Beautiful Hotel . Luis and staff is great, they go extra mile to take care of their guest. Close to many attractions like zip line, restaurants and more. Beautiful grounds, big room, big breakfast area.
Hotel Cipreses is a definitely a little more on the basic/rustic end of hotel stays, but if you're spending all of time exploring Monteverde it provides all you need! The location is great, very close to hiking/nature watching opportunities as well as town. Parking was a little tight as it seems there as only 5 designated spots, but the receptionists helped accommodate our vehicles without issues. There wasn't really any hot water for the showers, but we only stayed 2 nights before moving on so it wasn't a big deal to us. The breakfast in the morning was delicious!
We booked this hotel because we didn't have a car and wanted a hotel that was walking distance to town. It's not right in the center but it's about a ten minute walk into town so not too bad. Generally though, it's okay for the money but not somewhere I'd recommend. Here's why: Service: Reception tries to be helpful but they really aren't. I asked them which company they would recommend for the canopy tour and they weren't able to give me much useful info. They can book any tour but I actually found that doing it online myself was cheaper than their rates for both Selvetura and the Jeep Boat Jeep transfer. Breakfast: It was free so that's good but the food itself wasn't great. The eggs felt like they had been sitting around, they had bread but no butter or jam, and a few other things but really only the fruit was edible. The room: Our room was freezing (Monteverde gets cold at night) and the walls were super thin so we could hear everything around us. The shower was cold water and the wifi didn't really work except near reception. So overall, the room was clean but that's the only real thing this had going for it.…
My husband and I had a great experience here! In all my years of traveling, this is hotel is rated as top superb for the most helpful and friendly service! We later learned that this is a family-owned hotel, and it's the same family crew who is around the hotel. They helped us book all the tours, covid tests, and more. Great breakfast and our room were big and clean. We drove here, so we had a car to get around, but many tours do offer pick-up services to the hotel as well. Don't expect a 5-star hotel, but you get more than what you pay. The service alone is outstanding :)
Nice place with beautiful grounds. Rooms are small but clean. Walls are thin, you can hear the people in the next room loud and clear. Takes 3 - 4 minutes to get hot water. Staff is great, helpful and accommodating. Close to town and the nature reserves.
I loved this hotel. The room was so comfortable - because the interior was lined with cedar planks, it actually had a pleasant cedar smell inside! Very cute property that is away from the main road enough to be a little quieter than the Santa Elena hotels. I just really liked the vibe here. The staff was also very nice.
This hotel is. Pretty basic but served our needs. Staff was friendly and helpful. Located on hill so to go to grocery, restaurant Or main district it’s down hill going and up returning. Probably not a good walk for elderly or disability. ( get a cab). Rooms were fine. Wi fi Scotty. Our breakfast was included and very good.
I would rate this hotel between 3 and 4 star. The 3 star is because it is so basic and does not look like the pictures on booking.com at all. On the site, the hotel and grounds look very vibrant, this is not the case in person. The 4 star is for the staff - very helpful. The hotel restaurant is only open for breakfast. About a 5 minute walk you can find a local soda where you can eat local food. Great value for money and very tasty. If you are just using the hotel for a place to sleep, then I would recommend. Tip: Monte Verde weather was much much colder than Arenal. Luckily we had sweatshirts with us. The wind was so powerful that it was actually pushing us. To get to the town from the hotel is not so far, but you walk down hill and then uphill on the return. After full day hiking the day before, the hills were too much for us lol…
We stayed here for two nights. The hotel is close enough to the main town to walk to well within 15 minutes (downhill to go in and uphill to get back). WiFi in reception area was the only place that I could connect, it did not work in our room. Our room was large with two double beds and a balcony. It was a shame that our balcony didn’t even have a chair on as it would have been nice to sit out on. The room was very dark and made worse by the fact that we had to close the curtain as you could see straight into our room otherwise. There is no safe in the room and breakfast is not included in the rate. However, we felt safe in the room and would recommend staying here especially as we were out of the room most of the time.
Nice basic hotel within walking distance of the town centre. The free breakfast was satisfactory and the grounds has a nice common area with hammocks and chairs to relax in. My only complaint is the building supply store next door, which was quite noisy starting early on the morning. Great value for the money though.
