The lodge is as described and pictured. We chose the apartment as we wanted a kitchen. It had everything necessary to make food, even oil and salt and pepper. The grounds are also nice. We saw several species of birds. We also enjoyed the breakfast which was included. The staff were helpful.
Arco Iris is one of the best mountain lodges I've ever stayed at. The staff is so kind and welcoming; the cabin is well designed and has great light; the breakfast is delicious; the recommendations are spot on. Tucked right behind downtown Santa Elena, you are close to everything but don't feel like you're affronted by the busy-ness of the city. Arco Iris is tucked away and feels like an oasis. The mornings and evenings watching the light change are so restorative and peaceful... would recommend for anyone looking to escape, explore, and recharge.
We highly recommend staying here when you visit Monteverde, as it is within walking distance of Santa Elena restaurants and only a few minutes drive to the Reserve. Arco Iris has separate bungalows on the property, and they are nestled in the forest. They are simple, clean, comfortable, and we loved the porch where we sat each evening to watch the clouds roll in. We went in the low season and loved that there was barely anyone else there. The breakfast that is included is delicious, and we will absolutely return!
I can't recommend Arco Iris enough! We were a group of 12, so we stayed in the house, a cabin, and a bungalow. All were well equipped and cozy with great porches and outside sitting areas. Breakfast was included and it was fabulous, with plenty of choices. The housemade passionfruit jam and granola were delicious, and the traditional breakfast couldn't be beat! The best part of Arco Iris is the setting...it's magical. The cabins are staggered on a green hillside and connected with stone pathways. The gardens are lovely and the treetops are alive with tropical birds. We saw toucans from our porch one afternoon and tons of tropical birds. Located right on the edge of town, with groceries less than a 5 minute walk away. Beautiful!
The lodge has several different bungalows to rent depending on your needs. I would recommend taking one in the back as the front ones can be affected by noise from the street. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Two points less are being given as the mattress is of poor quality and the windows don’t close completely. We travelled in April and their is a strong cold draft through the whole room at night. Other than that it was a decent stay for 70USD/night for two including breakfast.
Nice bungalows located in a nice and very calm garden , has aswell short hiking up the hill to see the views to the mountains and the sea . Staff were nice and kind . Location is great, walking distance from main street .
We just stayed at Arco mid January. We were a group of four. My friend and her mother rented the two bedroom house on the top of the property. Amazing views and incredible covered porch! My husband and I had #20 at the bottom of the property, it had a nice patio, not a view really. The cabins are spread out nicely along the property and it is just steps out of town. Very private, but a five minute walk to either grocery store, restaurants and bank. The owner was great and set us up with an incredible guide, Victor! He brought us on tours of Santa Elena reserve, Monteverde National park, and curi cancha reserve. He was great! Also breakfast was excellent!!!! There’s no reason to stay anywhere else! I highly recommend this accommodation and we felt very safe there.
We stayed here several years ago and it was just as lovely this time round. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. The property itself is beautifully maintained and the cabina that we stayed in was super! clean. We arranged for a private tour guide in the Curi-Cancha Reserve that the lodge set up for us. The guide was amazing! Victor! He was very knowledgeable and attentive, also just a real pleasure to spend the afternoon with. The birds were spectacular and it is an experience that we will remember with much appreciation. Thank you Victor and Arco Iris Lodge staff. Cheers!
I’ve been visiting this spot for about 15 years and I always look forward to a return visit. It’s not fancy but it has a super sweet vibe. The hotel is a little oasis steps from the town center and within a short drive of cloud forest reserves. The landscaped gardens and generous breakfast buffet provide a sweet bonus.
We just finished a 3 night stay at Arco Iris Lodge and had such a positive experience! The lodge itself, on a hillside overlooking Santa Elena, is beautiful! The grounds are gorgeous and each room (from the dining hall to the guest rooms and cabins) are all thoughtfully designed. For us, we loved that the lodge had a very natural feel (with a hiking trail to a nice viewpoint) while being within a few minutes walk to town and many different dining options! What really stood out for us was the staff at Arco Iris. Both Bernal and Ivonne were outstanding. They both spent considerable time helping us plan our adventures, figure out where to eat, and talking with us about the area. They were very knowledgeable and effortlessly arranged all of our tours. The recommendations they gave us were perfect! We had such a great experience exploring the region and Arco Iris was a welcome oasis at the end of the day. The breakfast was delicious and the dining room feels like a tree house, with huge windows overlooking the trees and gardens. We loved the emphasis this lodge has on sustainability. Our family (with kids ages 11 and 13) gives Arco Iris Lodge our highest recommendation! We only wish we lived closer so we could return again and again!…
