deck, and then watching the sunset. The staff and resident dog and cat are so friendly, helpful, and accessible. Thank you Roy for answering all our What’s App questions!! The breakfast is a beautiful experience, brought on a beautiful wood tray to your cabana at your requested time. Great value and amazingly fresh. We ate ours at the table outside as the colourful mot mots visited the tree above. A favourite CR memory!

This hotel has several separate two-story cabin/bungalows. Each bungalow is separated by proper distance and has outside dining table in front of each bungalow. They are built on a previous farm, with an impressive entrance gate and passage. It has its own trail and sunset watching tower. The owner is Reina and she keep the hotel different from large commercial hotels. My wife and I had wonderful time in the hotel.

From the moment we arrived at Hotel de Cabañas Valle Campanas in the breathtaking Monteverde, Costa Rica, we knew we were in for a special treat. But little did we know just how exceptional our experience would turn out to be, thanks to the extraordinary hospitality and kindness shown by Roy and the team.

Our little cabin was nothing short of adorable, offering all the coziness and charm one could hope for in such a picturesque setting. Waking up to the serene beauty of Monteverde was a dream come true, but it was the incredible homemade breakfast that truly stole our hearts. Delivered right to our cabin, each bite was a taste of heaven, showcasing the love and care put into its preparation.

However, what set our stay apart was an unexpected challenge that turned into a memorable act of kindness. When we encountered a flat tire, it could have easily put a damper on our plans. But Roy, going above and beyond, fixed our flat tire so my fiancé could enjoy the amazing breakfast without worry. This gesture of kindness was the cherry on top of an already fabulous stay.

We will definitely plan our return to Hotel de Cabañas Valle Campanas. It's not just the beautiful location or the delicious breakfast that calls us back, but the warmth and generosity of the people there. Roy and the team made us feel like family, and we can't wait to experience their hospitality again. Definitely, a must-visit destination for anyone traveling to Monteverde, Costa Rica.

This is a beautiful “resort” just outside the center of Monteverde. It has 5 cabanas or tiny houses spread over a rather big domain so that every cabana has enough privacy. We stayed in cabana two which has a stone table + bench outside and the on the ground floor a little kitchen with fridge and a bed couch for the kid. On the first floor, there was a balcony (with a wooden bench), a good and big bed and the bath room with toilet. All rather tiny and maybe a bit old but for sure cozy and fitting well with the beautiful surroundings. Around the domain, and in-between the different cabanas, are different trails (all together more than a kilometer) with a short path to a real sunset viewpoint and then a longer path through their banana plantations and some jungle. We were accompanied at our walk by their friendly dog. If you are lucky you can find some wildlife, and we saw a beautiful armadillo when coming back from dinner at night.
The staff was very friendly and helpful.
Breakfast was served at our door at the requested time and consisted of fresh fruit, mixed fruit juice and coffee (or hot chocolate milk) and then the choice between continental breakfast (toast + eggs), traditional breakfast (gallo pinto with fried or scrambled eggs) or two pancakes with a nice syrup and also some eggs. All was nicely presented, tasted very well and was more than enough for a good start of the day.

This is the third time my wife and I have stayed here during our visits to Costa Rica (2016, 2017, 2023). This is an amazing place to relax and thoroughly enjoy the cabins and surrounding plantation. Our most enjoyable experience staying here is sitting on the deck in the mornings drinking coffee and listening to and watching the birds. The tree adjacent to our cabin was full of berries which brought lots of activity throughout the day as well. The sunsets are wonderful, too. The kitchen allowed us to cook our own meals, which is something we really enjoy. The breakfast we ordered for our last morning was very well-prepared and a good sample of the local cuisine. Roy and Reina were both very helpful with local connections and recommendations, and booking the stay was very easy. We felt welcomed and will definitely stay here the next time we visit this wonderful country.

This is a lovely place to stay in Monteverde, peaceful and quiet while being within walking distance of anything you need and the restaurants/ shops/ activities in town. Staff were extremely accomodating and friendly, breakfast was delicious. Comfortable, private accommodations and beautiful grounds to explore - and watch beautiful sunsets. The resident dog, Draco, was very friendly and entertaining, coming to play fetch regularly. Highly recommend!

Valle Campanas is situated on farmland in Santa Elena about 2 minutes drive from the restaurants in town and about 10-15 minutes from the attractions such as the forest reserves with sky walks, etc. The property is setback from the road via long driveway surrounded by lush plants and flowers. The accommodation we booked was a really cool two-floor cabin with cooking facilities and a small seating area on the the ground floor, and the queen bed with bathroom on the 2nd floor. The top floor has a balcony with bench and hammock, which faces west toward the sunset. The adjoining grounds are full of plants and flowers.

The hospitality given by the owners was great. They can bring breakfast to your cabin in the morning if you want, which we gladly did each day. The fruit and juices were fresh and the traditional Tico breakfast of a tortilla, eggs, rice and beans and toast was our standard choice. High marks for the food. Roy in particular was immensely helpful in answering my questions about travel routes from the Liberia airport, as well as identifying places to eat and visit. His English is excellent, along with others in his family.

Cabanas Valle Campanas is a cash business so you should come prepared to pay in dollars or colones, although you'll need to secure your reservation with a credit card. I recommend having your own wheels to explore the area, although there's probably plenty of other transportation options.

Such a fantastic place to stay! Our cabin was amazing with huge rooms, 4 double beds and 2 en-suites and a kitchen with great coffee in the morning, they also deliver breakfast to your cabin in the morning which is lovely. The grounds are great with a trail and walk around the areas they grow their own veg. Slightly depressing “aviary” with sad looking birds but apart from that this place is great and the staff were really helpful and friendly.

Hola! Thank you so much for your visit to our lodging. It was a pleasure to be your hosts at Monteverde. Also, thank you for leaving a review for us :D Just to let you know, the aviary you had a look through was a little farm of domestic and production birds. By the time you visited us, is transition time for them, so probably the reason you have seen them sad, is because they´re ''moulting'', hehe. Best, Roy and family.

We stayed here for two nights while exploring Monte Verde. The location was fantastic - we could walk into town for dinner (beware the way there very much uphill - great for us but may be difficult for some), but back at the hotel it was quiet and the grounds were beautiful. It felt like a real escape. Our kids loved the dogs and the hammock, and raved about the gallo pinto. Because the property is big, the cabins are pretty spread out, so we didn’t worry about our kids being kids and making some noise. The folks who run the place are lovely and helpful. Would definitely stay here again if we head back to Monteverde!

It was not hot. Nights were cool (down to 59 degrees F). There was usually a strong wind also but I recall fans but did not need them. The elevation has a cooling effect.
