the Tico family who runs this hostel is great. They' ve been very welcoming, kind and helpful. The man who welcomes you at reception will provide you with very reliable info about the excursions and transport facilities. He can also speak many foreign languages. Rooms are clean and comfy, breakfast amazing. Definitely a top choice in Santa Elena!

We stayed just one night but was enough to understand that it is a hostel run by lovely, available and reliable people. They gave us a room with private bathroom even though we booked one with shared bathroom without changing the price. It is located 3 minutes from the main bars and restaurants of the town. Good hearty breakfast. I...

Despite great reviews and recommendation in the lonely planet, we didn't find this hostel met all the hype. Staff were friendly and helpful but the facilities themselves left much to be desired. We stayed in a private double room with shared bath and found it to be extremely loud from street noise as well as from adjoining rooms. The mattress...

I generally don't know what I'm doing one day to the next so hadn't booked before arrival and was unfortunately only able to stay for one night as they were booked out on the second, but still went back to hang out with all the new friends I had made. I recommend booking ahead if you can because this place...

Casa Tranquilo is a really nice Hostel. The staff is superfriendly, the rooms are clean and cozy. A huge plus is the amazing breakfast. The freshly baked, warm bananabread was my favourite part of the day. Moreover they serve fresh fruits and gallo pinto. It's location is central. The Hostel is pretty loud as the walls are superthin, we could...

It was perfect for the price, it is really cheap and the room are clean, the shower too and the bathroom too, however really small. No AC in the room, but since we were in Monteverde and so high from sea level the temperature is alright to sleep at night. Really nice staff and position. Really good wifi plus free...

Good place to stay with a kitchen and restaurant. Free breakfast was delicious and the staff is amazing, makes the place worth while staying. There is a tours office that can direct you to every interesting activity in town

The Good: good value for the money. Great free breakfast witb fresh fruits and a smile at the vegetarian restaurant next door. Near town. From about 10:30 pm to 5:30 am the traffic noise goes away and there is peace and quiet. The Bad: It is directly beside the main road into town on a hill with a turn. Every...

Casa Tranquilo is a beautiful hostel with a kitchen and social area which made you feel at home, perfect to hang out. The staff were really friendly, genuinely helpful and not just trying to sell tours (they helped us do all the free stuff too!). Breakfast in the morning was the best Gallo pinto in Costa Rica, and the best...

This staff was so helpful in everything. They were friendly, gave us great recommendations of places to hike to and eat at, drew out maps and detailed directions, and even washed our clothes for us. The beds were not very comfy (but rarely do you even find a hostel with nice beds, the showers were ice cold which was unfortunate...
