We had a private room with a full bed and twin-sized bed. We LOVED the breakfast (definitely try the breakfast tacos!). The service was great, and the staff was more than happy to help plan activities. Had a cute store with local jewelry and art. We headed over to La Fortuna for a night and they were kind enough to hold our luggage.

It’s my second time around at Pension Santa Elena This time with my brother and his wife. I’ve been anxious to show my brother and his wife the Pura Vida life of Costa Rica and what better place to do that than Pension Santa Elena :) Not only the rustic rooms but also the very warm, open and always helpfully smiling staff is what Pura Vida is to me, but also sitting in front of Pension Santa Elena and watching the morning unfold, drinking coffee and eating the complementary breakfast. I can highly recommend staying at Pension Santa Elena I love the place

This was probably my favorite hostel during our trip in Costa Rica. I loved the little courtyard in the back and the staff was SUPER friendly and helpful. The breakfast was a good change from the standard hostel breakfast in Costa Rica with three options! I would stay again.

Pension Santa Elena is a fantastic base for exploring the Monteverde Cloud Forest and surrounding areas. Front desk staff Diego and Rebecca were friendly and welcoming, and incredibly helpful in arranging activities and travel. It was pouring rain when I was here, so I didn’t get to take all their great suggestions. I did get to enjoy the Sky Adventures bridge and ziplining tour and a few café and restaurant recommendations (Orchid Coffee, Sabor Tico and Taco Taco). They also arranged for a private shuttle to get me to Quepos, which was super helpful. They are able to arrange prices below what you would pay if you went directly through a tour or transportation company. Breakfast was delicious – hot coffee and tea, your choice of eggs/potatoes or granola/yogurt, plus a slice

Spent nearly a week here and really loved the spot. Diego, Rebeca, Nina and the rest of the staff were great to be around. The reception is open super early in the morning which is great for the early morning excursions and coordination that comes with that. They have a world of information to help you out with on the activities - Rebeca's enthusiasm is especially contagious. Included breakfast was really tasty. Also it's location couldn't be better, close to everything in town that you might need.
